Chapter 96

Hazel’s p.o.v

I froze when I saw what it was about.

“The doctor advised that you don’t starve or stress yourself because of your condition or it might harm the baby.”

I was dumbfounded.

“Seems like you didn’t know about it before.” She said.

“You should tell me what happened with madrigal and you and why you packed out of his house, already.”

“I divorced him.” I finally said.

“What!” She exclaimed loudly.

“Why? You guys had a fight or what?”

“No.”

“Then why did you divorce him?”

“I got tired of him.” I lied.

“I know you are lying, you should tell me the truth.”

“Can I be left alone for a while please.” I pleaded.

She didn’t bulge but when she saw my pleading eyes, she left the room.

By the time I was discharged from the hospital, I already came up with a plan on how to go about everything since there is now a baby involved.

I would need to tell my parents about the divorce but I can’t tell them about the baby yet.

In the evening of that same day while Annabel and I were eating and talking in her room, she told me she needed to go outside for a while after picking up a call from someone I didn’t know.

She returned a minute later.

“Madrigal is outside, he said he will like to see you.” She relayed.

My heart lurched at the mention of his name.

How come he is here?

That was not even what mattered but what could he be here to see me about?

I would like to see him so badly but I can’t, it will only make me feel bad even more about what I did.

“I don’t want to see him. Wait, you haven’t told him about the pregnancy yet right?”

“No. But why don’t you want to see him? You should see madrigal, he doesn’t seem like himself at all.”

The more reason why I don’t want to see him.

“Just tell him to leave.”

“You guys should talk things out if you had a fight.”

“There is nothing to talk about.”

“Couples fight, you only need to fix things.” She pressed on.

“Just tell him to leave.”

She left the room after that.

In my frustration, I pushed aside my food losing anymore appetite for it.

She returned back bearing shopping bags in her hands.

They were the ones from the mall madrigal and I went to a week before then.

“Why are you with those?” I asked.

“He said they are your things.”

“And you collected them from him?”

“He pleaded with me to give them to you.” She explained.

“You should return them back.”

“He already left.” She set them down.

“Then I will return them myself.” I got down from the bed.

“Do you have to do that? Just keep them hazel. He said he couldn’t give them out since they are yours. He said I should beg you take them at least.”

“He couldn’t give them out? He could just sell them, I haven’t even touched some.”

“Can you please keep them for my sake.”

“No.” I disagreed.

“Please.”

“Even if I keep them, do you think I will touch them. It’s already hard for me, do you have to make it worst?”

I couldn’t help from raising my voice at her which I later regretted.

I rose out of bed and stormed to the bathroom.

She wasn’t in the bedroom when I came out.

I walked out of the room to look for her.

She was curled up on the couch pressing her phone.

It was after that I noticed the other remaining shopping bags, twenty five in total and the white and yellow teddy.

I took my eyes off them shutting my head from the memories they were bringing and sat on the empty space beside her.

“I’m sorry I raised my voice at you.”

She sat up.

“How do you want me to know how you feel when you are not telling me anything, I don’t even know how to help. Do you know how that feels?”

My eyes welled up with tears but I held them back from falling.

“You can tell me when you are ready.” She pulled me into an embrace.

“He said I should give you this too.” She held out a folded palm towards me after we had disengaged from each other.

She opened her palm to reveal the chain with the heart-shaped diamond pendant and my engagement ring.

Noticing my hesitation she dropped them in my palm herself.

“If we can’t talk about Madrigal or the reason for your divorce which I so much want to know though, can we at least talk about the unborn child.” She said already in a jolly mood.

“I can’t believe you will be becoming a mother soon, do you think it’s going to be a boy or a girl?”

I laughed.
