EPISODE 23.

 

 

“Ah! The man of the hour!” Grandpa Ming was sitting at the terrace of his Mansion when Lucas arrived..

It seems he’d expected Lucas to come so he asked the servants to prepare drinks for him and his grandson..

“You should quit drinking.” Lucas scoffed and sat down opposite his grandson accepting the drink from him..

“I’ll only quit drinking after you’ve provided me with great grandchildren.” Chairman Ming chuckled softly and picked up his own glass of whiskey..

“Are me talking about this again?” Lucas heaved a sigh and took a sip from his glass..

 

“Did you see yourself when you were proposing to her? Tsk! I thought The Mighty Lucas Caine couldn’t be swayed by a woman?” Chairman Ming couldn’t believe this grandson of his…

“Why her? Why did you choose her? Is there something I should know?” Lucas’s became serious as he stared at his grandfather accessing his every emotion.

He didn’t wanna believe his grandfather suddenly paired them together by fate..

And he was sure his grandfather knew something.

Chairman Ming hesitated but decided to say something. It seems his grandson was indeed smart..

“Curious huh?” Chairman Ming chuckled softly..

“I don’t believe you insisted I marry her simply because you like her.” Lucas stated the obvious fact..

No matter how he looked at it, he felt he was being controlled..

“She’s your betrothed from the very minute she was born and I promised her father that I’ll made sure you marry her, well at first I didn’t want to force you into anything but your Aunt Catherine insisted I fulfill my promise to the man. ” Chairman Ming heaved a sigh as a strange glint flashed through his eyes…

Lucas was obviously surprised at the piece of information he’d learned.

It seems things had become interesting as ever.

“You were close to her father?” He asked and Chairman Ming obviously didn’t wanna talk about it yet..

“You shouldn’t tell her about this and promise me you’re gonna treat her well?” Chairman Ming suddenly changed the topic, it was obvious he didn’t wanna talk about Annabelle’s father..

“Treating her well shouldn’t be a problem but unfortunately I can’t really forget about Aunt Catherine. I wanna know why she’s involved in this? Because I know it doesn’t benefit her in anyway so there most be something up.” Lucas asked with a cunning smile and Chairman Ming was certain his grandson was indeed scheming something evil..

“You should figure that out on your own just make sure she’s happy and hopefully she’ll fall in love with you.” Chairman Ming giggled at his statement..

Lucas didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as he watch his grandfather act like a teenager…

“Love? Tsk! Emotions are for the weak.. I don’t want something fickle to slow me down..” He said with he felt and Chairman Ming almost punched his grandfather…

“You punk! Don’t come crying to me when she make you fall in love with her.” Chairman Ming teased him..

 

“I stopped crying when I was 12.” His short reply reminded his grandfather of the day he lost his son and his daughter in law..

 

He has never seen his grandson that way before.. He had to forcefully take Lucas away from the accident scene so he doesn’t end up with a trauma but it seems his efforts were fruitless because His grandson stopped crying and never showed anyone what he felt.. He was always like a rock and this eventually made him difficult to approach..

He’d insomnia and this made his heart ache.. He only wanted his grandson to be happy and was more than willing to make him smile genuinely again..

 

“Stop acting like a robot and loosen up Abit.” His grandfather clicked his tongue and shook his head..

“I’ll register our marriage tomorrow so she can move in with me.” Lucas sounded like someone who was desperate to get married to his bride but Chairman Ming knew his grandson better than anyone else..

 

“If that’s what you want I won’t stop you but don’t you forget your promise.”
