Chapter 42

Anastasia p.o.v

Tonight was a slow night, but it was a Tuesday so I wasn’t surprised.

The past couple of days have been stress free.

At least that’s what I thought.

I sat at a table with a few girls that were regulars. Since it was slow, I thought it was fine to take a break.

There was nothing else to do.

There were three of them, one blonde and two brunettes. They would use this time to rant about their lives and ask me what it was like to be a stripper.

They are just a little bit older than I am, so I’m kinda concerned that they’re serious about dropping out of school to become a stripper.

“You still trying to go back to school?” Jessica asked me.

“That’s the plan. I have a little bit saved up now, but it’s enough for only one year in California.” I sighed.

“You didn’t get scholarships while in school?”

“I wish.” I groaned miserably.

“And I was smart too.” I pointed that out because I was smart.

My high school was in the middle of the suburbs, so a lot of kids were going there.

To think that I was fifteenth in my class, and still got nothing from the government.

“A lot happened too, it’s not like I ended up here because I couldn’t get into school.” I said as I leaned back in my seat.

“That’s why you should stay in school.” I said to them.

“The debt is crazy.”

I bet it is.

“You make a lot of money every night, don’t you, Anastasia?” Tania asked.

“When it’s this quiet, it balances out the days I make more. And I still have bills to pay, so.” I shrugged.

I had nothing to do tonight.

And I was lucky to only work nights.

I can’t believe there are clubs that are open during the day.

I can’t imagine going to work and not making anything while your there.

I didn’t want to talk about how I might not be able to buy shopping tomorrow because tonight was such a boring night.

Jessica, Tania and Beth are in college, and they are about to graduate.

I think Jessica was already in law school, but she’s tired of it. Tania and Beth want to go to nursing school. They knew I would have majored in finance if I went to school. I just never had the chance, what with everything that’s happened.

So now I’m paying my own way.

“Why are you all here anyway?” I asked.
“It’s a Tuesday, don’t you have class tomorrow?” I seemed to care more than they did.

“It’s Beth’s birthday.” Jessica smiled.

“Oh sh*t! That’s right.” I just remembered, Beth’s twenty-three today.

“How are you not going to say anything? You should be getting a lap dance or something.”

“The chicken wings are fine.” She smiled sheepishly.

She’s the quieter one, and she’s more prude.

She followed the rules and never did anything wrong.

Now that she’s twenty-three, she have enough reason to drink. There was a bottle of Champagne on the table, and I just realised why it was there.

They were going to drink.

“I feel bad that you guys came on such a quiet night. There’s a bachelorette party tomorrow, so it’s going to be crazy.”

“You know I don’t like parties Anastasia.”

“You’re only twenty three for one year.”

“Age is just a number” she said.
