Peter was all smiles, it had been a long time since Chongolo had cooked his favorite.

“Hope we are eating together…” He said as he looked at her. She was busy walking around preparing the table in her blue-wax chitenge.

“Am going to eat some other time, am not hungry.” Chongolo replied.

“What have you been eating?”

“Just a bit of everything.” She giggled.

Peter shook his head, seeing Chongolo happy like that made him happy. He thought of the days when their relationship was just fresh, when the only promises he made to her were jokes that never ended. ‘I just want to spend the whole day looking at you.’ He would say to her.

little did he know that true love was more than words and actions, at times all that was needed was to just look at her and his heart was at peace.

“What are you thinking about?” Chongolo asked. She noticed that her husband was lost in the moment.

He looked at her and smiled, “What did I do to ever deserve you?”

“I been asking myself the same question these few days.” She responded with a smile.

“Hey! stop pushing.” Rose said. Bwalya was behind her, since he was tall… it was easy for him to Giraffe over her.

“You making noise they are going to hear us.” Bwalya responded.

“Shush!”

“But you the one who started talking again.” He nagged.

“Can’t you just go without passing a comment?” Rose asked.

“Run! They coming back.” Bwalya whispered intently.

Maluba had spoken her mind and Max, well, he just stood there calmly with no reason to object anything he said.

“I think I heard something.” Max said as he faced the corner where Rose and Bwalya were hiding.

“Its nothing. Am sure it’s just voices in your head.” Maluba said, it was easily noticeable on her face that she was pissed.

“Okay, am I allowed to go now?” He asked her.

“Why you asking me?” She asked him.

“Simply because I don’t want to find myself in another awkward situation – if you know what I mean.” Max laughed.

“Are we still on with the movie?” Maluba asked as they walked to their respective rooms.

“Why wouldn’t we? the pride bucket has to go down!” Max exclaimed excitedly.

Everyone was in the TV room as they waited for the food to be warmed. The ladies wanted to pick a movie but Bwalya strongly opposites stating they are the ones who picked last time.

Max was neutral,he didn’t want to fall on either side. Nevertheless, the ladies suggested that they eat the food half way through the movie and could have tea as the movie started. On this point, Max wasn’t for it. He also began protesting.

“Thats just not fair, why should you ladies pick everything?” Max said as he stood up.

Since Rose was the shortest among the four of them she had to get on a stool.

“Max wilabaso! You need to give ladies a chance to elevate.” She said.

“Elevate to where? ain’t you same ladies who were the ones fighting for gender? Let’s exercise it right now.” Max said sharply.

“This has nothing to do with gender. Its about being a gentleman.” Maluba jumped in.

“If that’s the case, then I don’t want to be Gentle… I will be a Rough-man!” Max said as they all began to laugh.

“Today make sure you pick a movie that’s 1 hour 30 minutes or less. We can’t wait for another hour just to start eating. This isn’t the cinemas you know…” Bwalya said as he sat down with a try that had coffee, tea bags and warm water.

“How come it’s us serving tea again?” Max asked with a eyebrows raised.

Rose got down and began to check on the movies which they could watch, the ladies had won this round.

“I think I know why all great men failed because of women.” Bwalya said with his eyes fixed on Maluba.

“And what’s the reason…” Rose asked.

“Guys love to compromise a lot when it comes to ladies. One minute we were having an upper hand and the next here we are and you girls are calling the shots.” Bwalya said as he shook his head.

“I think we men are peaceful, we hate noise and just want peace…” Max commented.

Maluba who sat near Bwalya turned to face Max, “I hate to be the one to object, I think we just won. Its not like you guys compromised or did it for the sake of peace.” She said.

“I did it for the sake of the pride bucket. I didn’t want to waste another minute arguing when I could be counting down to the final minute.” Max said with a smile.

“What about you Bwalya, what’s your excuse?” Rose asked.

He just looked around and kept silent. The ladies began to laugh at him.

With every hour they spent together the four of them began being close to each other. This meant that Bwalya wasn’t going to have an opening to approach Maluba. That wasn’t all, Eunice was going to be in town on the weekend and this meant holding hands when ever they were walking and having to flirt. That was Eunice’s way of life, she never liked playing hide and seek when it came to relationships.

On the other hand, Bwalya was the hide and seek kind of guy. Both of them were against posting each other on Facebook, but for him, him putting her as his display picture on Whatsapp meant war.

If it meant putting her on his status then almost half of his contacts had to be blocked from viewing it.

“You good?” Max asked Bwalya as he tapped him on the hand. He was startled.

“Oh, am good.” He said with a devilish smile.

“Are you sure?” Max asked.

“We about to start watching a movie. Stop pushing me to against the wall.” He said in a whisper.

“Can we switch of the lights please…” Maluba said out loud. Max was the one nearest to the switch.

“But I haven’t even had my coffee yet, how can we switch of the lights?” He asked her.

“Okay. Switch of the lights once you make your coffee – please!” She said in a childish voice in order to sound more polite.

“I think Bwalya likes Maluba.” Peter said. He was done eating and they were now seated with his wife each one of their phones.

“Check this…” She said as she showed him a meme. He began to laugh.

“What makes you think… he likes her?” Chongolo asked.

“I know Bwalya pretty well. He likes almost everyone he finds appealing.” Peter said.

“I didn’t see that, I think Maluba likes Max though.” Chongolo commented.

“No way! If she does then it’s maybe cause she heard his the President. After all, she seems to like finer things.” He said.

“Baby! don’t tell me you expect someone to go for a poor dude in the name of love.” Chongolo giggled.

“Babe, love conquers all things.” Peter said as they began to laugh.

“Okay but on a serious not a lady has to consider a mans financial stability before dating or getting married to him. Its only common sense.” Peter said.

Chongolo sat at the corner of the chair and Peter was laying his head on her lap as they gossiped.

“If only that could be the case, we ladies love the glitters. As long as his handsome, smells like Italian pizza and dresses good… we jump for him. That’s just us ladies.” Chongolo said calmly.

After give it a thought, Peter spoke up, “Are you saying I smell like Italian pizza?” He asked.

Chongolo began to laugh, “I was just giving an example.” She laughed.

“Washuka, comparing me with food.” He said with a smile.

“But am just being realistic, a few of us ladies really think about our future. We trust our partners and forget ourselves.” She giggled.

“Why are you including yourself in that statement? It’s not like I haven’t taught you how to be financially independent.” Peter said as he gave her a weird look.

“Its not like that, am talking on behalf of the females. and some of you men are just selfish mweh!” She said.

“Its not really like that.” Peter laughed.

“Whats funny?”

“You have reminded me of a work mate, he has restricted the wife from putting on these dresses that follow the shape of the body and even jeans.” Peter said.

“You see what I mean… and what’s the reason?” She asked.

“He doesn’t want other men to be looking at her.” He laughed.

Back in the other room, the TV room was silent with only the voices coming from the TV.

Max was sipping on coffee, while Bwalya had already made a second cup of tea and the ladies were just chilled.

“What’s the title of this movie again,” Bwalya asked.

“Tagged. you need to pay more attention you know.” Rose whispered back.
