“Am going to get back at you for this!” Max exclaimed.

“There is nothing to get back at.” Maluba laughed. “Just get some ice cream as well that’s all.”

“I don’t want, We going to share the same one.” Max said with a smile.

“I think I miss the serious you.” Maluba said as they walked into Hungry lion.

While waiting for their order, Max and Maluba sat opposite each other, both of them pressing their phones.

“Look at this…” She said as she showed Max pictures of a young man by the name of Brave Moses.

“Yaba. These are the people behind our singleness… mxxm.” Max said in disgust.

Malina laughed her lungs out, “The guy is cute, its not that surprising that he managed to sweep all these ladies off their feet.

“Are you saying… That am ugly?” Max said in a whisper.

“Am just Joking. But again his a catch, its easy for ladies to fall for him.” Maluba commented.

“I thought girls don’t look at the face, its about someone’s heart.” Max pointed out.

“Which lady said that? As far as things go for me, the appearance of someone matters. After all, we see the face before we know the heart of a person.” Maluba said calmly as she got her phone from him.

“It’s because of such boys that ladies now want to trap us with pregnancies… These days we date in good faith – that’s all.” Max said.

“This world is funny, while others are praying to have girlfriends, his busy misbehaving with different girls. Am sure some of these same girls even have boyfriend’s already…” Malina said.

“Girls love Charmers. The good looking dude with the sports were, jumpers and the like. Busy leaving their brains behind and walking by sight – these girls gatta read the bible – you know.” Max said dramatically, he had made his voice lighter and sounded a bit like Chris Tucker.

Maluba was taken by his humour, she couldn’t help it but laugh. It was that kinda things when you like someone and laugh at all their jokes no matter how lame they where.

“Number 208!” The lady at the counter called.

“That’s us. Let’s go.” Malina said as she stood up with Max properly adjusting his tie before he could follow.

Rose had changed into her cloths and was with a bucket washing. Chongolo and Bwalya were also there with her as they spoke about anything that seemed interesting.

“Are we having movie night today?” Bwalya asked Rose.

“Yes we are, I just hope Maluba hasn’t forgotten to buy the Pride bucket and chips.” She said passively.

“You mean we having Hungry Lion?” “Is this some kind of challenge? then why did we have to make coffee?” Bwalya nagged.

“Movie night? how come Peter and I never knew about the movie night?” Chongolo asked.

“It just started yester-night after we found ourselves in the hallway trying to finger out where the music was coming from.” Said Bwalya in snap, “You welcome to join us… that’s if you won’t be playing the national anthem again.” He added with a mischievous smile.

Just then the gate opened, it was Max in his slim fit. Then Maluba carefully drove in as Max remained to close the gate once again.

When Maluba came out, she was welcomed in a manner that showed they had been talking about her, and Max of course.

“Talk about the devil…” Bwalya exclaimed as Max approached.

“Who are you calling the devil!” Max shouted.

“Chill, its just a figure of speech.” Bwalya said as everyone began laughing.

“Chongolo! You home early are you okay?” Max asked as he tried quite the laughing.

“Am very much fine.”

“Then why are you home?” He asked once again.

“The bigger boss said I needed to rest, so I’ve been home.” Chongolo smiled.

“The bigger boss ka! Where is he even?” Max asked. The bigger boss the two of them were talking about was Peter.

“His still at the store. His usually late on Wednesdays.” Chongolo said sharply.

Just then she received a message from him.

PETER: “If the sun stopped shining, would you be the light of my world?”

CHONGOLO: “Yes, I would love to be your light.”

PETER: “How are you doing love and how’s the baby?”

CHONGOLO: “Am good hun, stop being funny am not yet pregnant, besides we just did it yesterday.”

PETER: “Baby girl, I have super-sperms lol. Hope you have eaten.”

CHONGOLO: “I’ve already eaten. You acting like you’ve already knocked me up. What happens when am up?”

PETER: “You don’t want me to answer. Just wanted to check on you my Queen.”

CHONGOLO: “Am doing fine and thank you for the day off my King.”

Everyone was looking at Chongolo as she texted, her chicks had puffed up and her smile had reached Mars as she blushed. Maluba had gone straight to shower once they arrived.

“Why are you all looking at me like that?” Chongolo asked them.

“Nothing, we just wondering why you glowing all of a sudden.” Max commented.

“Lets not forget the blushing and flushing face boi (friend). ” Bwalya jumped in.

“Rose are you going to let these two jump on me sure…” Chingolo nagged.

“I was about to ask the same questions, so I can’t be on your side right now.” Rose laughed as she responded to Chongolo’s call out.

Rose kept a close eye on Max as they continued to chat and immediately he left for his room she spoke out.

“Okay, let’s be real. Are you sure Max is the President of the debate club and all? He just seems so young now that have looked at him. Besides he doesn’t even have the leadership vibe in him.” Rose whispered.

“Don’t be funny. Am sure you mind will be settled once you get to know him.” Bwalya said.

“Have you heard him and Peter debate over senseless things before?” Chongolo asked him.

“I’ve actually not spoke to your husband directly before. He debates as well?” She said sounding surprised.

“No he doesn’t . He use to debate when he was in high school. The two treat each other like rivals.” Chongolo said warmly.

“Wait until they start debating about Peanut butter from Shoprite or Shine Stores, you will cry of laughter.” Bwalya said as he got up to head inside.

“You guys seem to be like a family.” Rose commented. She was done with her washing and now just sat beside Chongolo. It was already past 18hrs, Peter wasn’t due home until another 2 hours.

“We try to act like a family. It doesn’t always work out but it’s fan most of the times.” Chongolo responded.

“I know am not supposed to say this, but I couldn’t help noticing how Bwalya kept looking at you. I think he likes you.” Rose said as she kept her voice low.

“Likes me! I don’t think so.” She laughed.

It was just a way of brushing off the conversation. However, she knew very well how much Bwalya liked her. After all, there was a time when he freely told her how he felt despite knowing that she was married and committed to her husband.

“Am married, I wouldn’t want to destroy my marriage based on how someone feels for me. I’ve come a long way with my husband. We have had differences so big that I don’t know how we made it through. Only God knows.” She smiled.

“So how was it like… When your husband proposed to you.” Rose asked.

“Mmh I don’t remember when last someone asked me about my engagement. Lol. Let’s see, he called me to meet him at Dopchim Lodge. It was around 19hrs.” “Mum and Dad were not around, my sister had been missing from home the whole day. So I couldn’t go out. I waited for Mum to come back and then I sneaked out of the house.” Chongolo giggled as she narrated.

“Why sneak out? Weren’t your parents aware of you and him?” She asked.

Just then Maluba joined them outside in her Adidas outfit.

“They knew Peter, but never allowed him over once it was passed 18hrs. So after sneaking out, I met up with his friend who had come to pick me up.” She laughed.

“What are you talking about?” Maluba asked.

“Her engagement.” Tiny Rose said in whisper.

“We arrived, the place wasn’t fully packed. We went inside and found all our close friends, Nyambe was there, My sister and others. It was more like just a regular outing since we had done such before.” She said.

“As we were eating, he held me by the hand and took me to the swimming pool. I didn’t want because it was cold and I had nothing warm on, he gave me his jacket in an instance and then he said he wanted to close my eyes.” “We went outside, he asked me to open my eyes. I was facing the swimming pool, inside were the words ‘Marry Me’ floating on the water.
