Chapter 49

Hazel’s p.o.v

Looking at the sheets and then at him, I gave him a questioning look.

“A change for your bedsheet and pillow.”

“Oh! Thank you.”

It was after he left my mind went back to my painted nails.

The sheets must now be stained with the polish on my nails, the cause of the surprise that came with his unexpected showing up at my room door after a week of avoiding me.

Luckily the nail polish only stained a sheet which was the closest to my painted nails.

The white car got hit from behind by another car, then flipped over from the effect.

It landed on the side of the road, now upside down, with smoke rising from it. The car that was hit by another car from behind was my boss’ car which I have been taking to work.

I got dressed in a light brown sweater over a pair of white joggers after taking my bath. I was planning to go out for an early morning jog since it was my day off, I could start the day with that. I checked for the time on my wristwatch which showed 6:20am, before going ahead to tie the lace of the sneakers I had on.

I jogged covering a long distance with my headphone on, listening to songs before returning back. Immediately I reached the gate, my phone rang.

It was a call from Annabel.

“Hey girl, good morning.” She yelled over the phone.

“Morning. What’s up?”

“How are you doing this beautiful morning?”

“I’m good. Just got back from jogging.”

“Really, but why does your voice sound so dull, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, just had a bad dream.”

“Do you want to tell me about it?”

“It’s just… I dreamt that I had an accident with madrigal’s car. It seemed just so real.”

“You don’t have to be in a bad mood because of that, it might actually be because you were out so late with your team at a club last night. With the noise and everything, could be because you are not used to it. Wait, did you drink?”

“I didn’t drink.”

“Anyway, the dream is nothing to worry about. Once in a while people have bad dreams, you just have to be careful while driving. It could be a warning.”

“You might be right?”

“I and Jake are going out to have fun today, will you like to come with us?” She asked.

“Why should I? I don’t want to spoil you guys fun. If I’m there with you, you guys won’t be able to…”

“He suggested you come along himself.”

“Did he? What time?” I asked quickly.

“Were you expecting me to say that before?”

I let out a small laugh.

“Maybe.”

“It’s twelve in the afternoon.”

“Alright. I will get ready before then. Where are we going to meet?”

“We will come and pick you up. What about Madrigal?” She asked, her words coming out muffled a little as it seemed like she was chewing something in her mouth.

“He’s good.”

“Just good? Are you guys still not getting along?”

“We are not. We are far from that.”

“He is still cold towards you I guess?”

“Not all the time. I think he is bipolar. He’s got this mood swing thing. What are you eating?” I tried to change the topic.

“Toasted bread.” She answered.

“How can you be eating when I’m not? You are making me feel more hungry that way.”

“Don’t you accuse me of something like that, you should find something to eat if you are hungry.” She yelled over the phone.

“Geez! Why are you yelling? You are going to damage my eardrum.”
