“I just don’t feel like talking to him right now.” Maluba said as she tried to hide her sadness behind her fake smile.

“You don’t have to fake it. So what do you think about Bwalya?” Rose smiled. Maluba didnt see that question coming her way, she giggled.

“Am not talking about the neighbors, what if they hear us.” She said.

“I don’t think that’s going to happen. So spit it out I want to know.” Rose insisted.

“His handsome, I just think his full of himself… his like a play boy.” Maluba noted.

“Play boy, that’s better. I thought he was a f**kboy. He just has this way of making people feel ridiculously free with him. Its always the good ones that are bad.” Rose said sharply, “What about the other one… what do you think.”

“Didnt we have this conversation already?” Maluba responded with a laugh.

A week passed after the House Meeting, everything was going well even though Max and Maluba were not on the same page.

“Come on Max, you promised you would talk to her.” Samuel complained as they stood outside watching the pupils.

“Am sorry I promised, that girl freaks me out. If you really like her, try talking to her.” Max said with a smile.

“There is nothing to smile about here, I just want you to put in a good word for me.” Samuel nagged.

“A good word? I wish I could do that for myself.” He laughed.

Just as they stood there, Doris walked up on them to say hi.

“Morning Sir!” She smiled.

“Hello… how are you?” Samuel responded first. Max just gave a short wave that was accompanied by a smile.

“I send you a few links to the notes you asked for… did you get them?” Max asked Doris.

“Yes I did. Thank you very much. That’s what I wanted to come and thank you for…” She said happily.

While the two glowed like bulbs, Samuel was confused as he was left out of what was happening. Nevertheless, he waited until she left to ask Max what was going on.

“Am I missing something?” He asked.

“Not at all. what makes you think you missing something?” Max asked him.

“The part were you send her study material. Can you explain that?” He asked.

“We have been chatting a lot of Messenger lately…” Max whispered.

“What?” “And you didn’t care to tell me?” Samuel demanded.

“Thats exactly why I didn’t want to tell you. I knew you would make a big deal out of it.”Max responded.

“Are you being for real? You an icon at this school, am not going to sit and watch you mess yourself up by dating that kid.” Samuel exclaimed.

“Keep your voice down.”

“I will not keep my voice down. Imagine what would happen if Big MP found out!” Samuel said.

“Its not like am sleeping with her… we just texting that all.” Max objected.

“It starts from there big head. How can you be academically smart and emotionally foolish at the same time?” He asked him.

“Should I answer that?” Max asked.

“Dont even think about it. That girl looks like trouble bro. I hope you know what you getting yourself into.” Samuel said with a sad tone to his voice.

“Am not getting into anything, am just a teacher whose helping out a pupil. That’s all.” Max said as he winked his eye requesting Samuel to cut the topic because Maluba was walking up to them.

“Hi, Sorry but can I have a word with you?” She politely asked.

Ever since the house meeting Maluba had cooled down, she was no longer bitter and pushy like she use to be. After all, she did admit to Rose that she liked Bwalya even though she wounds love to get involved with him.

“Hey, is everything okay?” Max asked her.

“I wanted to jump in on your debate team a one of the teachers, so I was directed to you.” Maluba said.

“Okay, that’s good. we can always need new hands on the job.” Max responded. His friend kept gazing at her like she was a rare rose that only grew in the heavens.

“You can check up with the school secretary, she will give you a form that you need to sign. And then I will communicate.” Max said in a l voice.

“Thank you very much. And am really sorry about last time… I know we started off in a bad way…” Before she could finish her apology Max shushed her.

“This is work. you don’t need to bring that up.”

“Does that mean we good?” She asked him.

“Maybe we are. Is there something else you would like to ask?” Max asked her.

She refused and left them alone.

“Oh! son I was invincible neh?” Samuel shot at Max.

“What you mean, am sure sh could clearly see you.” Max laughed.

“Its not funny. All you had to do was introduce me to her… ‘Hi, this is my friend Samuel’ is such a thing hard to do?” He questioned.

“Ooh, now look whose talking. Should I remind you what Big MP is going to do if he finds out that you chasing after the new female Teachers? You know his policy…” Max laughed.

Mengo and Rose were still fighting, even though she ha made up her mind that it was over… she hadn’t found through guts to tell him.

MENGO: “Have said am sorry. What do you want me to do? write your name on the moon?”

ROSE: “Am sick of your accusations. It hurts that the man I love and call my own thinks of me as some loose girl who can be easily taken advantage of.”

MENGO: “I’ve said am sorry.”

ROSE: “You always say sorry. Am tired of all that Mengo. Instead of building me you keep making me feel bad about myself. That’s all you do.”

MENGO: “Am gonna change. I was just stressed that’s all. That day, I had spent close to 10 hours underground. I didn’t mean to lash it on you.”

ROSE: “Am in class, I would appreciate if you stopped texting me now.”

MENGO: “Baby.”

She ignored his baby text, it was only a matter of time before he could show up.

Chongolo on the other hand was battling with how to tell Peter that she wanted to give motherhood a try. She knew he was going to be excited, this was a huge sacrifice on her part and all she wanted was for him to see how much giving up on her future in order to have a baby was of much importance.

“How are the twins?” Chongolo asked Nyambe as they spoke on the phone.

“They are doing great. How’s Peter?” “Did you tell him?” She asked.

“I haven’t told him yet, the dude has been acting like a monster lately. We do it almost every day.” Chongolo said as she laughed.

“Trust me, monster is a good thing. You don’t want him acting up and not requesting for the candy.” Nyambe giggled as she spoke.

“I know, its just that the time he use to act like that was when we just got married.”

“Then it’s good his rekindled the fire of making love. Trust me, the old age is waiting on you and if you don’t enjoy it now, you will forever live in regret.” Nyambe said cheerfully.

“Enough about me, let’s talk about you now…” Chongolo said.

“Hubby and I are not kicking it off like you guys. I mean, the sex as just become boring… same stuff every single day.” Nyambe complained.

“Have you told him about it?” She asked.

“Tell him? I can’t do that. You know how men are with their ego. Telling him the sex is boring would be like crushing him.” Nyambe responded.

“So you saying you should rather suffer than break his ego?” Chongolo asked.

“Something like that.“She responded.

“Then I guess old age is already knocking at your door.” Chongolo said as they both laughed.

Nyambe knew very well that her friend had a point, but there was more to the story than just that. Her husband was always tired for sex and would rather sit down playing FIFA the whole night once he knocked off from work.

He wasn’t the type to cheat, but something wasn’t right with him for the past 2 months and he was not talking about it. Nyambes husband was never good at communication, opening up was still a problem for him even though he was married. And that was what Nyambe never loved, she always felt like she was interrogating him.

“Peter sends his apologizes for not making it.” Chongolo said to her friend who was overwhelmed and kept laughing at a joke that was made.

“Tell him to send his apologies with pizza on top.” Nyambe responded.

“You need to stop bullying my husband.” Chongolo giggled.

“If it wasn’t for me, you two wouldn’t even be married by now. Remember – Remember!” Nyambe said sharply.

“We are not talking about that.” Chongolo laughed.

“I think you should tell him, he would really be happy to know that his going to be a father.” Nyambe commented.
