Chapter 22&23

Training ground**

“Dear students, the reason why I called upon each and every one of you here is to congratulate y’all. You did a great job also we’re sorry for not telling you all but we had out reasons for so. You know that there is a snitch among us therefore precautions should be taken.” Principal Michael said.

The students murmured amongst themselves…

“You all can go and rest. Prepare well for tomorrow” He said and walked away.

Kaitlyn was the first to leave the ground heading to her hostel…

“I’m so tired!!” Sophia whined stretching her arms.

Connor swept her feet from the floor,floor carrying her in a bridal style before walking out of the training ground. Ava busily glared at them with arms crossed.

“Hey Nora” Gideon smiled..

“Yes? Any worry” Nora asked

“Do you mind being my date at the ball of tomorrow” Gideon asked.

Nora smiled and nodded.

“Sure, I’ll love to” She replied.

“Cool! Wanna stroll?” He asked.

“Gladly” Nora said and they walked away.

Kadence turned to see Liam but he already left long ago. Kadence shrugged and left too, Eric followed suit…

“K-d! Thank goodness you’re alright. C’mon let’s go to the mall nearby and get ourselves some gowns” Emma said.

“Bills on me!” Lisa said.

“Cool! Where’s Sophia?” Emma asked.

“We’re here ” Sophia replied, coming with Nora.

“Perfect, let’s go and have some fun!!” They said and began leaving the mall…

“What did you just say?” Khalil thundered.

Zara flinched back a little…

“We’re sorry Master. We never knew they were going there prepared” Reina replied.

“They were prepared? How was it possible? That means one of our spies has turned against us. I hope it’s not that my useless brother” Khalil snarled.

“He has a brother as a spy in our school? How does he look like?” Zara thought.

“Boss we’re sorry. You know it’s not really our fault you see prince-”

“Shut up” Khalil raised his hand and Reina crashed on the wall. He pinned her on the wall with his powers.

“I’m…sorry…yo..your highness” She managed to say.

“Next time I talk, don’t dare open that big mouth of yours” He said and released her.

He swept his hair backwards and glared at them.

“If this things repeats itself tomorrow, just run far away because if I catch you…” He paused and looked intensively at them.

“I’ll make you guys suffer so much that you’ll beg me to ki*ll you” He said and left…

Zara stared at where he left. This whole thing was starting to scare her…

The Mall, 03:48pm**

“Wow, this crop top looks so good on you!” Kadence complimented Nora who blushed.

“Thanks K-d” She replied and went in to change back.

“K-d, come and try this gown. I’m sure it’ll fit you” Emma said and handed the gown to Kadence.

“I don’t know. Won’t it be costly?” Kadence asked.

“C’mon, shop freely. The bills are on me” Lisa said and winked.

“Okay” Kadence took the dress and went in a cabinet to check it out.

Once she was done wearing it, she walked out of the cabinet. The girls gasped when they saw her.

“How do I look?” Kadence asked, twirling around.

“You look…gosh!! So beautiful, too beautiful that I wonder if your a goddess” Emma said.

Kadence chuckled and looked at the dress. It was a red off shoulder floral gown with black shiny stones adorned all round waist also at the tip of the dress. A beautiful design was now done around the chest part.

“I think I’ll take this one.” Kadence said.

“Cool! Everyone has a dress now, so let’s go!” Emma said and clapped her hand together.

They all paid for the dresses before leaving the mall.

“Let’s go and party for a while.” Sophia said.

They took a taxi which drove them to the nearest snack bar.

Few minutes later**

Sounds of laughter were heard coming from a table.

“C’mon Lisa, stop making the poor Romeo suffer.” Emma laughed.

“What? I mean he confessed to me in his drunk state who does that?” Lisa said.

“At least he confessed to you. Not like some of us who’ll wait till eternity for our crush to confess to us but still…”Kadence sighed.

They looked at her…

“You’re talking about Liam right?” Sophia said.

“No!” She quickly denied it.

“Just look at her trying to lie to us. We know you have a certain attraction towards him. He’s handsome” Emma said and wiggled her brows.

“I’m sure he is well built, full package” Lisa said and wiggled her brows too…

“Plus I’m sure he’s filthy rich” Nora wiggled her brows.

“And I’m sure he must be a s*x god. His touch must be magical and his caresses…oh God!” Sophia gushed.

“Stop!” Kadence blocked her ears trying as much as possible not to think of those perverted things.

The girls laughed seeing their tricks worked perfectly well on Kadence.

“You can’t lie to us. We know you love him..” Lisa said getting serious.

“Happy me! Will never fall in love” Emma said and smiled.

“We’ll see about that” Kadence replied.

Next Day, 07:15pm**

“Wow, you all look so gorgeous!!” Connor said when the girls walked out of their hostel.

“But you babe, you look more ravishing to me” Connor said and pulling Sophia closer, stealing a kiss from her.

“Will you quit oppressing us?” Nora said and faked a frown.

Connor and Sophia laughed…

Gideon walked towards them. Yuhuhu!!! He was dripping hot. He styled his hair differently, wearing a white shirt with a red suit on top of it and black pants.

“Wow is a train nearby because I’m sure it dropped a package of hot guys” Emma said.

Gideon chuckled and returned his gaze back to Nora. She was just too beautiful to ignore. Nora tugged her hair behind ear, slightly getting nervous.

Gideon could still see she was wearing the necklace he gave her last time. Well it wasn’t a gift meant for her but he’s glad he did gave it to her that really beautifies the the blue dress she was wearing…

“Hey guys” Eric said putting his phone I his pocket. He looked so handsome and hot in his white and black suit.

Beside him was Liam who had his hands in his pocket with that usual cool expression on his face.

He let his black long hairs fall freely on his shoulders. He was wearing a pitch black suit with a silver earring on his right ear. His looks was so killing!

“Where’s Kadence” Emma asked.

Liam went and leaned on the wall watching them. Well he wasn’t the chatty type of person.

“I’m sorry guys, I couldn’t find my heels so I had to-”

Kadence paused when she saw Liam…

“Holy f*vking sh*t” She muttered with her her eyes and mouth wide open.

Liam couldn’t get his eyes off her too. His gaze traveled all through her body, her smooth and spotless long arms, her bare shoulders with only a necklace hanging round her neck, those pretty round eyes of hers and then her naturally pouted lips which was now painted with a light pink color making it more alluring….

Eric looked away, feeling uncomfortable around there…

“Uhm guys. Heyo!! Back to earth” Lisa snapped her fingers making Kadence jolt back to reality. She quickly looked away from Liam.

“Since everyone is here, let’s get going!!” Nora smiled and they began leaving.

“Where will the ball take place?” Kadence asked.

“At the palace of course. That’s where the Queen lived right?” Sophia replied.

They walked out of the school. Sophia hired a limousine. They boarded it and then drove off…

Palace, 08:03pm**

The hall was so spacious, beautifully decorated with people entering in their numbers. Since it was only the supernatural who knew about the Queen and other tales related to it, they were the only ones present.

The supernatural entered in their number. Both the old and young ones were there. Kadence and co. walked in while admiring the hall.

Before anybody could enter, the person was thoroughly checked in case it was an intruder or a spy.

Zara and Reina couldn’t come since to the others they were normal human beings.

“See you guys later…”Sophia said and walked away with Connor.

Eric and Lisa went to Eric’s parents. Since they were supernatural too, they came.

“Eric” Calvin (Eric’s junior bro) rushed to him and hugged him.

Eric carried him and hugged him tightly. Honestly he missed them a lot. Lisa hugged Eric’s mother.

“We missed you guys so much. How is Diamond High?” Eric’s mother asked.

“Is that lasagna that I see? Omg!” Emma said and rushed to get some from the banquet.

“Wanna dance?” Gideon asked to Nora.

“Oh…hmm” She nodded with a smile. He stretched his hand and she took it before they left for the dance floor.

Kadence scratched her neck uncomfortably when it was only her and Liam standing. Romeo already left to see Eric’s parents.

Liam was busy pressing his phone. He looked up and saw it was only him and Kadence. That prompted him to keep his phone in his pockets.

“Let’s get something to drink” Liam said and held Kadence’s hand. She looked at their hands and then at him. Right now, she could feel the sparks going on.

A waiter passed by and served them two non alcoholic wine. They sipped on it.

“You look extremely beautiful tonight” Liam said, still not getting his eyes off her body.

“Thanks” Kadence replied.

The sound of a trumpet was heard. They turned to where it was…

“My fellow men and women. If we are here is not just to party but to grieve too. Today makes it exactly 18 years that our beloved queen passed away. Our kind will never be the same without her…” A priest said with a sad face.

“Tonight we’re gonna give the floor to our highness princess Kaitlyn to pay her homage to her beloved mother” The priest said.

Kaitlyn slowly descended the stairs majestically looking as beautiful as ever. The people whom she passed bowed slightly to her.

She walked to were a golden coffin was placed and then touched it with a sad smile on her face.

“Will forever miss you mom” She said and kissed the white rose she held in her hand before placing it on the coffin. She bowed deeply before retreating…

The others then followed. Those who had their homage to pay, paid it by placing white roses round the coffin…

“That must be sad. Loosing your mother before you grow up” Kadence said sadly.

“I pity Kaitlyn. Even if I never knew who my real family is, at least I was adopted and I had a taste of what family love was. She has a huge responsibility to carry out at such a tender age.” Kadence said watching Kaitlyn…

“That’s life to you. Wanna dance?” Liam asked, placing his glass on the table.

“Gladly…” Kadence replied and placed her tiny hands on his. He held it and they walked to the dance floor.

Liam snaked his hand on Kadence’s waist holding the other hand. Kadence placed her free hand on his shoulder.

Some other people were also dancing crowding up the dance floor.

They began swaying to the rhythm of the music. Kadence’s gaze never left Liam’s face same as Liam.

She suddenly began remembering how they met, how he always protect her, how he always wants her give her best, how he always helps her achieve her goals…

“Why can’t you love me?” Kadence suddenly asked with eyes that looked at him with nothing but….love.

“I’m sorry, what?” Liam asked with furrowed brows.

“Why can’t you love me, the way I do?” She asked. Liam halted on his movements. What followed was a staring competition.

Kadence held his hand and placed it on her chest.

“Feel how fast my heart is beating. That’s how fast it beats each time I’m with you. I tried controlling it but I just can’t. You make me smile without even trying, you always care for me and always protect me just like a guardian angel will do. Tell me are you the man in my dreams?” Kadence asked.

Liam opened his mouth to speak then closed it back. He opened again and closed it back. His greatest fear finally came true…

Kadence suddenly hugged him tightly…

“I know it might sound shameless for a girl to ask a guy out but imma do it. I love you so much and I can’t take it anymore. Can I be yours?” Kadence muttered.

Liam took deep breaths and held her shoulders, pulling her away from him. He cupped her cheeks with a heavy look on his face.

“Kitty, I’m sorry but my answer is a no. We aren’t meant for each other…” Liam said.

“But why?…” Kadence asked, already feeling teary.

“It just can’t be. You’re pretty and all but I just can’t, I’m a magnet of danger and I don’t want you getting hurt. I can’t be able to take it” Liam spoke softly.

“I will bear the danger. No matter what it is” Kadence said with great determination.

“Kitty listen-”

Before he could finish talking, she shut him up by pressing her lips on his. His eyes widened in shock. She just kissed him!!

Kadence pulled away when he didn’t kiss her back.

“Please?” She whispered.

“I’m sorry” He whispered back and removed his hand from hers then turned and began walking away.

Kadence watched him as he walked out of the hall. She turned and ran away in tears. The pin she used to pack her hair up fell, making her hair flow behind as she ran.

“I love you” Kadence’s words rang in his head. He closed his eyes, trying to shake it off but it was impossible.

“It’s for the better Kitty. I’m not gonna bring any good things except pain and regret to you” Liam muttered.

Liam looked around. No one was looking at his direction. He vanished away.

Almost immediately, the vampires surrounded the palace. Liam was unaware…

DEMON KINGDOM

“Your majesty! The crowned prince has returned” A maid announced rather fearfully. Everyone know the crowned prince is very very ruthless…

“Wow! Maybe he has a very wonderful surprise for us. Let him in!” King Rhys said while smiling…

The maid left. Sounds of footsteps were heard coming.

“Welcome back your highness” The guards bowed deeply while greeting.

King Rhys smile grew when he walked in the throne room.

“I missed you so much son” Rhys smiled.

“Summon Khalil and that useless Reina… Now!!!” Guillermo said with nothing but raw anger in his face….
