MADALITSO

MADALITSO – Prologue

A story by Jochrine Kunda

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path” ~Agatha Christie

“A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms even when his hands are empty”~unknown

I’ve never come across my mother’s smile, eyes, scent, warmth, love and care. My father, his voice I’ve never heard, his laugh my ears have never heard, his touch I’ve never experienced. Only heaven knows if the earth has swallowed them or if they are out there but don’t know of my existence. My grandmother has been everything to me, the reason I live and hold on to any trials and tribulations I come across and always ask God to keep her safe for me, I even call her mom that’s how important she is to me, she is a tailor and owns a shop in town with two employees who help her with her sewing business. My mother’s young sister, Aunt Linda and her daughter Taonga live with us, Aunt Linda is thee slay queen always chowing money and Tsonga follows her steps. We are both doing 12th Grade and y’all would swear that Taonga completed her studies six years ago by her looks because her make up, manicure and hairstyle are always on point and she changes weaves every weekend. I’m Madalitso Chisha aged 17, dark skinned with long silky hair and Taonga looks exactly like her mother

Grandma: my kids, supper is ready let me spoonfeed you

Me: just a minute mom, let’s just come up with the answer to this quadratic expression coz we’ve come a long way

Grandma: ohhhh!!! my baby how you love math you should also focus on other subjects too

Me: mom, Taonga had queries on how to go about it so I was showing her

Taonga: fileke web (leave it) besides I’m hungry (she stood up leaving)

Me: okay I’ll join you people in a minute

I finished up and joined them
