ASHA’S RESIDENCE*

Two days later….

Asha was combing Tara’s hair and she giggled, which made Asha wonder why she giggled.

“Baby why did you giggle?” Asha asked and she turned to her mom. Those beautiful eyes and small lips reminded her of Josh and she sighed.

No matter how hard she tries to forget about him, her daughter is always here to remind her about him. He was the father of her child and the guy who deflowered her, that was something she couldn’t deny.

Thinking about Josh reminds her of what happened in the restaurant that day. She kept on wondering who that lady was and what was Josh doing with her.

“Mommy are you ok?” Tara asked, jolting her from her thoughts and she smiled.

“Yes I am fine baby. So why were you giggling?”

“Your hand touched my scalp and it tickled, that was why I giggled.” she explained and Asha raised her brow.

“Really?”

“Yes mommy, it really tickled.” she responded with a smile and Asha smiled mischievously.

“Alright, here I come!” Asha screamed and before Tara could turn back, Asha had started tickling her.

“Mommy please stop.” Tara managed to say as her mom tickled her. It was a short moment but it was fun for both mother and child.

After a while Asha packed her daughter’s hair in a bun and tied her shoelaces properly before holding her hand and they both walked out of the house.

QUIN’S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*

Asha and Tara alighted from the taxi and she paid the driver before he Zoomed off. She looked at the little cash In her purse and she smiled faintly.

She knew she was going to be fine, even though it was her last cash in her purse, she was going to work really hard to make more.

This was the reason she didn’t pay for the school bus fee for Tara, because she knew she wasn’t going to meet up with the expenses.

“Mommy is getting late, I think we should go in.” Tara said, snapping her out from her thoughts again. Come to think of it, she has been thinking too much lately and she hated it but couldn’t help it.

“Yeah, you are right baby. Let’s go inside.” she replied. Tara held her pinky finger and they both walked into the school.

Meanwhile, somebody from the other end of the road was watching them from a car. After Asha Asha and Tara went inside the school, the person inside the car turned to the driver.

“Let’s go.” The feminine voice said and the driver drove off.

Asha held Tara’s hand tightly as they took long strides to her class. All of a sudden, Tara stopped and left her mom’s hand, she ran towards an elderly lady and hugged her by the waist, since it was the only place she could reach the lady.

Asha stood as she watched what was happening right in front of her. She wondered who the lady was and why on earth Tara would leave her alone and hug someone else.

“How are you?” the elderly lady asked.

“Am fine grandma, how are you and your son?” Tara asked and the woman squatted to her level. She caressed Tara’s face and the memories of her son started flowing in but she had no idea why.

Why is it that, anytime she sees this little girl, the memories of her son will start flowing…was it just a coincidence?

“Who’s she?” The woman asked Tara as she pointed at Asha.

“She’s my mommy, do you want to say hi?”

Before the woman could say a word, Tara had already held her fingers by dragging her to where her mom was standing.

“Good morning ma?” Asha greeted and the woman smiled.

“Your daughter is really beautiful and smart. Please don’t scold her for spending some time with me, I am not a stranger, we are familiar with each other.

Asha became happy, immediately she heard that she was really going to scold Tara but now she’s changed her mind.

“Alright baby, you are getting late for class, let’s go now.” Asha said and Tara waved at the woman telling her goodbye when she almost stumbled.

Asha sighed when she saw that her daughter’s shoe laces were out again. She really needed to change her shoe but she doesn’t have any cash now.

She bent down and started working on Tara’s shoe laces when her Pendant came out of her shirt. She was through with the adjustment of Tara’s shoe laces and she stood up.

The elderly woman’s eyes welled with tears when she saw the pendant on Asha’s neck. She walked closer, her footsteps similar like that of a ghost.

“Where did you get this pendant from?” She asked and as she caressed it….it was really written “Josh” on it, just like the one the gifted her son and her son’s name was josh.

”Somebody gave it to me, my daughter’s dad, is there something wrong?”

That was then it recalled to the woman that her Josh wasn’t a married man and he didn’t have any child.

“It’s just a coincidence.” she uttered.

“Pardon?” Asha said and she smiled before letting go of the pendant.

“It’s nothing much, the pendant just reminds me of someone.”

“Oh, sorry about that. We need to go now.” Asha said and held Tara’s hand while running to her class.

The woman looked at them till they were out of sight before she continued her cleaning.

NICOLE’S RESIDENCE*

Nicole was seated on one of the couches in the sitting room watching TV. She tried to concentrate but she just couldn’t. Her thoughts were all on camden.

“I wonder how he’s doing right now.” she muttered as she munched on a hot dog. She was the only one at home and it was frustrating.

She has really missed him so much and she couldn’t deny that. Even though he has a fault in his life, she didn’t hate him, instead she felt more attracted to him.

“Love is really stupid but I don’t care to be stupid as long as he loves me back.” she said with a smile.

She brushed the feeling off her mind and carried the remote as she changed the channel.
