“What did you say?” He barked

Eva shook in fear, shocked at the sudden change in his temper. She wondered if stating what section of the clan she wanted to be was enough to get him mad at her.

Except for the echoes of Eric throughout the hall, the place was dead silent. Eva had just committed an abomination for which many had been killed. No one dared question or object to Master Eric’s order.

The men stared at her with pity in their eyes. What they expected was for either Eric to sh00t her dead or order for a dagger to stab her to death.

“What the f**k did you say?” he thundered again when she didn’t give him a quick reply.

“I want to be on the field and not the computer section,” she repeated, oblivious that her response could earn her death.

He shook his head for a while and let out a breath. “I’ll think about that,” he replied calmly to the surprise of everyone and then turned to the men. “Get her out of here and take that device from her,” he ordered and walked away immediately.

“Eric,” Jonathan called as he ran him.

Eric sighed before he turned and looked at Jonathan.

“Do you think we should let her stay?” Jonathan asked.

Eric shut his eyes for a second. “Yes, I think we should. She doesn’t look harmless, does she?”

Jonathan raised his brows. “Really? You’re making this judgement with your feelings?

“What do you suggest we do?” Eric directed the question to him.

“ki*ll her and get rid of her body just like we did with the CIA Agents,” he opined.

Eric moved closer and placed a hand on his shoulder. “We can’t just get rid of her until we know who she is and what she wants. The CIA agents were just sniffing around without any valid information against us. But she knows we ki*ll people who come in here without invitation and she still came. If she works for an Agency outside, they’ve got proof that she was here and probably have the video too. So, if we ki*ll her, we might just be walking into a trap.”

Jonathan took in a breath. “I understand.”

“Good night, my friend,” Eric tapped Joe on the shoulder before he turned and walked away.

“You may sleep here,” the guard said as he led her into a small dirty room.

“What?” She widened her eyes at him. “Where do I lie here?”

He scoffed. “On the floor, of course.”

“I definitely can’t sleep in this dirty place. I’m not an animal,” she stuttered.

“You ain’t got no choice, girl. You’re lucky to still be breathing, you never know if you’d survive tomorrow. So you better get your a$$ to the floor happily.”

“What the f**k!” she cursed but he turned and proceeded out of the room without giving her another look.

She was still wondering how she would survive the dirty place overnight when she heard the door shut behind her. Her mind skipped a breath as the room suddenly turned dark. It was obvious the man had turned off the bulb from outside the room.

It was totally dark and she could barely see anything apart from the little reflection of light from the moon through the window. She turned and managed to find her way to the door. She held the knob and tried to open it but her effort was futile. Then she realized she had been put in a prison cell.

It had all been like a dream before but at this moment, she was sure she was awake. She was indeed now in the Nanl Assassin territory according to her plan for the last eight months. But was she really ready to live the life of an Assassin? She wasn’t so sure.

After standing and pacing around the room for a while, she got tired and decided to rest. She snorted at the thought of sitting or sleeping on the dirty floor but she had no choice. She found her way to a corner and tried to use her palms to clean the floor. It felt so dirty and was obvious that she couldn’t wipe it clean with her bare hands. She resigned to fate and finally sat down on the floor. She had her back resting against the wall and her knees raised.

Her mind wandered far back again to how she had gotten into the Nanl territory. It had taken her a month to study the map of the place and plan the entry. Her initial plan was to get to the master’s mansion without being noticed but that had failed. Regardless, she had gotten her final aim. Now she had to remain alive to become that assassin she wanted to be.
