12 PM

Eva stepped out of the elevator into the ground floor, rolling a small luggage box with her. She looked stunning in her black suit and newly made hair. She also had light makeup on which made her look way different from how she looked in the recruits uniform.

Jack spotted her from where he sat. She also noticed him. He waited until she was closer to the door before he got up from the waiting seat to join her.

“You look great, Eva,” he remarked with a light smile. He was also dressed in a black suit with a grey round neck inner shirt.

“Thank you, Jack,” she smiled back.

She waited for him to lead the way and followed him out. He led her towards a black Camaro jeep and unlocked the boot for her to put in the luggage. She dropped the luggage in and joined him in the car.

He was already seated at the driver’s side when she got in. “How did the session with Rose go?”

“It motivated enough for the task,” Eva answered, staring at Jack’s face. He didn’t seem satisfied with her short answer. So she continued. “It was great, except for the five hours induced sleep.”

Jack chuckled.

“Did they really have to put that chip in me?” Eva questioned, touching her shoulder where the chip had been implanted.

“Every Nanl agent has the RFID chip,” Jack replied as he pulled on the seatbelt. “And since you are going on a mission, we need it to track you.”

“Is it only for tracking purposes?”

Jack narrowed his gaze on her face, wondering why she seemed to bother about the chip. “No, it also lets us know when an agent’s heart stop beating.”

“Thank you,” Eva pulled her seatbelt on, refraining from asking further questions.

“We have five days to complete this task,” Jack stated and stared at her for a moment before starting the car engine. She knew of the seven days timeline already and she hoped to get the job done before then.

She shut her eyes and let out a deep breath as the car moved and they drove out of the Eagle building garage. After almost two months of being in the territory, she was finally going to see the real world again. But not as the former Eva Kendrick, but as an Assassin in training.

“Welcome to my safe house,” Jack opened the door for her to step in and followed after.

Eva walked in a few steps and paused to marvel at the apartment. It was a two-room apartment, perfect for a single person without kids. “This is where you work when you have a task?”

“Yes, but it also depends on the assignment location,” he answered and walked past her. He sank onto the couch and exhaled. “Unfortunately, I have only a bedroom in this apartment. That means one of us will have to sleep on the couch.”

Eva who was not paying attention to him walked towards the table where the computer was. She took off the piece of clothes covering the desktop and turned to Jack. “So, you’re allowed to use a computer here?”

“Yes, for work,” Jack replied.

“That means I’ve got something to use for my works too,” she remarked.

“Naah,” Jack shook his head at her with a warning look. “Not for your works, Eva. You can only use it for anything relating to your assignment.”

“That’s what I meant,” Eva scoffed and turned back to pick her luggage where she had left it.

“You can take that into the bedroom,” he said to her. “I guess I will have to use the couch while you’re here.”

“Thank you,” she smiled and stopped again to admire the apartment. “This place looks neat, you come here regularly?”

“At least once a week,” he answered. “But I was here yesterday to clean up the place.”

Without saying anything else, she continued into the room. A few minutes later, she returned changed into a gown.

“Here,” Jack stretched out a phone to her as she got closer. “You need a phone during the assignment period. You’ll hand it back after we’re done.”

“Thank you,” Eva took the phone from him and continued towards the computer.

“I must warn you, though. The Clan monitors every text and message that goes through that cell, so you can’t use it for anything personal,” Jack explained.

“I know that,” she turned to him briefly and then sat on the swivel in front of the table. “Besides, I don’t have a personal life anymore. I’m just a Nanl clan assassin.”

“Good girl but it’s the same with the computer, Eva. That’s also a Nanl Clan property,” he added.

“I understand that, boss,” she replied and eyed him before turning to the computer.

Jack smiled satisfactorily and rested his back on the couch. He was almost drifting into sleep when he heard Eva’s voice.

“I need you to unlock your computer.”

*Two Days After*

“I got us lunch,” Jack announced cheerfully as he walked into the apartment.

“Welcome boss,” she greeted him without looking. He walked to the table with the pack of food he got.

“We’ve got three days left, what’s your plan, Eva?” Jack’s tone into a serious one. He rested his bum partially against the table and folded his arms as he stared at her face.

She finally looked up. “I’ve been tracking Harry for two days. His home is well-secured, so killing him there is not an option. And he walks around with his two guards, which makes it difficult to reach him outside too. I have to go through them to ki*ll him.”

“That means you plan to ki*ll the three of them?” Jack’s brows rose.

“No, I have to find a way to get the two guards away from him. Or lure him away from them. Then, I can take him out,” she explained.

“You have to find that way fast, Eva,” he urged.

“I found one, already,” her face lit up.

“Okay, tell me,” he squinted.

“He meets with different girls at the club every Friday night. He parties hard and then goes home with them,” she continued. “All I need to do is identify the girl he is going with this Friday. But I have to monitor his calls and that of one of his guards to know.”

“And what’s stopping you from doing that?”

“I can’t do the monitoring alone,” she complained. “I need more hands.”

“You don’t have to do the monitoring,” Jack got up and faced up. “Send the details to the Clan’s IT department. They’ll get it done and give you the details.”

“Oh!” she heaved a sigh of relief. “I didn’t think they could help me with that.”

“You should have asked questions, that’s why I’m here,” Jack said before walking away.
