THE LUCAS’S MANSION*

The whole room was untidy as it was filled with so many squeezed sheets of papers.

Josh would write on another one, but if it doesn’t go the way he wants it, he will squeeze it and throw it at the other side of his room.

He has been searching through the internet for Asha but he got nothing and it frustrated the hell out of him. So he decided to try writing a letter to keep at the bar she was working in for four years but it’s also not working.

He squeezed the 50th sheet of paper and dropped his pen on his reading table. He itched his head badly and let out a groan.

” What is wrong with me? Why am I suddenly looking for a girl that I saw four years ago?” He asked himself and his subconsciousness whispered to him.

‘ you are looking for her because you raped her, so shut the f**k up and do your thing.’

Josh let out a loud laughter as he held his chest before speaking.

” I know I raped her but that doesn’t mean that I should look for her…but I can’t help it, than look for her…I always feel that she needs me…but why?”

He perceived himself and held his nose…after all he didn’t take his bath yesterday.

” Geez, I stink.” He said and immediately dashed into the bathroom.

Dinning*

Only the clanking of plates could be heard as everyone ate in silence. Camdan wasn’t eating, he was just using his fork to stab the meat. His dad had told him to spend the night here, because they will be having dinner together.

His mom noticed and she sighed, she knows he has lost his appetite and knows the reason behind it.

She passed the salad to him and poured more milk on his glass. He faced her and she diverted her gaze to her husband before she turned to him.

” You should eat something ok?”

” Am eating mom.” He simply replied.

” Am not sure you are eating because it seems you are murdering the poor meat.” His dad voice came in and he rolled his eyes.

Camdan dropped his spoon on his table in a bang and stood up. His eyes were blazing red and his eyelids were puffy as a result of him crying for hours.

” Am fed up, I’ve lost my appetite.” He made to go when his dad voice halted him on his track.

” Don’t you dare walk out on me camdan…you might regret it.”

” Camdan listen to your dad and seat down.” His mom pleaded and he bit his lips so hard before taking his seat.

Josh stood at a corner watching the whole scene, he shook his head sideways before descending down the stairs walking to the dining.

He took out a seat and sat down, wasting no time he started eating and everyone was giving him an awkward stare.

” Oh, my bad, am so sorry, Good morning y’all.” He greeted with a smile but got no response from anyone. But that wasn’t his problem, he came down because of a talk with his dad.

” Dad, I want to start working in the company too.” He suddenly said with giving anyone a glance.

” And why would you want to work at the company?” Mrs Lucas asked and he faced.

” Am getting married soon mom and besides am twenty four…I shouldn’t depend on my dad all the time.”

Mrs Lucas wanted to say something but her husband interrupted instead.

” I will see what I can do.” Mr lucas said and Josh uttered a thank you, then silence followed till breakfast was over.

GOLDEN HIGH SCHOOL*

The classroom was filled and everywhere went dead silent. Everyone was prepared for the test that and will take place in the next three minutes.

The students eyes were fixed ok the wall clock and their breathing was rapid. Some were scared while some was just feeling reluctant about the test… It was just a test right?

Three minutes had passed and the teacher started to share the results. He would share it to a roll and they would pass it along.

Otto glanced at Asha and gave her a thumbs up which she she responded with a smile. She had read a lot last night and she was so ready for it.

Soon the test started and everybody was writing so fast as their eyes were glued to their paper. After all they only have an hour and thirty minutes to finish up hundred questions.

At the other end of the class was Prudent who was writing so fast as sweat was rushing down her face heavily. She looked pale and her lips were turning to white already. She would write a little, then shook her head sideways like she’s dizzy.

Asha noticed was was happening to prudent and she stopped writing. Her gaze were all on Prudent and no one else, Otto stared at her and noticed she wasn’t writing, he then followed her gaze and caught her staring Prudent.

‘ why is she staring at her?’ he wondered as he also stopped writing.

After a while Prudent stopped writing as her hand was trembling badly. Her breath has also become rapid and she was feeling drowsy.

She stood up abruptly and the teacher diverted his gaze at her.

” Miss prudent if you are done already, please wait till everyone is…” He was cut f by the sudden thud.

Prudent had collapsed and the students gasped, Asha quickly left her desk and rushed to her. She placed her hand on her head and felt her temperature.

” She’s burning, make way!” Asha yelled and immediately carried Prudent on her back, while Otto and Leo trailed behind her.

She rushed her to the school’s infirmary and Prudent was immediately attended to.

” What happened to her?” Asha asked the nurse in charge.

” It seems she took boom juice.”

” What’s boom juice?” Asha asked with her eyes widened in surprise.

” It’s a juice that makes people, mostly students to hardly fall asleep…it stops one from sleeping and it’s dangerous when someone consumed more… it’s rare, I wonder where she brought it from.” The nurse explained.

” Oh…thank you.” Asha said still unable to believe her ears. She couldn’t believe her sister could take such a thing, but why would she? Is it because of the test?

” She will gain consciousness soon…so don’t get too worried…besides are you her sister?”

” Uh…no, she’s just a friend ma’am.” She replied and the nurse smiled.

” You are such a caring friend, keep it up.” The nurse replied and Asha simply smiled before the nurse walked out.

After a while, Prudent woke up with a yawn, she felt much better. She looked around her and that was when it occurred to her that she’s in the school’s infirmary.

She looked at the corner of her bed and when she saw Asha glaring daggers at her, her eyes almost popped out of it’s socket.

” Why did you drink that juice?” Asha asked calmly while Prudent remained silent.

” Am talking to you!” She yelled and Prudent flinched slightly on the bed as tears rushed down her eyes.

” Am sorry Asha, I just wanted to make sure I pass my test, mom said I need to or else I won’t make it to college.” Prudent said as she wept.

” Do you know that you almost killed yourself?! Asha yelled and she left her bed as she knelt in front of Asha with her her hands glued together.

” Am sorry sis, please forgive me.” Prudent said and Asha hugged her tightly.

” Shhhh, it’s ok, am sorry too.”

HONEY SALT’S KITCHEN*

Asha got to the restaurant after she was done with her second job. She found the restaurant sparkly cleaning.

The restaurant has always been clean but today’s own was exceptional. She touched the counter and couldn’t find a single dust on it.

She saw the workers and found out that they were sparking clean and their shirts were neatly ironed.

” Wow!” Asha exclaimed as she looked round the whole restaurant in satisfaction.

Her boss sighted her from afar and when he didn’t see her on her working clothes he got pissed off. He walked over to where she was seated and pulled her ear so hard.

” Ouch, it hurts!” Asha cried and her boss let go off her ear. She touched it and yelped in pain before facing her boss with a frown.

” What did I do sir?” She asked in a teary voice and her boss face palmed himself.

” Did you notice anything new in this restaurant?”

” Yes, it’s very clean and the workers are all dressed neatly.” She said and he slapped her shoulder.

” Except you, so now, go dress up and join the others in the kitchen?”

” Why, are we having a party?” She asked.

” No, the Lucas’s family are coming, you’ve heard of them right?”

” Yes, they are the backbone of Las Vegas and i heard he has two sons but I haven’t seen any of them.” She answered.

” Of cause, I also haven’t seen any of them.. besides what’s with the pendant, haven’t seen it before” Her boss said pointing at the pendant on her neck.

” It’s a secret sir, I wear it for good luck.” She replied and quickly entered the kitchen.

” That brat.” Her boss looked at her and smiled.

Mr Lucas and his family arrived at the restaurant and the body guards opened the door for them.

They stepped outside of the car and made their way towards the restaurant. They got inside and met the owner of the restaurant alongside with some of the workers as he welcomed them.

” You are welcome sir and am glad to have you here” The owner of the restaurant said Mr Lucas smiled.

” It seems everything is going quite alright over here.”

” It’s all thanks to you sir, your sponsorship have helped us a lot.” He replied and Mr Lucas smiled before he moved over to a table, while his family trailed behind.

He had told them earlier that they would all have lunch together to celebrate a contract that they had been signed…a contract that they had worked for five years now.

The female workers seem to drool over Josh and when they saw Camdan that was when they knew that he’s one of the Lucas’s son.

Camdan looked around but couldn’t find Asha and he sighed sadly. He badly wants to see her, even though he has ended things with her.

After a while he saw Asha coming out of the kitchen holding a tray and he smiled. Josh saw his happy expression and followed his gaze.

‘ it seems she’s the girl he likes’ he thought.

Asha was walking towards their table and when she looked up and saw Josh, she stopped right on her track with her eyes almost bulging out of it sockets and the tray fell from her hands.
