Chapter 4

Wulfgur got to the palace and was welcomed by his ministers from the beast kingdom. He groaned seeing them. What are they here for? He didn’t remember asking them to come today.

“What is it again? Is there anything urgent that you want to tell me?” He asked them as he sat on his large throne. There must be something that’s really bothering them. Seeing their worried face, one could tell.

“Our King-Emperor,” The minister of defense stepped forward among others and bowed. Wulfgur hates it when they call him that.

He didn’t even know why he doesn’t want to be called emperor. Even if it’s a unique and great name, he prefers it when they call him king instead.

“Speak.” He commanded.

“We are not sure if the king emperor is still concerned about what is currently happening. The beast kingdom is in danger. They are being hunted by human hunters every night. Some has been captured yesterday.” The short old man said. “Please, find a solution to this.” He added before he stepped back.

The beast kingdom isn’t safe anymore. That was his favorite kingdom among the kingdoms he’s ruling. Maybe that was because he’s from the beast kingdom too.

“What about the sentinels? They didn’t try to catch any of the hunters?” Wulfgur questioned.

“They were already gone before they could get there. It was too late.” One of the ministers replied.

Wulgur breathed exhaled, maybe it’s high time the soldiers attack right now and not wait any longer.

He turned to the head minister and questioned, “What do you have to say about it?”

Just what was on Wulgur’s mind, “Let’s attack them. It’s high time they stop this nonsense. We have to stop them, my emperor” The man answered.

“Alright. Gather both the U.S and the Royal armies too, Minister Josiah. We are attacking tomorrow. I guess we’ve found out where they are now.” He was talking to the minister of defense. He was also the general leader of the royal armies.

The man nodded and bowed.”As you wish your majesty. I shall prepare myself and the armies.”

“You don’t have to come. Since I will be there myself. You’re getting old, I don’t want you to die in a battle. Especially by those hunters.” The King told him.

Minister Josiah looked up at the King and knelt down,”My King, I’ve been fighting wars since my early life. I don’t mind dying in a battle.”

Bur Wulfgur insisted he stay. Finally, Josiah accepted to stay. His mind though was not completely at rest. The hunters, their main aim is to catch Wulgur who has been ruling about three kingdoms altogether. He was a great King and Emperor who has lived more than a thousand years. Although, Capturing the King is a very very difficult task. But Josiah knew those hunters won’t stop until they find every means to pull him down.

“We are going to attack them without warning tomorrow. I guess Fredrick already has a successor now.” The Kind smirked got up from his throne. “Do you have anything to say other than that?” He turned to them.

“The actual price of petroleum has been decreasing. The Romans aren’t settling with us too.” The Minister of finance was the one who spoke.

“I will meet with the Romans when I’m back tomorrow. About the petroleum, I will visit the market tomorrow and try to settle out some things. You all can go back now. I need to be left alone.” Wulfgur stated and left after the ministers were dismissed.

*********

“Is the anything you’d like me to bring for you, my King?” The chief maid was the oldest amongst the maids in the palace.

And he was Wulgur’s favorite. He sometimes took her as his mother as she’s always there for him.

“You don’t have to worry, Ma Grace. I’m fine. How’s your grandson now? Is he okay, now?”
Wulgur answered not turning to her but concentrating on the scroll he was trying to read.

“Thanks to his majesty. He’s doing very well now. More healthy than before.”Answered Ma Grace. “I will leave since you won’t be needing anything.” She stepped back and walked away with the other maids at her back.

Thirty minutes later, Wulgur was already outside staring at the soldiers who were damn prepared to go on war but that will be tomorrow.

“I’ve prepared two hundred soldiers, your majesty.” Minister Josiah said with a smile. At least, if he won’t be going there tomorrow with his majesty, there will be enough soldiers to protect him.

“You shouldn’t have prepared this much. Two hundred is just……urgh, I know you’re doing this for my sake but i will be fine over there.”

“Still. They are going with you.” The minister stated.

“Alright.” Wulfgur barely concentrated on his minister’s words as his eyes caught Lun, his mate. He was wearing the yellow cloth around his arm used for identifying those that’d be going with the king tomorrow. He gulped hard. He won’t let Lun risk his life on that coming deadly battle.

If his mate get hurt or die like the first time, he’d end his life by himself.

“Don’t let that male come tomorrow.” He pointed to Lun.

“Why? I heard he’s your new kind of bodyguard so I assumed he will help too.”

“No,…..” He clenched his fist. “Don’t let him come. You can replace him with another soldier. Just don’t let him come.” Wulfgur commanded in a calm voice.

“Alright, Your Majesty. I will do as you wish.” The minister bowed and continued his walk with the king. As he walked, he kept wondering why the king removed the young man from coming.

************

“I thought I asked minister Josiah not to let you come!!!!” The king yelled, surprised to see Lun with the soldiers.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t just agree with him like that. I’m your personal soldier and I should do my best to protect you.” Lun bowed.

Wulfgur breathed out. It is better to protect his mate than Lun trying to protect him.
Just before he could think more deeply as they almost reached the Beast kingdom, two of the cars got bombed on the way.

The hunters are around. Maybe a spy already told them they were coming. “Get down, Lun!” Wulfgur snapped at Lun but the young male wasn’t ready to obey the commands of the king.

Instead, just as the car stopped, Lun came down and walked in the direction where the damaged cars were.
“You can do your best to protect the king and not him protecting you,” Lun told herself and smiled.

She didn’t see the bullets coming towards her, she was shot but before the second and third could get to her, Wulfgur appeared just instantly and covered her, taking the bullets for her.

He squeezed her cloth tight, enduring the pain. Silver bullets. He can still manage.

“You’re shot!!” He whispered into her ear.

He’s concerned about her and not him? Is the King…..crazy? He was shot more than her?

But before she could reply, she felt her eyes heavy. “I’m dizzy” She whispered back.

“I will ki*ll those who tried to hurt you.” His voice came out dead serious. “Won’t let them hurt you the second time, not when I’m still alive.” He mumbled but Lun didn’t hear that has she almost slipped out of Wulgur’s embrace but she was caught. Her eyes were already closed.
