El Antiguo Guerrero

Chapter 19

Rey was seen riding his horse in a gentle motion and also lost in thought; beside him stood John, Eden, together with the twins, Coven and Conor.

On Rey’s right hand is the compass, which is directing him to the god’s temple.

“We are almost there,” Eden elucidated. “Just a few more miles, and we would reach the temple and everything would be settled.”

“I hope it was easier to do as you think,” Rey simply replied, before getting lost in his world again. Many thoughts ran through his mind at once, and he could feel that his head was about to explode due to everything that was happening within forty-eight hours. First it is his sister on the quest for the sword, then the attack on the pack house and the loss of her father. He had just recovered from a coma, only to discover that the amulet had been stolen. Worst of all, the traitor is here; amidst them or back in the pack house.

Even so, he trusted Adrian and McCloud to take care of the pack till he returned. But still, he couldn’t help but feel something bad was about to occur or that he was missing something. It was just that he couldn’t decipher how or when.

“Here we go,” John’s tiny voice broke into his world. “That is the entrance over there.” There was indeed an entrance that led straight and deeper into the so-called god’s temple, but it was dark inside. Rey swallowed the saliva in his mouth, which he hadn’t noticed before, and jumped down from his horse. Besides him, his men also did the same, and each one looked around curiously and anxiously for any sign of either human or living activity.

After standing for what seemed like forever, Rey took a deep breath and proceeded towards the entrance of the temple. He looked back, and he could see his men unsheathing their weapons and getting ready just in case of any surprise attack.

Rey knew it was now or never, switching on his wolf’s vision because he didn’t want any surprise attack either, especially one that could jeopardize his mission. He finally pushed his leg forward and they reacted accordingly to his will, walking straight into the temple.

Rey could feel the deadly aura radiating inside the temple, while his body started getting cold without any river or snow nearby. Rey looked back towards the direction of his men, and he could feel their fear and eagerness to retrieve the amulet, or rather, turn back and retreat. All of them have activated their wolf vision and their weapons are well gripped in their hands.

A scary voice was heard, but they couldn’t decipher where it was coming from as it boomed throughout the whole temple. “I hope you enjoyed your journey here.” The voice boomed.”And let me assure you, no one invaded the god’s meeting temple and left to tell the tale.”

“Says someone who is talking from the shadows,” Coven replied before Rey could speak.

“I am sure my servant did a good job by giving you the wrong map and taking you through the wrong route, I would surely love to give you a slow and painful death, only if you surrender yourself. But, going against my order leads to nothing but everlasting torment.”

Rey stood without even moving from the same spot, but one could see that millions of thoughts were running through his head. He was still wondering what was going to happen since they had already fallen into a trap and who the main villain was, when something clicked in his mind. Rey could remember Eden’s words clearly when he said that Franni had scattered everything in the whole library, just because she was looking for a book that didn’t exist, and it took Beta Adrian three days before he was able to arrange everything back.

He could also remember Eden’s last words before they reached the god’s temple: “we are closer to the god’s temple and everything will soon be over.” The question is, what is Eden doing in the library when he undoubtedly hates reading? How does he know that beta Adrian re-arranged the book within three days and how does he know that they will soon arrive at the god’s temple? Even though, it sounds as a stupid clue to him, but it mustn’t be ignored.

Without wasting any more seconds, Rey turned back to his men and Decided to question Eden but it was too late. He could see a silver knife coated with dark magic coming towards his direction, while Eden held an evil smirk on his lips. Something he hadn’t anticipated before; He was too shocked to react or rather make a move. One of his trusted friends, not just anyone; but his best friend is the traitor. Rey closed his eyes in grief, half expecting the knife to Pierce straight into her chest so he could be freed.

But instead, he heard another voice scream in pain. Slowly, he opened his eyes and they went wide in shock and horror. Conor, one of the twins had used himself as a self defence so he could survive. Rey quickly squatted low beside the wolf who had just saved him and let out a painful roar. Grief consumed his body and he could feel his soul getting dark; without fighting the dark side,

Rey allowed it to take control over his entire system. It was like a new dark energy was released into his body, he felt rejuvenated and a new surge of strength. Even though his father’s voice kept screaming in his head to fight the transformation and come back to the light, telling him to ignore the dark side and not to shut his humanity. but it only helps fuel the darkness over him, as pain from his father’s death flashes across his whole body and everything seems to freeze.

Standing up from his squatting position, he raised his head up and faced Eden. The latter also stood without fear as he began to shape shift. Finally the former Eden was no longer Infront of him, but the figure Infront of him is no other person than the second stone himself, Penius. Beside him stood the healer, Haggai; Cain and beta Adrian.

Together with some dark army that started arising from the underground While they surrounded Rey, and the two men that remained. “I will surely enjoy feeding your body to the bird,” penius uttered in a deep gruttal voice.

He raised the amulet up for Rey to see, and he could see his eyes are darker every second and black veins spread across his whole body which made him tremble, even though he tried to hide it.

“Release the amulet, perhaps; I might consider leaving you alive before I lose my patience.” Rey bellowed, more in a warning tone.

“You can’t come to my abode and still threaten me.” Penius replied. Even though he was trying to act boldly, fear was still visible in his voice and face. “I haven’t had a tough fight in what seems like forever. So, you mind duelling with me? “

“As you wished.” Rey utters this with determination. He let the darkness completely control his soul, and he could feel his brain controlling nature and elements. The power of the darkness settled deep inside him; and he felt it ready to be unleashed and wreak havoc. “Attack, and spare no one.” He commands in a dangerous tone.
