Until death – chapter 13

Until death

Chapter 13

Theme: Welcome to the Afterlife, part 2 [The Toture].

“Welcome to the Afterlife, Rey Reed Smith.” I heard the female voice once again.

Deliberately, I began to open my eyes. At first, it was blurred. Everybody in the room is looking like a double luminary in my eyes. My head is banging badly. Not only that, I discovered that I was dangling upside beneath. My leg was attached to the awning while my head was shaking around. Before I could discern what was going on, I felt two heavy punches land on my abdomen, which prompted me to vomit blood. My eyes snapped open instantly and my vision became clear. There is a young blonde lady in front of me. She was wearing a black crust with red leggings, which made her look like the pliers she was holding. Nope, let me call her Airtel sim. Behind her stood three other well-built and hefty beings. They were cladded in long trousers and costume suits, which made them look like they were going for a court marriage, or perhaps, a ball dance. They had a steady expression on their faces, but I knew better than that. I knew there was something hazardous behind their gentle expression.

“Where am I?” I inquired from the girl. “Or you abducted me here to ravish me. I said with a wink.”

The girl moved closer to me, her face holding a grimace that I suspected to be evil. Before I could comprehend what she was going to do, she hit me with the plier on the manhood and a bitter hoot escape out of my rims.

“Mind your dialogues, young lad.” She warned in Stern’s voice. “You being the offspring of the Smith doesn’t scare me.”

In the midst of my agony, I yelled at her, “f**k you b***h. What the hell did you mean by I am the offspring of Smith? To hell with you all.” I can still feel the pain in my d**k. “Rot in hell, as***ole,” I screamed louder again, making sure that my voice was entangled with venom.

She placed her hand on her waist, shook her head, and let out a small scoff. With the look on her face, I can guess that she seems hurt by my words, which boosts my gut and urges me to tease her further. Thank goodness, she is a short girl.

“I wonder if you don’t check the mirror with your current stance,” I said with a sly smile, trying my best to conceal the discomfort I was still feeling in between my thighs. “Come closer, love. Let me tell you a secret.” I whispered again, followed by a wink. “You look like a mug, I mean coffee cup.”

I watch in the spectacle as the look on her face changes to that of resentment. Without being told, I know I have just disturbed the sleeping cobra. With the speed of glint, faster than the eyes could see, she dashed away from my sight and returned with a dagger. Before I could utter a word, she thrust the dagger into my side, and I yelled out in pain. I can sense the dagger burning my skin, followed by a shrinking voice. It was as if my body was frying, or I had just been thrown into hot palm oil. It makes me recollect the time my mom used to fry plantains at home and how the vegetable oil always sounded. It was the exact thing I was feeling.

Using my eyes to scrutinize my atmosphere, I realized that I was in a cabin painted in brown and white. I was tied with a chain that seemed to be made from hell, with a huge padlock at its other end. There are different projectiles in the room, ranging from butchering knives, spears, rapiers, and sabers of different sizes. Not only that, there was an electric wire at the edge of the room. Besides the wire was an iron, which was plugged into an extension. The iron was emitting smoke badly, which makes me wonder how long it has been on fire. A bonfire is also in the middle of the room, with metals of different kinds placed inside. I mumbled, “Fools,” inaudibly.

“What did you just utter?” The lady inquired.

I spat in her face. “I said you are all fools,” I repeated my words.

Before I could blink, she punched me in the face, removing two of my teeth in the process.

“I swear to the Almighty God, and in my mother’s life, you will pay for that.” I spat out angrily, blood oozing out of my mouth. I can feel tears threatening to come out of my eyes, but I blink them back, assuring myself that I have been through the worst. I kept telling myself that the arena has shown me more hell than this. It was all thanks to the hard military training I had been through. I still remember how I always abused and scolded my mom for going through tough military training at a young age, but now I am thanking her. It was like she had foreseen everything beforehand.

However, I was distracted from my thoughts when the girl said the unexpected. “Did you mean your foster parent?”

I let my gaze rest on her, making sure to lock eyes with her. Perhaps she might have denied what she just said. “I guess you are drunk.” I scoffed.

She scrutinized me from head to toe, and if looks could ki*ll, I’m sure I’d be ten feet underground. She moved closer to me again and started raining punctures on me. It was like she was hitting me with a sledgehammer. At first, I thought of concealing the pain so I wouldn’t look like a weak being to her.

When she realized that I wasn’t going to yell in pain as she expected, she went to the electric iron, unplugged it, and the cat walked towards my position.

My eyes widened in horror and fear at the same time when I realized what she was trying to do. Despite the fact that I tried to hide my fears and appeared to be brave, I could see that she had already felt them, as she let out a dangerous scoff.

“Are you trying to iron their clothes?” I said to her, my gaze resting on the three men who had stood still like statues since morning. “Or, you are trying to iron me out.”

“What does it look like to you?” She retorted. “You know, General Zod used to tell me something about the Smiths. Did you mind if I told you?” She asked while the toxic smirk wasn’t leaving her face.

I knew instantly that I must do something, or else this she-devil wouldn’t hesitate to ki*ll me. But something is still baffling me. I should have lost consciousness of my environment ever since she has been torturing me for no reason since this morning. I know my nature very well. I know it doesn’t take much stress like this to knock me out. However, this is different. The same goes for all the wounds in my body; the pain always vanished after a few minutes of feeling them, even though the mark left by the wound was still visible. The same goes for my teeth, I check them, using my tongue, only to see that it is now growing back. That raised a lot of questions in my mind. What is happening to me?

“Go and tell General Zod that Rey Reed Smith has come out of a stupor,” she devil’s voice broke into my thoughts. Without hesitancy, one of the men hurriedly went out of the room.

“Shall we begin, Rey Reed Smith?” She inquired, her gaze now resting on me. Nonetheless, I still appeared to be brave.

“You are saying something concerning General Zod,” I said, trying to strike up a conversation. Perhaps the iron might grow a little cold. “What is he saying about us?” I asked, trying to follow the conversation and act as if I knew something about the so-called Smith. When I am fully certain that my brain is blank, in fact, I haven’t heard anything like that before.

“Oh, you mean that?” She mumbled, more with a travesty tone. “Aside from the part that the Smith generation was immortal, they don’t talk much, and they don’t fear any beings,”

“So, what does that have to do with me?”

“You are a scared cat,” she answered. “You aren’t showing the full potential of the Smiths, nor are you making them proud.”

“Isn’t that supposed to give you evidence?” I said, “Trying to make her reconsider all her actions.”

“That what?” She said, widening her eyes as if she was expecting tangible information from me.

“You’ve got the wrong person,” I wailed at her. “You’ve f****ng got the wrong being. I know nothing about the Smith; I’m just a young boy who has been thrust into this f****ng realm. I am a survivor, a fighter, trained by my military mom. I was kidnapped by my step-daddy, forced to fight in an arena, and was slaughtered by a one-eyed woman with a snake on her head. ”

“I love you, for one thing, Rey Reed Smith.” She said, followed by a small chuckle. “The Smith is undoubtedly a pretender. You are also a good actor, but I am better than you.”

“You and your Smith can go to hell.”I spat angrily.

“Come on, boy, wake up.” She retorted back, and her expression also turned significant. “How did you expect us to believe you? We found you on the jungle riverside. Our seer told us that your name is Rey Reed Smith.” Apart from that, you have the same scent as they do. Moreover, we have been looking for their kids that escaped 20 years ago, and I am sure you are at that age. Come on, boy, wake up. This isn’t a joke.”

I sigh in frustration. I can’t just understand everything she has been saying since the morning. It is like she was speaking gibberish.

“Now, let’s make this easy for us.” She said while taking another dangerous step towards me. “Where is the Nectar?”

“Go and ask your papa!” I spat. “I f****ng told you that I wasn’t your victim. Nor did I know any of the beings you are talking about.” I was still speaking when she forcefully withdrew the dagger she used to stab me earlier. Before I can interpret what is going on, she presses the iron on my wounds. I felt my body going hot, and the pain surged through my body. I scream out in agony, and I am sure that my voice is heard all over the vicinity. I let a tear fall from my eyes that I had been trying to keep back. It was like my body was on fire.

“That is enough, Esther.” A frigid voice broke into the room.

Slowly, the girl removed the iron from my wounded side, and the wound made a shrieking sound as if it were frying like buns. With all my strength, I raised my head up, using my eyes to investigate the wound, and what I saw amazed me. The wound is healing on its own, even though it was slow. But it was closing, as was the pain I was experiencing, which is now gradually dissipating.

“Has he cooperated with us?” The new man, who I guessed to be General Zod, said He is a tall and well-built man. He was wearing light blue trousers with a singlet that revealed all of his six-packs. He had a huge muscle on his arm. The same goes for his neck. All his veins were showing, and one could guess that he never joked while working out.

“Not yet, General,” Esther replied back. “He is claiming that he did not know anything about Smith, and I am sure he is lying. He even denied his generation, saying he knew nothing about them.”

The man let out a small giggle, which revealed his dimples. He had a moustache and dark eyes that seemed to be staring into my soul. His expressions were unreadable, making it hard for me to know whether he believed me or not. Nevertheless, I knew that this man wouldn’t take it easy on me. So, I prepared myself for the next round of suffering. Even though it will heal involuntarily, I will still feel the pain nonetheless.

Is it true, Rey Reed Smith? The man asked with a thick British accent. “Where is the Nectar?” He inquired, with his brows furrowed.

Nevertheless, I remain mute, knowing fully well that they wouldn’t believe any of my words.

After several minutes of silence, the general, seeing that I wasn’t going to talk, started taking tough steps towards me. Immediately, I knew I had to play along to avoid another round of torture.

“And why should I tell you?” I inquired, trying my best to sound sharp. “Or, do you expect me to talk to you when you are still hanging me upside down?” I spat in his face.

He stopped on his track, placed his hand on his jaw as if considering my words.

“Or, shall we strike a deal?” I said further, hoping to convince him. I have just one prayer in mind: that the man should never suspect anything foul. I had already surveyed my environment, and I knew what to do. I have already calculated how to take out the three men, and I am sure that the girl, Esther, wouldn’t be a problem for me. Perhaps I will have a chance against the general himself.

“What is your deal?” He finally replied after what seemed like forever.

“Release me, and I will take you to the Nectar,” I said sharply, hoping with my heart that I sounded bold enough to convince him.

“But you just said you knew nothing about the Smith or the Nectar a few minutes ago,” Esther replied instead.

I look at her and send her a deadly glance. “Shut up, b***h. I ain’t talking to you.” I shunned her. “Besides, this is elderly talk, so a slut like you has no right to interfere,” I said, and her expression darkened instantly.

“Ain’t you one?” I continued, hoping to infuriate her. At least, if I can’t fight back because of my current position, I should be able to get my revenge by insulting her. “Check your outfit. You look like that chick I always f**k with chicken change.”

The general and the other three men let out a small laugh, but they were quick to conceal it. Esther examined herself from head to toe, and I can guess that she thought her dress was great.

“Don’t get me wrong, my buttercup.” With a wink, I said while blowing her kiss. “You sure look badass. Oh, sorry, I mean you are looking like the pliers you were holding earlier.” I finally blundered out what I have been thinking about since.

The room was suddenly filled with laughter from both the general and the other three men, while the girl’s eyes turned bloodshot. She clenched her fist in fury and gritted her teeth angrily. Within the speed of light, much faster than I could have imagined. She appeared in front of me. Before I could guess what she was about to do, she hit me in the veins around my neck, and the last thing I heard her say before I blacked out was, “Don’t forget, you are in the Afterlife, not your realm.”

To be continue next week
