The man pinned my hair up and sprayed hair spray all over it. I coughed and waved my hand around.

“Close your mouth” my mother laughed.

When he was done he looked in the mirror and smiled. “It’s beautiful!” He snapped his fingers. I stood and looked in the mirror it is beautiful, and this dress is beautiful.

I took a deep breath and started to feel nervous so looked around the room for something to snack on. My eyes landed on chocolate covered strawberries. I waited for Rosana and Lily to be occupied with something then I quickly and conspicuously headed over and put it in my mouth.

“Hey!” Jess yelled. I turned around slowly. “Drop the strawberry and nobody gets hurt”

“Where did you get strawberries from?” Rosana whined. “I want some”

I shook my head took another bite. “I’m hungry!”

“Valentina” Jess laughed. “You’re going to get it all over your dress”

“I’m not I promise”

“You are” she took them from me.

“I’m hungry” I pouted.

“You have to go out in five minutes, Lily and Rosanna go wait by the door”

They grabbed their flowers and left quickly.

“I can’t wait for us to become family” she smiled. I noticed the little wrinkles around her eyes.

“I’ll be out here when your ready. You have five minutes” she said again. “And if you’re not out here in five minutes-” she held out five fingers, again indicating the time. “I’ll will drag your little butt out here myself” she winked and left the room.

I smiled and looked toward the mirror. “You look amazing, baby”

I looked at my mom. “I can’t believe that almost a year ago it was just us. I’m so happy that your happy”

“Thank you”

“I wish that I hadn’t been such a bad mother, I should’ve protected you more, supported you more”

“That’s all in the past”

“You’re right and I promise to be by your side the rest of the way”

“I love you” I said quickly before she changes her mind about everything she has said. I felt my face get hot and my eyes started to tear.

“I love you too, baby” she kissed my cheek and hugged me tight.

I sobbed and felt myself started to shake. “Mama I’m so scared”

“I know sweetheart” she rubbed my back. “But if you love this man then you’ll know that it’s meant to be”

“What if I don’t know? What if I thought I knew but I don’t know?”

“You know, Valentina and its never too late to back out” she held my hand.

“Alright Valentina” Jess said walking in the room. “Let’s go”

“No wait” I stalled.

“What’s wrong?” She asks quickly. “Your face! Don’t cry yet, your not married” she grabbed a tissue and dabbed my face with it.

“Okay, come on” she grabbed my hand and held it tight.

I saw Jasper standing by the door waiting for me. “You look absolutely beautiful”

“Thank you” I smiled.

We linked arms and stood there looking at the white doors.

The music started playing and I closed my eyes. “I’m scared” I said loudly. “I don’t want to do this” I shook my leg vigorously.

“Now why are you so scared?” Jasper asked me quietly. His deep voice comforted me and kept me calm.

“I don’t know, I’m just freaking out”

“Look at me” I looked over at him. “We will be family in about 3 minutes, there’s nothing to worry about” I bit my lip and nodded. “Now take a deep breath and stop shaking your leg”

I stopped shaking and closed my eyes. Taking one big deep breath.

Then I felt my breath being pulled away from me. I opened my eyes and the door was open. Exposing me to all the people, looking at me, smiling.

Jasper started walking and he pulled me with him. “Oh” I sighed as we walked slowly together. I looked around the grand church. Lots of unfamiliar faces with smiles greeted me.

I looked straight ahead and I saw Joshua. A smile slowly crept across my face as I approached him. He had a serious face put on but I could tell that by the closer I got, he was smiling more.

I finally reached him and walked up the steps toward him. He shook his fathers hand and then held mine. Looking straight into my eyes.

He looks so damn good in his tuxedo. But I want to see him with it off.

“Thank you all for joining us” the pastor said to the crowd, they sat down and listened to what he said.

The pastor started talking but I couldn’t listen my ears wouldn’t work, I kept getting distracted by the littlest things. I looked down and saw John, he was smiling for once. Then I looked out into the crowd and saw people I’ve never seen before, then I looked at Joshua, my husband to be. In like 30 seconds.

Joshua’s mouth started moving like he was talking then he slid my engagement ring off, putting on another one. “I Joshua, give you Valentina, this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you”

I smiled and felt my eyes begin to water.

Then it was mine turn. I quickly said my vows and slid the ring on his finger.

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride”

Joshua and I joined in a kiss and the crowd clapped and cheered. I smiled and kissed him again.

“I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell”

I hugged Joshua tight. “I can’t wait to take you home, Mrs. Maxwell”

I looked and him and laughed.

I’m married to him, the man I love. Joshua and Valentina Maxwell. I love it.

“I can’t wait to get you out of this dress” Joshua’s deep voice vibrated my ear.

“I can’t wait either” I chuckled.

We danced slowly, looking into each others eyes as the music carried our bodies. “I have somewhere to take you when this is over”

I raised my eyebrows and paid attention. “There’s a beautiful beach house I own, a little while out of the city. I know you don’t want to go far but-”

“I want to go, I know I’ll love it” I smiled. I don’t like sand but I’ll put up with it.

The music stopped and the crowd clapped. Joshua held my hand as we headed to our seats.

It’s very late and I’m so tired but I’ve had fun all day. I’ve met a lot of Joshua’s friends and business partners and the rest of his ginormous family.

John broke off and wandered around talking to people. He really seemed to be enjoying himself. And my mom stood with her boyfriend the entire time.

I yawned ferociously and Joshua peered at me. “You tired?”

“Very” I leaned on his shoulder. He checked his watch. “It’s 11:30pm”

“What time is this party over?”

“My parents will rap it up. I’ll be back” he kissed me before he left.

I smiled to myself, thinking about how lucky I am. I’m so happy to be apart of Joshua and his family.

He spoke to his mother and she kissed his cheek, nodding as she walked to the stage grabbing the microphone. “Thank you all so much for coming to Joshua and Valentina’s wedding-”

“Come on” Joshua took my attention. I grabbed his hand and he led me out of the ballroom where the party was.

He pushed me into the dressing room where all my things were and closed the door behind him. “Hurry up and change, there’s clothes in that bag”

I looked at a black book bag on the couch and walked over too it. It had jeans, a sweater and sneaker. My kind of clothes.

“Unzip me” I said.

Joshua walked over and stood behind me. Sliding his hand up my arms and to the back of the dress slowly running the zipper down.

“Now look away”

He scoffed and stood there still looking at me. “Look away!” I turned him around. I slid off my dress and changed into the clothes that were in the book bag.

Then Joshua got changed into some comfortable clothes as well. A pair of jeans and a black shirt, with sneakers also. I swear he tries so hard to match with me.

“Where are we going again?” I looked in the mirror and started to take off all the jewelry and makeup that was plastered on my face.

“To the beach house” he crossed his arms and looked at me.

“Why are we going in secret?” I grabbed a makeup cloth and scrubbed my face.

“Because if we don’t everyone will want to talk to us”

“Shouldn’t we say goodbye, or at least thank you?” I asked grabbed another cloth.

“My mothers taking care of all that, plus we’ll send out cards”

“She’s so sweet” I finally got all the makeup off and pulled the clip out of my hair. It bounced down, slapping me in the face.

I turned to look at him. “I’m sleepy”

He leaned down and kissed my lips. “No sleep just yet”

He grabbed my hand and peaked outside the door before we walked out.

Pulling me with him outside and into a black Mercedes. Joshua just has to have his fancy cars everywhere he goes.

He opened the door for me and I got in. As did he, then he quickly sped off down the road.

I listened to the soothing hum of the car and rested my head on the window. “Don’t sleep” he said squeezing my thigh.

I lifted my head up. “How long’s it going to be?” I asked sleepily.

“Shouldn’t be too long”

“I can’t stay awake for much longer” I felt my eyes start to close.

“Then lets talk”

“About what?” I watched as he put his turning signal on and sped up.

“Well Mrs. Maxwell, did you enjoy the wedding?”

I smiled and looked over at him. “I loved every bit of it”

“Did you?” He smirked.

“Yes, my favorite part was when the couple finally said ‘I do’ and kissed at the end”

“Ah how about the food?”

“Food was delicious, all my favorites. Especially the chicken”

“Did you have any cake?”

“I did funny thing though, the groom mistook me for the bride and shoved cake in my face”

He laughed. “Aw I’m sorry that happened”

“Yea he will be too” i said in my best sexy voice.

“Will he really?” He moved his hand up my thigh.

“I don’t go down without a fight, babe”

“I’m so glad you told me that” he growled. “We are almost there” He shook my leg.

“Okay” I closed my eyes and rested my head.

“Don’t fall asleep” he said again.

“I’m not” I chuckled. But as soon as I closed my eyes I fell asleep.

She fell asleep. After I specifically told her not too. I opened the passenger door and picked her up. Walking into the beach house and through the kitchen to the bedroom, I placed her on the bed.

I stood there watching her for a while. Valentina is my wife now. It’s weird. I never thought I’d be serious in a relationship, let alone get married. But Valentina is so different from anyone I’ve ever met.

I opened the patio doors that connected to the bedroom and it showed the private beach.

I’m not tired, I usually go to bed fairly early but Valentina’s just always on my mind. I can’t wait to continue my life with her.

I lean against the wall and look at the moon.

“Joshua?”

I turn around and Valentina’s sitting up rubbing her eyes. “Yea babe?”

“I didn’t mean to fall asleep” she yawned and walked over to me. She rubbed her face on my shirt. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing” I pulled her close to me and she rested her head on my chest.

“I don’t like sand” she touched it with her foot.

“I know” I chuckled.

“Are you sleepy?” She turned around in my arms and looked up at me.

“No” I smiled at her.

“Mm” she moaned. “Come to bed”

“It’s not late” I said.

She grabbed my arm and looked at my watch. “It’s almost four in the morning, come on” she walked toward the bed pulling me with her.

We haven’t been married a day and she’s already telling me what to do. That’s alright though, I love her so much I don’t even care, I’ll listen to her for the rest of my life.

We got in the bed and she moved close to me. I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes.

This woman is all I need. She’s the most important thing.
