Chapter 16

Alma.

“Well, good for him.” I said with a smile on my face. The money in my account gave me a lot of confidence.

Unlike other times when I feel weak before wealthy people, I didn’t feel intimidated standing before Stanley and his manager at all.

“Hum! Well, now that you are free, would you accept our contract?” Daisy asked.

“Erm…not ready for that now, contract is binding and I do not think I’m ready to go into one.” I said.

“Is that a joke?” Stanley voiced out.

I looked at his face and saw a look of surprise on her face.

“After Clifford dismissed you, did he bother to pay you? of course not, the contract is barely five days old. You stand a chance of becoming very wealthy in my band.” Stanley said.

“But…you have a dancer ,isn’t it? I think that I can be substituted anytime.” I said gently.

“Seems you didn’t need money.” Stanley said.

“How much are we talking about here?”I asked.

” We can’t disclose the amount we would pay but it’s all in the contract, you can read the terms of the contract yourself and…get back to us” Daisy said and stretched a document to me.

I hesitated before receiving it, It won’t be bad if I carefully review their terms of the contract this time.

“I’ll come when it is closing time to know your decision.” Jennifer said.

“Sure.” I answered assuringly and she turned away with Stanley. They both walked away.

I sauntered my way to the assembly ground.

Few hours later, we had just finished receiving the second lecture and it looks like the third lecturer would not be coming so I decided to read the terms of the contract carefully.

I read that I must live in Stanley’s house for the next two years….

What! two years? Oh! thank goodness I didn’t sign it.

I would have signed it and be forced to live somewhere for two years.

I angrily closed the document that Jennifer noticed and turned to me.

“What is it?” She asked.

I explained it all to her and she frowned at the terms of the contract also.

“That’s unfair, they need your dancing skills, why do you have to live somewhere for two years? …but how much was to be paid?” She asked.

“$1,milliom for the two years.” I answered.

She almost screamed but quickly covered her mouth.

“Are you serious? one million?” She asked.

“Yes, but it will be paid after the two years.” I further said.

“No…no no! That didn’t look legit, anything could have happened in two years, why can’t they pay before the two years?” She asked.

“I guess it’s how the band operates but I’m not interested.” I answered.

“Well, Clifford gave you money already…but, what if you exhaust the money?” She asked.

“I would think of what I can use it to do that would multiply the money, when I get home, I’ll discuss it with my parents.” I answered.

  1. Hmm i love this story die. I want clifford to suffer for what he has done. He should pay double amount when he ask alma to sign another contract. Then he would know that even the rich needs the poor to help them dominate…
