Chapter 12

Alma.

I opened the door obediently and stepped down from the car.

I walked to the road side and watched as Clifford’s car drove away.

His hatred for poor people is really huge, how did he expect me to get to school when I do not even have any cash with me.

A white jeep parked beside me, the glass was tinted, it was impossible for me to see who was inside the car.

The glass wind down slowly and a lady’s face came into view. I recognized her to be the lady that came to my school with Stanley.

“Good morning.” I greeted politely.

“I’m sorry you are stranded, should we transport you to your school?” She asked.

When she used the word ‘we’, I knew someone else was with her in the car apart from the driver.

“Yes please.” I answered and the door opened.

I walked inside the car, I was now sitting beside Stanley. He looked glamorous and elegant.

His hairs were black and he had a whole spectacle on his eyes.

As the car moved, he asked; “How did you end up on the roadside?”

“I got into an issue with Clifford and his brothers.” I answered briefly.

“What issues?” He asked without looking at my face.

“Nothing big.” I tried to keep it away from him. I do not want him to know that I regret not seeing his contract first cause I will definitely have signed it.

“But, how did you know I was there?” I asked.

“We were only driving and Daisy saw you standing.” He answered.

“Oh!” I exclaimed and sighed.

There were silence for brief moment after which Stanley spoke ; “Are you aware that a contract can be terminated and…I can help.”

“Really? by taking the case to court right?” I questioned.

“It’s the only way out but if you allow us, we will foot all the bill as pertain to the case.” Stanley said.

“Really?…but why is your band really interested in me? you could easily organize a context and get as many dancers as you wished, why me in particular?”

“We can find dancers but we can not find someone that can dance exactly as you. We need your unique skills.” He said and finally set his gaze on me.

His eyes trailed down to my belly and then, he took it away.

“Alright…” I stressed. “I need to focus on my education ,the court case will really let me off the hook.”

“You think you will lose concentration on your studies just because we sue Clifford to court?” He asked.

“It’s what I think plus I do not want to have issues with any of the band. Clifford’s band might start seeing me as someone evil just because I sued them to court.” I explained.

“Your thinking is very immature.” It was the only thing he said until we arrived at school.

I thanked him and Daisy and stepped down.

As I walk to my class, I thought if I was really immature or not?
