Episode Fourty Two

💭 THURSDAY💭

❣️ ALEXA❣️

I woke up feeling grumpy today.
I had slept late last night because we left the court in the evening, and the guys insisted on taking us out for dinner at a fancy restaurant.
I tried to decline their offer but they keep persisting, so I had to go with them.

My uncle and aunt had already gone home because Landon promised them he’d bring me home when we are through with our dinner.

I must admit I really enjoyed the dinner because it made me remember the good old days when my family will eat out at five star hotels or big eateries.
Those moments feel like an eternity ago.
I didn’t realise how much I’ve missed eating out until the guys treated me to a nice dinner yesterday.

“Hey, girls” I greeted as I sat down at their table.
I promised them I’d eat my lunch at their table today so I can gist them about what happened in court yesterday.

“Hi” they all replied.

“How are you doing?” Sarah asked.

“I’m fine, you?”

“I’m also fine. I heard Ms. Kilpatrick was sentenced to fifty one years in prison” Sarah said.

“Yeah. How did you know that?” I asked.

“It was in the local papers today” Sarah said.

“Oh! I didn’t know it was going to be published in the papers”

“That’s how things work over here. Hope you are not stressed out from being questioned in court?” Sarah asked.

“I am, but I’m glad tomorrow is Friday. I have the weekend to regain my strength”

“Yeah. I wish I was able to come to the court yesterday” Kayla said.

“I promised you that I’d tell you everything that happened in court, and I’m not going back on my words” I said.

I narrated all that happened yesterday to the girls.
They were surprised to know that my family has history with Ms. Kilpatrick.

💞 LIZZY💞

I could not concentrate in class between my mind was preoccupied with other things.
I might go insane if I don’t find answers to the questions on my mind.

I ran into Hunter this morning, and I felt these strange sparks when he held me from falling when we collided.
Why would I feel anything for someone I’ve known for just four days?

My inability to get answers is driving me insane.
I still dreamed about Dana yesterday night.
I was shown a restaurant which is similar to the one where I dined yesterday night.
In the restaurant, Hunter and Dana were sitting in front of each other and they were talking softly.
They finished eating and they went to a little cottage where they both slept.

I don’t know what to make of the dream because it’s none of my concern what they did with their lives.
I just don’t understand why I am being shown part of their lives.

“Mom, have we come here before?” I asked my mom while we were having dinner at my step uncle’s house.
I just couldn’t hold myself back from asking.

“No. Why would you think that we’ve been here before?” Mom asked back.

“I don’t know, mom. All I know is that I am always having dreams about a girl from this place even before we came here.
I recognise a lot of places from my dreams when we got here.
I’m having dreams about a girl who is dead.
I think I’m running mad” Everyone gasped and my step uncle’s wife looked at me with sympathy.

I don’t want to be pitied by anyone.
I just want answers.

“Who are you dreaming about?” my step uncle asked me.

“I’m dreaming about Dana” I announced.

The blood drained from my mom’s face and my step uncle and his wife went pale as well.
The only person who was not shocked by what I said is Landon, and that is because I already told him about it.

“Mom, do you know who she is?” I asked already getting frustrated.

“Ye… I mean no” she said and she fled the dining room.

OMG!
What is this?
Why do I have a feeling that mom knows something, but she doesn’t want to talk.

“Can anyone explain what is happening to me?”

“Calm down, Elizabeth” Landon’s mom said.

“How can I calm down when I don’t understand what is going on” I cried out.

“Don’t get upset, Lizzy. We don’t know why you are dreaming about Dana.
You see, when you mentioned her name I was very shocked because I have no idea about how you got to know about her death.
Dana is a family friend. She grew up with my son and his friends.
She has always been a close friend to Landon and everyone was very sad when she died in the plane crash.
You opened an old wound when you mentioned her name” my step uncle said.

“I need to go and check on my mom” I said as I also left the dining room.

💓 HUNTER💓

I shivered as I jumped out of my bed.
Oh no!
What have I done?
Thank goodness I haven’t committed incest yet.

I threw open my wardrobe and I unlocked the drawer underneath my wardrobe.
I haven’t opened this particular drawer for almost three years.

I rummaged through the wardrobe and I threw everything in it out.
God, let it be here.

I sighed as I saw the big envelope.
I opened it and poured the content on my bed.

I cried as I saw our old photos.
There are several snapshots of us in different locations.
The photos were bringing a lot of memory to me.
It’s high time I moved on.
I have to admit that she isn’t coming back again.
I feel so bad for mistaking my cousin for her.
I wonder if she would ever forgive me for that.
I would have continued to think she is Dana if I had not had this revelation this night.

I had dreamt of Dana as she was waving at me.
It was the last day I saw her because she never came back from her journey.
She died in a plane crash.

I dreamt of Alexa as well.
I remember the day she came to live with us after she lost her parents.
I remember she didn’t talk to anyone until the rumours started.

I found myself in front of Alexa’s room not minding the fact that it’s late already.

I knocked on the door for some minutes before she finally opened the door.

“What are you doing here by this time?” Alexa asked.

She was in her pyjamas and she was frowning at me because I obviously cut short her sleep.

“I’m sorry for coming by this time, but I can’t wait to get this off my mind” I said.

“What do you mean?” Alexa asked.

“It’s quite a long story. Can I come in?” I asked her.

She seemed to think about it for a while before she allow me to step in.

“Thanks” I said as I sat down on her chair.

“Why are you here?” She asked again.

“I just want to apologise for mistaking you for my girlfriend. I hope you would be able to forgive me”

“What? Have you regained your memory?” she asked excitedly.

“Yes. I remember everything now” I said as she hugged me.
I was surprised but I hugged her back.

“You don’t know how happy I am right now” she said.

We talked for some minutes before I left her room.

❣️ ALEXA❣️

I was awaken from my slumber by someone who is knocking on my door.
I wonder who it is.
I grudgingly stood up to open the door.

I was surprised to see Hunter and I frowned at him.
What did he want from me that can’t wait till morning?

He asked to come in and I reluctantly opened the door for him.

I was very happy to discover that he has finally gotten back his memory and I couldn’t sleep again after he left my room.
I was just too happy.

Finally, I can love who my heart chose without worrying about hurting my cousin’s feelings.

💕 JANE💕

I ran out of the dining room and I entered the garden.

I don’t know how to break the news to Lizzy.
How will she feel towards me?
Will she hate me or not?
These were the questions running through my mind, but I have no answers for it.

“Mom, you know something, don’t you?” Lizzy accused me immediately she saw me in the garden.

“I’m sorry, Elizabeth. I didn’t mean to keep it away from you” I said.

“Just tell me all I need to know” she pleaded.

There is no point in keeping it from her anymore.

“Okay, sit down. I’d tell you”

She sat down under a tree and I began to tell her everything.

“I lost my husband ten years after my marriage and unfortunately we didn’t have any kids before his death.
His death was really painful to me because he was all I had.

I always visit his graveyard at the cemetery almost everyday and I sometimes visit the river where we had met.
It was while I went to this river that I met you.
I was lost in thought and I didn’t notice it was about to rain.
I felt something make a splash sound on the surface of the water and I was startled.
I looked up in time to see someone who would have drowned.

I jumped into the river because I’m a great swimmer.
I rescued you and I took you to the nearest hospital that night.

You were badly injured, but I didn’t know the cause of your injury until the following morning when I read about the plane crash in the newspaper.

Meanwhile at the hospital, the doctors said you have to undergo a complete plastic surgery and they assumed that I am your mother, and I had to play along so they can commence your treatment as soon as possible because they might have left you to die if they are still looking for your biological parents to authorise your surgery.

You were in coma for six months, and I already completed the adoption process because that was the best thing to do as I don’t want you to relapse when you hear about your parents death when you wake up from coma.

That was why I didn’t tell you anything about the plane crash until now.
I hope you can forgive me for keeping this from you all these while” I said.
I suddenly feel free after saying the truth to Lizzy.
It seems I was in bondage before and I just got released.

“Oh mom! Thanks for everything.
You are the best mom a child can ever ask for.
I don’t care if you were not the one who gave birth to me” Lizzy said.

“You aren’t mad at me anymore?” I asked in surprise.

“I’m not mad at you. I just feel happy to know about myself.

Now I understand why I always dream about Dana and why I felt a spark when Hunter touched me.
Everything now makes sense to me” Lizzy said.

I have no idea who Hunter is but I’m not going to ask her about it.
I know she’d tell me about it at the right time.

I feel so lucky to have a daughter who is not only an embodiment of beauty, but also possess a beautiful heart as well.
