“Come down Joshua! We are having dinner!” I heard Mrs. Maxwell yell from downstairs. “Stop keeping your girlfriend all cooped up in her room” I walked down the steps as Joshua followed me. “Let’s eat dinner before you leave” she grabbed my hand and walked me over to the dinner table.

I sat down next to Mr. Maxwell and he rubbed my hand. “I am so glad to see you making Joshua happy”

He is such a cute old man. With a few wrinkles in his face when he smiles. He’s beautiful, he’s so kind to me I want to cry.

“Thank you Mr. Maxwell, for opening up your home to me and for being so kind”

“What ours is yours” he gently let my hand go and turned his attention to his wife and Joshua.

“I’m sorry that we couldn’t properly introduce you to the rest of the family. I wish you guys would stay longer” Mrs. Maxwell said.

“I know mother” Joshua smiled.

“I appreciate you for welcoming me into your home, Mrs. Maxwell. Those of whom I did meet were very kind to me”

“I’m glad your well acquainted with ours” she smiled. I like the way she speaks. There’s something very delicate about it. “Let’s have a toast”

She raised her wine glass and we all followed. “To our dear Joshua and Valentina” she smiled.

“Hear hear” Mr. Maxwell said.

“What are you going here?” I pulled her behind the bushes so no one would see.

“I came to visit you” she smirked. In a saddened attempt to flatter me.

“We can’t do this anymore didn’t you go through the papers?”

“Joshua I don’t want that. I want you baby” she grabbed my arm.

“It’s non negotiable” I pulled away.

“Joshua”
“If you don’t get away from my house I will file a restraining order against you!” I snapped and began to walk away.

“Joshua I will tell her!” She yelled.

“Be quiet!” I grabbed her arm.

“You’re supposed to be with me. You weren’t supposed to cheat on me!”

“I never cheated on you. I never wanted to be with you”

“Then why did you stay around for so long?!”

I don’t want to tell her the truth. It’ll hurt her feelings and make me seem like a bad guy. “I was bored, Leticia” She looked like she was about to cry. “Get away from my house and stay away from Valentina” I warned before walking away.

“Hey” Valentina said as I walked in the house. “What were you doing outside?

“I thought I saw someone in the yard”

She walked over to the stove and poured herself a cup of tea. “Did you find anything?”

“No, I’ll check in the morning it’s dark” I sat down at the table.

She sat down and rubbed her head. “I want some ice cream” she said.

“Look in the freezer I might have some”

She got up and walked to the fridge opened the freezer. “Aww” she turned around. “We don’t have any” she poked her lip out and walked back to the table.

“We’ll get some tomorrow” I said and grabbed her cup of tea.

“I want some no”

I shook my head as I gulped it down. “It’ll keep you up”

She walked over to me and grabbed my hand.

“Please?”

“Valentina-”

“Please, please, please?” Sh whined.

“Fine” I said but only because she’s beings so cute.

I grabbed my keys off the table and grabbed her hand.

“Cookies and cream” she said throwing it into the cart.

“Chocolate” I disagreed and grabbed the chocolate one.

“Cookies and cream” she said more sternly.

“Chocolate” I grabbed her waist and pulled her too me.

She chuckled and pushed herself away. “Stop it, we can get both”

I kissed her head and she started pushing the cart.

“Im gonna go to the bathroom” she says as we walk to the register. We separate and I pay for the ice cream. I have time to put everything in the car before she comes back.

She looks different.

I look at her, studying her face to see how it’s changed. She looks shaken. I know if I ask her she won’t say anything.

She stood in front of me with her head down. I grabbed her hand and pulled her close to me. I kissed her gently before leading her out of the store.

I opened the car door for her and closed it when she got in before around to the other side and getting in myself.

She sighed and looked at me smiling. “I can’t wait to eat my ice cream”

“Me too babe”
