CHAPTER 30

 

“Kabir,we need to talk” Khaleed said calling Kabir back.

 

“Talk?” Kabir said smiling. “Talk or you want to apologize for taking what’s mine?” Kabir said still smiling.

 

“Shut up and just follow me” Khaleed said as he led the way and Kabir followed.

 

He led Kabir to one of the gazibo in the compound and they sat down. “So what do we need to talk about Mr Chairman?” Kabir asked.

 

“I know you found out that Adsh is Ayesha but stay away from her. She’s now my fiancee and if you lay a finger on her i promise i won’t take it likely” Khaleed said.

 

“What?” Kabir said laughing. “I thought you were only a qualified doctor i never knew you started comedy too” He said still laughing.

 

“What’s so funny?” Khaleed asked disgusted.

 

“Why should i stay away from what’s mine? Ayesha,including that child are mine,you should be the one to stay away” Kabir said with a straight face.

 

“Why should i do that?” Khaleed asked.

 

“Because she isn’t__” Kabir was cut short by Khaleed.

 

“Where were you when she needed help? Where were you when she was in comma struggling for her life and that of the baby? Where were you when she was out of comma and needed help?” Khaleed asked. “You were nowhere to be found. You’re not capable of anything. All you’re capable of is duping and impregnating an innocent lady and leaving her to suffer” Khaleed poured out annoyed.

 

“I did that for a reason” Kabir said ashamed.

 

“I don’t care if you did it for a reason,all i know is that you hurt her and it’s forever going to remain in her heart”

 

“And that is none of your business!! I take care of my mistakes not you” Kabir shot back.

 

“You don’t listen do you?” Khaleed sighed.

 

“Anyways,i called you here for another reason”

 

“And what is that?” Kabir asked.

 

“The company. I know you want it badly and you can handle it better than i can,so i decided to step down as the chairman and sign you in as the new chairman” Khaleed said.

 

“You better do” Kabir said eying Khaleed.

 

“But on one condition” Khaleed said.

 

“What again?”

 

“You have to choose. You get the company,i have Adsh. No vice versa,and you have to choose fast or i choose for you”

 

“What are you talking about? So now i have to choose between two things that are mine?” Kabir said laughing and standing up at the same time. He moved nearer to where Khaleed was and bent so his was near Khaleed’s ear. “I don’t choose between what’s mine,i get them. Kabir’s Principle” He whispered into his ear and walked away laughing.

 

“That bas***d” Khaleed muttered,annoyed.

Adsh was in her room checking out her baby bump when Kabir barged in,she spun around and met him sitting on her bed. “What do you want this time?” She asked.

 

“Do you still want to deny the fact that you’re Ayesha?” Kabir asked.

 

“And if i’m Ayesha does it change anything?” She asked. “Does it change all what you did to me?”

 

“Aysh,i know i’ve wronged you a lot,i know i’ve offended you but please i’m sorry. I have realized my mistakes in a very hard way and i’m apologizing to you,please forgive me” Kabir pleaded.

 

“Will your apology bring back all i have lost? My parents? My face?”Adsh asked almost crying.

 

“I’m sorry,Aysh” Kabir said standing up and coming towards her.

 

“Oh do not call me that name and please don’t move nearer to me anymore” Adsh said.

 

“Adsh,please forgive me” He pleaded.

 

“Do you think i will?”

 

“What?” Kabir asked confused.

 

“Get out of my room!!!” Adsh shouted.

 

Kabir was confused and ashamed at the same time,he didn’t move from where he was and was looking at his feet.

 

“Even if you won’t forgive me,can you stop imposing my child on that bas***d” Kabir said.

 

“That bas***d is my child’s father” Adsh replied.

 

“What do you mean?” Kabir asked again.

 

“Kabir please get out of my room,before i puke on you”

 

“Ayesh…i mean Adsh,you can’t just__”

 

“Now!!” Adsh said with a tone of finality.

 

After he left the room,Adsh sat on the floor and broke into tears. Deep down she wanted to forgive him but her ego wouldn’t allow her. He also had to suffer for what he did to her. She cried to her satisfaction before she finally got up from the floor and went to lay on the bed before sleeping off.

~TWO WEEKS AFTER~

Adsh and Dora were always in their room,she prevented herself from talking to Kabir and haven’t seen Khaleed for sometime even though she wanted to apologize for what she said to him the other day. But he was always busy at work. Kabir had tried all his best to talk with Adsh but all his effort was in vain. She didn’t even want to see him.

 

That day she was resting in her room when Khaleed entered,she sat up immediately. She wasn’t expecting to see him so early since he was always at the company or the hospital. He walked towards the bed,took her room chair and sat down facing her. He held out a white folder Adsh didn’t notice when he came in. “That’s Gage’s and Gabriel’s DNA test result” He said.

 

Hearing this,Adsh quickly took the folder from him and started scanning through it. And of course,the result was negative. She was also happy with it but she didn’t show it. She didn’t want to smile in front of Khaleed. “It’s good news” She said giving Khaleed back the folder.

 

“So what’s the plan?” She asked.

 

“You shouldn’t bother about that,I’ve got it covered” Khaleed said.

 

“Okay” Adsh said trying to go back to bed.

 

“Adsh,are you alright?” Khaleed asked.

 

“I’m i alright?” Adsh asked surprised. “Of course i am”

 

“Look,Adsh i’m so sorry for the other day and i’m also sorry for not having your time. I’m sorry” Khaleed said bowing his head.

 

‘He’s sorry when he didn’t even do anything wrong’ Adsh thought.

 

“You haven’t done anything wrong to me Khaleed. I should be the one thankful and sorry for those words i said to you. It was out of frustrations,so it’s okay”

 

“Thanks,Adsh” Khaleed said kissing her on her temple. “So how’s Kabir? Hope he isn’t disturbing you?”

 

“Not at all”

 

“If he is,just tell me,i will help you break his neck” Khaleed said as they both laughed.

Senator Anderson was in his office talking to someone on phone when Kay walked in with a folder. Gabriel signalled for him to wait till he finished his call.

 

“What is it?” Gabriel asked when he dropped his call.

 

“We got an anonymous folder for you” Kay started. “I found it on my table and it was written there that it’s meant for you” Kay explained.

 

“Bring it” Gabriel said stretching his hand forward while Kay gave him the folder. “You can go” He said.

 

“Yes boss” Kay said as he bowed and left the room. Gabriel opened the folder and started scanning through it. He was shocked at the content. As he was going over it again,a small paper fell from the folder.

‘GOT YA’

…was boldly written on it. Many thoughts started running through his mind. Who could have sent it? How can Gage not be his son? Could it be an opponent? He was sweating profusely at the revelation. “Kay!!!” He shouted not bothering to use the telephone.

 

“Yes boss” Kay said running into his office.

 

“We need to go home now!!” Gabriel said

packing all the result back into the folder.

 

“What’s the matter boss?”

 

“Just shut up and do your work!!” Gabriel shouted.

 

Kay was surprised at his boss reaction. What could be the content of the folder. He thought as they went to the parking lot.

 

“Emily! Emily!!” Gabriel shouted as he found his way into the house with Kay trailing behind.

 

“What’s wrong?” Emily asked as she dropped the magazine she was reading on the stool beside her.

 

“Everything is wrong,Emily. Just tell me the meaning of this” Gabriel said flinging the folder at her. She quickly caught it and brought out the content. She was shocked. She haven’t told anyone this before. It was her biggest secret. She started shaking. “Is it true?” She heard Gabriel ask but she couldn’t reply as tears flowed down freely from her eyes.

 

“So it’s true?” Gabriel said.

 

“I can explain” Emily said with a shaky voice.

 

“Explain what?” Gabriel shouted making Emily flinch. “How could you do this to me? I loved you. How could you impose another man’s child on me,Emily?”

 

“You were infertile!!” Emily finally said. “And you were helpless. You needed a son as at that time and even now that was why i did what i did. I was only trying to help” Emily said breaking down.

 

“But you should have told me this before,i would have done something and now the person that sent this might be an opponent or someone who has something against me”

 

“It was anonymous?” Emily asked.

 

Kay’s phone started ringing,he excused himself to pick the call. After he finished with the call he came back to the living room. “Boss” He called Gabriel.

 

“What?!!”

 

“There is a problem”
