❤️OLIVER❤️

I didn’t want to come to school today but I know mum wouldn’t allow me to stay at home so I had no choice than to come to school against my wish.

I didn’t go to class instead cos I know my mind couldn’t comprehend what the teachers would teach so I cut classes for today.

I left my car in the parking lot and I walked to the uncompleted building in front of the school farm.
Nobody would disturb me here so it’s the perfect place for me right now.

I sat down on a pavement and I think about my life.
I brought out a bottle of wine from my bag and I corked it open.

Whoever said life is a bed of roses?
My life is going downhill and there’s nothing I can do about it.

My dad is in a critical condition and not being able to help is what is killing me slowly.

I don’t know how long he has left to spend with us.
It might be days, weeks or even months, the doctor didn’t say exactly when.
He just said we should keep our fingers crossed and watch him die.

His medications are not helping either as he’s constantly in excruciating pain.
I hate seeing his shrunken body fighting for survival on the sick bed.

I’ve missed the once vibrant person bustling with energy.
He is more than a father figure to me. He is my mentor, my greatest teacher.

What would become of my dreams if I lose the one who inspired those dreams?

My greatest dream is to become a professional footballer like dad.
My dad was a football star playing for one of the best teams in the world before he had an accident which made him retire prematurely from the football world.

Mom said he brought a big ball to the hospital when he heard mom had given birth to a bouncing baby boy.

Growing up with a football lover was fun as I got to learn various football tricks that the other kids couldn’t do.

I took a big gulp of the wine and placed the half filled bottle on the pavement.
Just when my life was going fine then life happens.

Life suck so suck it all up and deal.
Yeah. Just deal👌
It’s easier said than done though.
I drained the remaining wine in one gulp and I placed the empty bottle of wine beside me.

I tried to stand up but my vision was getting blurred so I faltered and then I fell like a sack of grain unto the untiled floor.

I groaned in pain from the impact of my great fall.
That was the last thing I remember before I fell into an abyss of darkness.

I haven’t set my eyes on Oliver today though I saw his car in the parking lot.

I’m not giving up on him and I intend to tell him that during lunchtime.

I tried calling Oliver’s number yesterday but he deliberately didn’t pick my calls.

I should be mad at him but strangely I’m not. The only person I blame is the stupid slut.
I wonder why she had to come and live here though.

I’m not going to New York City this weekend to find out everything about her.
It’s so frustrating to know that a mere mute girl is the one my boyfriend obviously like.

It’s just a matter of time though, I’d definitely find her secrets and use it against her.

I placed my phone on the pavement with my notebook and went in search of the sound I heard.

I saw a pavement similar to the one I was sitting on earlier just in the distance.

I walked to the pavement and I gasped in shock when I saw a guy lying face down on the floor while an empty wine bottle was on the pavement.

I rushed over to the guy and turned him on his back.

The guy turn out to be Oliver who I just said I’d stay away from.
That’d be later, Alexa.
For now, I have to help him.

I wonder what he’s doing here instead of being in class.
What are you also doing here? My subconscious mocked.
Touchė.

Shut up, Alexa. This is not the time to have an internal debate with yourself.

I turned my attention back to Oliver who was lying drunkenly on the floor.

I checked his pulse and he was breathing normally.
I tried to carry him back to the pavement but his weight was pulling me down so I went to a shed I saw when I was coming to help him.

I searched for what I could place him on and fortunately I saw a sleeping bag.

I barely managed to place Oliver on the sleeping bag.
I made him lie on his side with knees up so he won’t choke if he later vomits.

I sat close to him to check his breathing at regular intervals.

I have to allow him wake up by himself. He’d be sober by the time he wakes but he might have a hangover.

💓HUNTER💓

It’s lunchtime already and I haven’t seen Oliver since morning.
We were supposed to have first class together but his seat was empty which is odd.

I saw his car in the parking lot when I got to school today.

“Did you guys see Oliver since morning?” I asked my friends.

“Nope. Last time I saw him was at my party” Landon said.

” I think I saw his car in the parking lot” Jason said.

“Same here but he wasn’t in class” I replied.

” He probably cut classes for today” Landon suggested.

I think he’s right cos that explains why his car is in the parking lot but he failed to come to class.

I know that he’s bothered by something recently but I don’t know what exactly the problem is.

I dialed his number but it was just ringing.

❤️OLIVER❤️

I opened my eyes and I find myself lying on an unfamiliar bed in an open space.

It took me several seconds to figure out I’m still in school and I’m lying on a sleeping bag.
I was surprised to see Alexa sitting beside me.
How did she get here?

” Hey, you are awake” she said when she saw me staring at her.

“Yeah, since when did you get here?”

“Few minutes after you fell. I cut class so…” she sighed.
I wonder why she cut class though cos she looks like a serious student to me.

We both stayed silent until she spoke again.

“Why were you drinking?” Alexa asked.

” To numb the pain I was feeling” I said to her.

” Sorry about that. I guess we all deal with pain differently” Alexa said.

” Have you ever lost someone close to you before?” I asked curiously.

” Yes, did you just lose a loved one” she whispered.

” Not yet but I’d soon lose my dad” I said bluntly.

I don’t know why I find it easy to open up to her when I can’t even tell my friends about it.

“Oh! Sorry” she said and she gently squeezed my palm reassuringly.

” Thanks” I said to her.
Just then I remembered something.

“Hope you don’t mind if I ask you a question”

“Nope” she shrugged.

” Why are you not talking to everyone but you talk to me?” I asked.
This is the second time she’d be talking in my presence though the last time ended badly.

❣️ALEXA❣️

I wasn’t supposed to answer his question but I know it’s unfair if I can’t tell him my secret when he clearly opened up to me minutes ago so I narrated my story to him.

💕NARRATIVE💕

Alexa was born with a silver spoon in New York City. Her parents were head over heels in love with each other and Alexa’s dad was a billionaire.

Everything was going fine until mr Smith’s company went bankrupt and the family suffered huge losses.

A lot of debts had to be settled and the family was forced to sell out most of their properties except for their mansion.

Alexa’s dad took to drinking as he found solace in it and before long he became a drunkard.
Alexa was 14 years old by then.

Mr Smith went into rehab and he was finally okay about two years later.
All these while it was Mrs Smith who was footing the bills without complaints.

Last year, a friend of Mr Smith promised to help him get back on his feet.
He said he should come to his office to deliver a suitcase to a certain client in United Arab Emirates.

Mr Smith was surprised at the simplicity of the job that he failed to ask his friend about the content of the suitcase.

Unknowingly to him, the suitcase was filled with a lot of illegal drugs which is against the law of UAE.

To cut a long story short, Mr Smith was arrested at the airport on getting to UAE.
He was labelled as a drug dealer.
He was to be sentenced to death by firing squad few months later as that is the penalty for bringing contraband to the country.

Mrs Smith kept everything from Alexa as she believes she was too young to understand such things.

On the day of the execution, Mrs Smith locked Alexa up in her room and seized her electronic gadgets as well.
In short, she was off all screens.
No phone, laptop, television and the library’s computer wasn’t spared as well.

Alexa was supposed to go to a party with her friends that day so she argued with her mom to unlock her door.

She managed to find an old spare key which she used to unlock the door of her room.
She was almost at the sitting room when she heard a loud scream from her mom who had fallen from the stairs while trying to stop her from leaving the house.

❣️ALEXA❣️
That was the last time I saw mom alive. She died on the spot before the paramedics arrived.
I still have nightmares every night and I didn’t talk to anyone after the first week.
I couldn’t bear the questions anymore. I had been interrogated enough that I thought I’d run mad if anyone should talk to me again.
First, it was the press, then the nosy neighbours, the cops, everyone so I got tired of talking so I stayed mute.

TBC.
Finally, I revealed two secrets all at once.
Now you know why Alexa doesn’t talk to anyone and why Oliver has been acting out of character.
I specially made this episode longer than other ones so please don’t disappoint me with the likes and comments also.

Love you all ❤ ❤ ❤
