There I stood in front of the man who helped me through a lot in the past few weeks. Without him, I wouldn’t know what to do or how to get through everything that happened.

“Yet he’s the cause of everything that happened.”

My inner voice quickly added. Yes he gave the advice to Stefan but he didn’t tell him to take it but still that was bad advice. In a way it is good because I need to sort things out between Stefan and I but finding out he had something to do with it and didn’t tell me, it just changed my mindset about him.

I wasn’t angry at him, I had no right but I just expected more from him. I didn’t expect this.

“You’re with him?”

He gasped and I turned to see Stefan standing up.

“This is why you stood me up?”

“Yes but not the way you think. I am working with him on some files.”

“Seriously?”

“Yes Ethan. Besides I don’t owe you an explanation and you know it. Hiding things goes both ways.”

I spat out in dismay.

“What are you talking about?”

“You failed to mention how the marriage was your idea. You let me wallow in pain. You just watch and comforted me when you had a hand in it.”

“Lina, I didn’t mean any harm. I just gave him an advice. The only one so he wouldn’t loose his son.”

“How about court huh?”

“You and I that could go on for months and he could still loose.”

“He’s rich. He could get the best lawyers and you know it. I’m not even mad at the advice. I’m mad that you didn’t tell me. Just like he didn’t tell me about her or the child. There’s no difference between you two at this point but at least he had the decency to come clean whereas you were just going to keep lying right?”

I asked sarcastically.

“Lina…”

“Don’t Ethan. I just don’t want to be around you right now. I want to finish this files and go home.”

“So you would rather be with him who hurt you.”

“I’m not with anyone ”

I responded and he scoffed.

“Goodbye Lina.”

He turned around and walked away. I almost felt bad for him. He was there for me after all but I didn’t want to be with him at least for today.

“Let’s finish this up.”

I said referring to Stefan who was awfully quiet ever since.

“Alright.”

He said lowly.

I cleaned up my office ready to leave for the day as Stefan stood at the door.

“Let me drop you off.”

I nodded my head not resisting. I’ve had enough for today.

“Let me just…”

“I know where you live?”

I didn’t know how to feel about that. It felt strange because he would mean he was watching me or maybe he asked Ethan. Would he not tell me about that too?

“I’ve been watching you. I couldn’t help myself.”

He added answering the burning question in my mind.

“Ohhh…”

“Let’s go.”

He opened the door wider and I passed through locking it behind me.

“Why have you been watching me?”

I asked again.

“You ask too much questions Lina. That hasn’t changed at least.”

“You still haven’t answered.”

“Because if I didn’t, I would’ve lost my mind.”

He says as we reached his car. I heaved a large sigh with my hand on the handle, his words ringing in my head.
