-Three Weeks Later

I just finished taking a call from Daniella reminding me about the food tasting later today which means I’m not coming home at all. I’ll just make up another excuse as usual.

Daniella wanted the preparations to be done as soon as possible so we could get married but my condition was that I get to plan everything so I’ve been doing everything I can to stall the wedding. I didn’t want to get married to her. I buried myself in work, work and more work all to forget her.

It worked for one week until I went full stalker on her. I started checking up. Where she lived, where she works, who’s she with. I found out everything.

Ethan and I still talk but it’s mostly about business and trust me, I’ve had the urge to ask him about her many times because after my research I found out she hangs out with him most of the times. I just couldn’t do it. I stayed helplessly fantasizing about a woman whom I lost.

Today, the contract from the company she worked in came in. Yes, I signed a contract with the company. I had no idea why I did it. It made me feel a little closer to her so I just did it.

I was about to send a delegate to do the signing for me but before I could control myself, I was calling my driver and on the way to Luther corp already.

After the signing, I tried to leave but I just wanted to see her. Just a glimpse. I had to ask and I did.

One thing led to another, I ended up getting some useless files I might never use just to be closer to her. I didn’t want us to argue us events of the past and my twisted head figured the only way to do that was to act like she was a stranger.

Her face tried to conceal the hurt she felt when I did but her eyes showed everything. I tried to make jokes to cheer her up and then we continued working.

Half of the time, I wasn’t concentrating. At least not on the files. I was busy staring at her. Watching the way her face moves as she works. I’ve missed this girl. I stared at her lips, the same one I’ve been fantasizing about but might never get to taste.

Huffing in dismay, I realised the day will soon be over alongside this facade.

Then, her phone began ringing. The call that changed everything.

I forced a fake smile but it faltered, I was beyond furious. Spending time together is one thing but going on dates is clearly another. One I couldn’t take. I know it’s selfish seeing I’m getting married soon but it is what it is, I can’t take it.

“You were going on a date with Ethan?”

I asked.

“Oh we’re not playing that game anymore.”

She replied mockingly avoiding my questions.

“No. We’re not.”

I responded coldly.

“Answer the question.”

“Pass.”

She replied trying to go back to work.

“Lina. Don’t push it.”

“Oh wow, I thought we were strangers. I thought we don’t know each other anymore.”

“Lina, I…”

“You don’t push it. Let’s just finish this up and go out separate ways. I missed a date because of this.”

That last part had me over the edge.

“So you two are together now?”

“None of your business.”

She snapped.

“Lina…”

“What!”

She fired raising her head breathing harshly. I couldn’t say a word after that, I just stared at her and she stared right back.

“I’m sorry.”

I breathed out after a few seconds. Then, she literally broke down.
