Chapter 35

Andy
I heaved a sigh and stood up, I walked to my phone and took my sim card and memory card then went upstairs to my room. I brought out my first aid kit and cleaned my bruised face then took a shower to rinse off the milk I was soaked in

I wore a white tight shirt with a hoodie on top and black shorts then hid my camera. I don’t want any harm to come to it

I took my wallet and left the room. My mom was standing like she was waiting for me

Mom: where are you going?
Me: somewhere I can get fresh air
I replied and walked past her

Mom: you’re going to see her, aren’t you?
Me: I’m not going to see her
Mom: good. Just keep staying away from her. Be as obedient as you always were

She then walked towards the stairs. I chuckled loudly and she stopped. I faced her

Me: I’m not going to stay away from her mom. I’m just going out. She’s still my girlfriend.

I smirked and left the house. I entered my car and drove to Goodwill’s.

It’s so funny our relationship is not even up to a week and my parents are already at my tail.
I entered the shop and saw Ugwa and Anibe. I smiled, I began to miss her immediately

They had lots of ice-cream in front of them. I walked to them

Me: mind if I join the party
Anibe : Andy my main man. Sit

I drew a chair and sat down then smiled at my babe who was now wearing a yellow dress

Ugwa: Andy, what happened to your face?
She brought her hand to my face. I smirked and looked at her

Me: nothing
Ugwa: what do you mean nothing?
I winked at her

Ugwa: ohhh your dad
Me: the old man’s at it again

I took her ice-cream and ate

Anibe : your dad hits you?
Ugwa: yeah. Lots of times

Anibe : looks like I’m not the only one who has clashes with his father

I chuckled and brought a spoon of ice-cream to her mouth

Me: open up
Anibe : should I leave, so it would just be a date

Me: hahaha. Nah you should stay
She took the ice-cream and then licked her lips.

Anibe : this guy’s ice-cream is so good

I waved at Goodwill who was standing over the counter. He smiled at me and looked at Ugwa. I laughed. Ugwa traced my gaze and looked at me. I shrugged

I took her ice-cream again but she snatched it back

Ugwa: go get yours
She said and glared at me. I got up and glared back at her then went to the counter. I collected a big can of apple flavoured ice-cream.

Goodwill: so what’s going on now?
Me: nothing
He furrowed his brows in a funny way

Me: why that?
Goodwill : you fed her in front of her brother
Me: come on, friends do that
Goodwill : Andy, you’re the worst when it comes to pretending. Look at the smile on your face

I chuckled
Me: thanks for the ice-cream
Goodwill : wait… Why is your face like that?
Me: Mr Lewis Del Solo

I smirked at the angered face he put on

Goodwill : I should really talk to him about that. He shouldn’t do that to you
Me: you’ll only make it worse. It’s just for the mean time. I’ll soon get into university and leave home

He shook his head and brought out a chocolate cake

Goodwill : give this to your girlfriend for me
He winked at me
Me: aren’t you the sweetest
I took it from him as he smiled

Me: I’ll give her
Goodwill : so now you agree that she’s your girlfriend
Me: you caught me

We laughed and I went back to the table. I sat down and opened the can

Anibe : man! That’s a big one
Me: wanna dive in with me
Anibe : hell yeah I wanna

He brought his chair closer and we dipped in
I kept the cake in front of Ugwa

Me: Goodwill said I should give this to you

She chuckled and took it
Ugwa: I’ll thank him later
Anibe: why don’t you give me that then ask him for another one

Ugwa: no thank you
She glared at her brother and he chuckled

When we finished from the shop, we walked outside

Me: you’re gonna go shopping tomorrow?
Ugwa: yeah, with Loretta

I hummed and looked down. I don’t want dad’s men to get her. Not that they would do her any harm Because she’s not who dad thinks she is. But I don’t want her to go through that harassment. And I just can’t tell her that my parents want me to break up with her and they are sending men to get her

Me: baby, I’ll go with you tomorrow
Ugwa: are you sure Loretta would like that? She wants it to be a girl thing

Me: then tell Anibe to tag along. We would shop ours while you shop yours. We would go together and come back together. That’s all

Ugwa: okay. That’s kinda sound
Me: and are you going anywhere else today?
Ugwa: Anibe would drop me home
Me: you haven’t gone home?
Ugwa: no
Me: then how did you change?
Ugwa: oh, I ordered the dress

I looked at Anibe who was leaning against his own car and making a phone call, he was facing the street.

I smirked and placed my hands on her hips then whispered
Me: I love the dress. Shows you’re damn sexy

She chuckled and looked at me
Me: I hope you can still kiss a guy with a bruised face
Ugwa: of course I can. But I won’t

I laughed and left her
Me: come on, let’s get you in the car. Make sure he drops you off now
Ugwa: it’s not an issue
I held her hand and walked her to her brother’s car. He was still making a phone call

I opened the door for her and she sat in. I poked my head into the car
Me: Ugwa
Ugwa: yeah
Her eyes were lit up as she looked at me

Me: I love you
She gasped slightly. I smiled and kissed her slow. She placed her palm on the back of my neck and I heard her moan. Okay, full stop here

Me: I’ll see you tomorrow
I smirked at her pretty face. She smiled. I came out of the car but then she grabbed my hand and pulled me in

Ugwa: I love you too
I know I’m the one who said those words first but… I felt so happy and excited when I heard it from her. I wonder if that’s what she felt when I told her mine

I drew her face and kissed her again. We took about two minutes

I looked at Anibe who was still leaning at the back of the car

Me: I’ll see you tomorrow
I didn’t want to leave her
Ugwa: don’t forget to text me
Me: I won’t
I better get a new phone

Ugwa: one last kiss

She pecked my lips and I smiled and pecked forehead

Me: I love you, don’t forget that
Ugwa: I love you too
I smiled and finally left her. I closed the door and walked to Anibe who already finished the call and was pocketing his phone

Me: I’m going already.
Anibe : ohh, that’s good
Me: can you join us to go shopping tomorrow?
Anibe : sure, I don’t have anything to do tomorrow
Me: thanks

We shook hands and I walked to my car and entered

I drove home and met Reno with dad in the living room. It seems like he just arrived because they were shaking hands and he sat down before dad saw me

Dad: and where are you coming from?
Me: I went to Goodwill’s
I bowed at the both of them and went upstairs. I knew he had brought information on Ugwa. I needed to hear what they were going to say. I stealthily walked down the stairs again without their attention. They were still sipping champagne and I gently stood by a wall leading to the living room

Dad: so did you get the information?
Reno: yes I did. I went to a staff of their school and she gave me some information

Dad: let me hear it

Reno: Her full name is Ojonugwa Achimugu. Daughter of multimillionaire Samson Achimugu, CEO and founder of AUC Corporations. She is in her last class in high school and is currently 18 years old. Her address is here too but I can’t get her today. It would be on Monday when she’s going to school

Dad: what? Are you sure this information is correct?
Reno: I’m quite sure sir. She’s the daughter of Mr Achimugu

Dad: wow, this is good news
Reno: but Sir, why did you ask me to bring the daughter of Mr Achimugu? I thought you were trying to get on his good side

Dad: I am. I am. Just that I didn’t know she was his daughter. Don’t worry about bringing her, and forget about her.

Reno: if you say so sir
Dad: let’s drink

I heard clinking of their champagne flutes.

So dad said its good news. And he has been trying to get on her dad’s good side. Now this is confusing

I retreated and entered into the kitchen. I got some apples and sliced them then kept them in a blender. As it was blending, I opened the fridge and brought out some ice cubes and kept them in a tumbler. I turned off the blender and poured the thick juice into the glass tumbler and stirred it. This is just the way I like my apple smoothies

I sat on the stool against the white counter and kept pondering on why dad immediately changed his mind about Ugwa. Was it because he found out who she really is?

So what if she was actually a street girl, what would he have done to her?

I heard my name behind me and I looked
Me: mom

Mom: you were with that girl again. Nessa said she saw you with her. So you went to meet her

Me: mom. I never knew you were this troublesome. I thought you were my sweet mother who always stood beside me whether I’m right or wrong. What has gotten into you?

Mom: you’re the reason for this. Just stay away from that girl. You have no idea what you’re putting yourself into. Black people are heartbreakers.

Me: how do you know? You talk like you’ve experienced heart break from one of them

Her face changed
Mom: what are saying? I experienced what? Rubbish, I’m not speaking out of experience and I thank God I didn’t experience anything like that. But I know people who have and it was terrible. Don’t you think you should avoid that?

Me: is it the female black people that broke those people’s hearts or it’s the male

She didn’t answer
I sighed and took my juice and walked to her
Me: momma, I’m in love
Her eyes spelt anger and I chuckled because I knew the reason she was acting that way. Her ex boyfriend did this to her. Such a wicked guy

I left her in the kitchen and went to the living room. Reno had gone and it was just dad. He called on me, probably to talk about my girlfriend who’s the daughter of a multimillionaire

Dad: take this new phone. Sorry about the one I smashed
He pushed a box forward

Wow. Dad’s now a gentleman. And how did he get that phone quickly

I walked to it
Me: thanks dad
I took the box up. He wanted to say something but his phone rang and he had to pick it. I used that opportunity to go to my room

I inserted my sim and SD card then turned it on. I immediately texted Ugwa

I hope you’re home now baby. Be safe. I love you

Unugwa
I read the text and smiled happily. Anibe chuckled and took the phone from me

Me: hey!
He read the text and smiled then gave it back to me

Anibe : lovergirl
He winked and walked to the fridge

We were at our house. He came in to apologize to dad. And to tell him he’s done being irresponsible. Dad wasn’t mad at him anymore and he forgave him easily. Mom on the other hand, almost killed him if not for grandma.

He told dad he still won’t be staying here and since he’s reasons were good, Dad let him stay out. One of the strong reasons is to learn how to survive on his own
And I wanted to shout ‘cooking’ but I decided not to bug into their conversation since I was eavesdropping

I went to my room and laid down on the bed
✉ I’m home now baby. And I hope your dad didn’t do anything again

I waited for him to reply
My phone buzzed

✉ he’s actually in a good mood tonight. I’m safe

I chuckled and replied
✉ that’s good to know
✉ come online. Let’s love chat

I smiled. Time to cook up some romance

***
It was already morning, I got up and went downstairs for breakfast. Anibe had returned to his house last night and to be honest, breakfast would be boring. I need to beg him to come back home

After breakfast, I brought out my laundry and a maid helped me with them today. Because I needed to go out, I would have done it myself.

I went about the house to see if I had to do anything else. I noted some things and I did them. Then went back upstairs to take a bath.

While I came back to the room after my bath, I saw the light of my phone on. I walked to the bed and saw a message from Loretta

✉ I’ll come to your house by 10am so we can go and pick Andy up.

I replied
✉ okay. It’s fine

I got dressed and waited for her to come. Once she arrived, my driver took us to his house. It’s the first time I’m coming here

Me: did you tell him we’d be coming?
Loretta : nope
Me: what? Why?

She shrugged. We got out of the car and walked inside

Me: wow, his house is nice
Loretta: like yours isn’t better

I chuckled
Me: because mine is better doesn’t mean I can’t recognize the one that’s good

She rolled her eyes and we walked in. I admired the inside. No doubt it’s a rich man’s house

Loretta: wait for me here. I’ll go get him
She dropped her bag on the couch and I sat down. She went upstairs

I looked to the left and a woman came out from a partitioned area. She locked eyes with me and I guessed from her appearance and look, she’s Andy’s mother. And I’ve seen her picture in Andy’s camera before

I stood up
Me: hello ma’am
She looked me over

Woman: what are you doing here?

Wow, I didn’t expect that

Me: I actually came with Loretta to see Andy

She huffed
Woman: look blackie. Let me warn you, stay away from my son. He has nothing to do with a thing like you. Save yourself the humiliation and stay away from him. I don’t want to see you anywhere near this house or him. Do you understand?

I stood with my mouth agape. I tried to assimilate what she had said

Woman : look. Andy doesn’t love you. He’s just being sentimental and it’s all about pity. Now do me a favor and get out! Get out!

I sighed, trying hard not to cry. I hate being yelled at. I hate it so much

I turned to go when I heard Andy’s voice. He was climbing down the stairs with Loretta

Andy: mom what’s happening here?
He had a stern look on his face

Woman: go back upstairs. Both of you!
She ordered

I breathed out and walked out of the house. Andy called at me but I ignored it

I entered my car and my driver zoomed off. After a while, I looked back to see Andy’s car behind. I didn’t care. I just felt hurt about his mother’s words.

Just then, I saw Daniel’s dad by the roadside. He was standing by his car and I saw something like a gun in his hand. He entered the car before ours drove by.

What was he doing with a gun? And he looked like he didn’t want anybody to see him with the way he was looking here and there

  1. Everything is becoming confusing. Thank God Andy's dad has had a change of heart but his mom should not let whatever happened to her in the past affect her son's love life. And what would Daniel's dad be doing with a gun?
