I continue shaking my head,tears now rolling down my cheeks as I try to tell the lady that I didn’t take her purse but she isn’t even listening to me.

That’s probably because she can’t hear me.

“What did she do?”

“What’s happening here?”

“Why are you holding her like that?”

People that are passing by asks and she finally let’s go of me as she turns back to face the people.

“Thank you for all coming and deciding to interfere. I was just standing here on my own when this lady had passed by me and she had actually bumped into me along the way which she apologize for and I didn’t see anything wrong in that because anyone could make mistakes but little did I know that she is a thief and she actually stole my purse.!”

She says and I shake my head even harder, telling her that I didn’t took the purse.

I wasn’t even paying much attention to her.

“Then now,when I tried asking her about the purse, she isn’t even saying anything to me. She just keeps shaking her head and crying as if she’s innocent even when I know that she’s not!”

She says and I shake my head immediately as everyone turns to me.

“Oh, you don’t know. She can’t say anything..”

A guy amidst the crowd laughs, shaking her head as he stares down at me with hatred across his face. I’m used to getting that a lot and it hurts even more as time passes by.

“Why can’t she say anything, uh? Why can’t she speak up after she had stolen my purse!”

She yells louder and I keep my face buried down.

God! Why me?!

Why do I have to keep suffering for something that I didn’t do.

Why do I have to keep suffering every single time because of my disability?!

Why can’t I just speak up?!

“No, that’s not the reason that she couldn’t speak up. She’s dumb so she can’t say anything.”

A woman says and the lady turns to look at me, staring at me even though I’m not looking up before she turns back to the crowd.

“Fine. Let’s say that she’s dumb and can’t say anything. That still doesn’t explain the fact about why she will think that it’s alright to steal!”

“You’re dumb and you’re stealing. You’re really an unfortunate person.”

I raise my head as tears rolls down my cheeks and I shake my head harder, telling all of them that I didn’t steal the purse.

I will never steal. No matter how hard that it is for me and no matter how tempting that stealing may seem. I will never steal!

“This is unbelievable, a dumb person like you. Adding to your own misfortune abd even trying to steal. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”

“I can’t blame her. She’s just as unfortunate and bad luck as she looks.”

More tears rolls down my cheeks as they all surround me and rain insults on me.

“Ma’am…”

A voice says and the lady turns to look at the guy that’s running towards us.

“I think that you might have dropped this ma’am.”

He stretches something to her.

Wait. Isn’t that a purse?

“Oh my God. I have been searching so hard for this, thank you very much.”

She says and the guy welcomes her before leaving and she turns back to look at me.

“I’m so sorry that I have accused you wrongly. The purse must have dropped when I was grabbing the other things, please don’t be annoyed with me. I’m very sorry.”

She says and the tears comes even harder.

What would have happened if the purse hadn’t been found?

She would have blame me definitely.

They all would have blamed me wrongly and I would have went to jail.

“I’m so sorry.”

She says and I shake my head once again before wiping away the tears and walking away.
