~PRESENT TIME~

I went back to the conference room about fifteen minutes later. Octavia was long gone and the meeting progressed.

Over the years, one thing I’m now certain of is that Van hasn’t lost his sense of business. When I worked for him in the past, it was actually one of the things that made me get attracted. Sadly, it’s also one of those things that made me loose interest. Sometimes I wonder how that’s even possible. I guess with Van you just have to open up to every outcome.

His sense of business gave him the ideology of never giving up. He took it to a whole new level and had the mentality of….

“Once it’s mine, it’s mine. No one else’s.”

Van took Possessiveness to a whole new level putting me at the middle of it. All these and many more accumulated together formed the reason why I ran.

^THREE YEARS EARLIER^

“My new office.” Looked like a room for rats. Not the hygiene but the size. I literally had to squeeze myself to get in not to mention all my other stuff.

The pay was too good, I can’t leave. Not yet at least. I struggle till the end of this year before wrapping it up and calling it a day.

Until then, I keep my head down and mind my own business.

“Hi, you look like you need some help.”

A male voice says in a warm tone. I slowly raised my head up and met his gaze. He’s a sight for sore eyes that’s for sure. Too bad I’ve had enough of me to last a century so I wasn’t interested.

“It seems you don’t know who I am. If you did you probably wouldn’t be talking to you.”

“I don’t care about what happened at the party of whatever. I just want to help, you seem like you really need it. Call it my good deed for the day if you may ”

I half-smiled leaving the way so he could help. With Rash’s help, it became much easier to get my things in settling down faster.

I knew it would be rude not to offer my thanks in some way so I invited him for coffee in the cafeteria.

Minutes later, I was laughing heartily to a joke he made until someone yanked him off the table. He crashed to the hard ground with a loud thud. Most of the employees weren’t around since it wasn’t break.

“You’re fired! I don’t pay you to fraternize with other employees. Get out of my company!”

He roared and Rash ran off.

“Have you gone mad! He did nothing wrong!”

I retorted.

“Fire me too then huh! I was obviously fraternizing.”

He scowled refusing to respond.

“Don’t push it Elena.”

With that, he walked away. Like I said, the beginning of my misery and pain.

~PRESENT TIME~

“And that concludes the end of the presentation.”

I yawned obviously snapping out of my trance. I hadn’t listened to a word that was said. I’ll read through the documents a little later I guess.

For now, I’ll concentrate on getting out of here as fast as humanly possible.
