I raised my head from my book and glanced at Stefan. He noticed my gaze so I quickly removed it. I’ve been doing that repeatedly for the past half hour or so as he has been on the same document for the same time.

Clearly what ever that woman had to say affected him really badly.

The goal of this “outing” was supposed to be uncovering the truth. I’ve done that now so I’m bored, his house is way better than this awkward situation right now.

“I want to go back Stefan.”

He didn’t respond, in fact I doubt if he heard me.

“Stefan….”

I tapped his hand and he shook snapping out of whatever trance he was in.

“I want to go back. I’m tired here.”

“Oh, ok. I’ll call the driver to take you in five minutes.”

“Are you okay?”

I asked, he sucked in a sharp breath then sighed.

“Not really.”

“Can I help?”

“I’m not sure. I’m faced with an impossible choice and I don’t know what to do.”

“Why is it impossible?”

I asked shrugging.

“Because on one hand, I can’t let go of one thing and on the other hand I can’t live with the other.”

He explained, I nodded understanding.

“I have no idea what to do.”

He added.

“This is the part where I’m supposed to offer you great advice right?”

“Yeah, right about now…”

He teased making me chuckle.

“Just let go. Live in the moment Stefan Pierce. You can’t cover everything. Meetings, proposal. Sometimes even you deserve a little freedom where anything is possible so just let go. In time, the answer would show itself.”

He nodded slowly.

“Mm’mm. Thank you Lina.”

“Did you just say thank you?”

I joked.

“Enjoy it because you’re only getting it once…”

“No!”

I yelled dramatically as his phone beeped.

“Driver’s here Lina. ”

“Alright, I’ll see you later.”

I got my things and stood up.

“Hey Lina……”

He trailed off making me turn.

“As of today, don’t ever feel like a prisoner.”

“But that’s exactly what I am Stefan.”

“You’re not.”

He clarified.

“You said so yourself..”

“That was before….”

“Before what?”

I asked curiously.

“Just before. I’ll see you later.”

I twitched my lips slightly before sparing one last glance at him and I walked out of his office.

I took the elevator downstairs and out of the building searching for his driver.

I saw him from afar and started walking towards him.

Suddenly, I felt like I was being watched by someone. I looked over my shoulders and there was no one there.

“I’m probably just over reacting…”

I chuckled nervously before getting into the car.

Then. Fom the corner of my eye, I saw her. Across and standing, her eyes on me, red and vicious.

“Daniella….”

I gulped and tried to look away but I just couldn’t. She smirked and then walked away. I felt a chill run down my spine. Things just got creepy really fast.
