I’ve explained this particular thing countless times over to Daniella.

She cannot just waltz into my office. We both agreed to keep Baby Julian a secret until the time was right but at the rate she’s going, a reporter might just follow her and find out everything not to mention that now Lina has seen her, she’ll want to know the truth.

Lina isn’t dumb, I know she won’t try to deceive herself that we’re business partners. I didn’t have in me to lie to her yet again but I also couldn’t tell the truth.

There are just too many secrets surrounding us. A part of me wishes to just let her go far away from this. I really don’t want her getting caught up at all.

Daniella sat on my chair when I got in. She got up expectantly hugging me lightly.

“Why didn’t you call before coming. What if….”

“I’m sorry Stefan. This is the only way I would be able to get your attention.”

“You know very well that’s not true. If the baby…”

“I’m not talking about the baby Stefan. I’m talking about me and you as parents. I’ve been thinking and I realised I don’t want my child to grow up in a broken home. It’s just not healthy.”

“I told you Daniella. Julian will never feel like he doesn’t have a father ”

“That’s just it Stefan. You can’t promise that. There are always going to be some nights where you choose your girlfriend over us or the company or something else. Whether or not you choose to admit it, we won’t ever be a family. I’ll rather have my son think he’s fatherless than offer him one who won’t give him hundred percent.”

“What are you saying?”

“I think you know already. I mean every word, we were building something once. Don’t forget that. It’s either you give me a reason to think that we’re a family or you won’t be able to see Julian again.”

“You can’t seriously be threatening me. He’s my son.”

“That’s precisely why am doing this. He’s your son, show how much you love him and give him a home. Settle down Stefan and acknowledge me. That’s the only way, I can’t have my son thinking I was a mistress. I won’t allow it.”

She added firmly before standing up.

“Daniella, don’t you dare do this.”

“Think about what I said Stefan. Reassess your priorities. ”

With that said, she walked out of my office. I laid my head on my table hitting if repeatedly faced with an impossible choice.

“I don’t love his mother. I only love my son and if I want to see him again and he in his life, watch his grow up it means I’ll have to give up my happiness. Put a ring on his mom’s finger.”

I banged my head even harder.

After a while, I stopped and got up to go get Lina. She and Ethan seemed to be having a good conversation. Nevertheless, I took her back to my office sparing one glance at her.

Soon, very, very soon. I’ll have to make a decision. When I do, I’ll loose Lina all for the sake of my son. Can I live with that?
