Chapter Four ( Vienna)

 

Tequila was picked up from the streets of Circle by Shuga when she was just twenty four years, she was not a virgin by then, she had been raped countless times because she slept on the streets, Shuga happened to be her savior, she promised her better life, and that is the better life she was given…Life of a prostitute, she had no option back then, but the money was enough for her, just jumped to it without thinking. But lately, she is just in desperate for freedom, and before she would be granted that, she needed to introduce three girls into the business, bringing in a virgin will grant you an automatic freedom. She knew she had messed up the whole process, she was supposed to ask Femi whether she was a virgin or not, but she was afraid Femi will get a clue of wherever she was bringing her into, so she just watched it happen.

Femi walked steadily into the room, it was lit with blue light and she could see the figure of a woman standing by the window at the left corner side of the room, she greeted with a shaking voice.

 

Femi: Good Evening Ma’

Shuga: Good evening Girl, take a seat; tell me, how do you call yourself?

Femi: Thank you Ma’, errm…I’m Femi, yes Femi!
Shuga: I can see you are Nigerian

Femi: Yes Ma’

Shuga: Tequila told me everything, she told me you just came in from Benin and needed a job, you know, I have jobs here, the money is good, you will regret if you reject it, trust me

Femi: Yes, she never told me the nature of the job

Shuga: Okay, I have clients, Politicians, Musicians and what have you, Rich and powerful people who will give you big money if you please them

Femi: Please Ma’, can you be more specific a little bit Madam

Shuga: In Nigeria, you call them Ashawo…

Femi: Whaat? Ma’,you want me to work as a prostitute

Shuga: You see all the girls out there, and the cars parked out there, those girls you see out there drive the cars, they take good cash

Femi: What about Tequila, she stays in a kiosk and she walks here, she’s broke like hell

Shuga: Yes, she does not work as a full time lady, in here, we call them “Ashawos” as Ladies…Tequila also works as a bartender, and when she works as a Lady, she only goes out sometimes and not to big men, just the hungry guys out there

Femi: Hmmm

Shuga: Let me ask you, are you virgin

Femi: No Ma’. Yes

Shuga: Oh look at you, not soo good at lying, you know…If you start as a virgin, you earn three times more than the other ladies, Tequila I know ,might have told you to say no incase I should ask, she’s just jealous

Femi: Hmm, I think I should go think about it Ma’

Shuga: Of course you have to, you can, take this card, that’s my VVIP card, not everyone has that, not even Tequila…Call me anytime you are ready

Femi: Okay Ma

 

Before Femi left, Shuga gave her five hundred Ghana cedis, Femi was happy and thanked her wholeheartedly, she went outside to check on Tequila, but she was nowhere to be found.

 

Lady 1: Make you watch your front, you blind?

Femi: Abeg jorrr, make I breathe

Lady 2: Naija babe abi…come here

Femi: You take your witchcraft pass Naija reach Ghana?

Her comment made the ladies laugh out loud.

 

Femi needed to know more about what she was getting herself into, she joined the ladies she believed where Nigerians on their table, they welcomed her and ordered some drinks for her.

 

Femi: You see Tequila for here?

Lady 1: She dey bush inside, I see say some car pick her go

Lady 2: What you dey do for this country?

Femi: Ebi job wahala wey carry me come, Benin no help, so I come land here

Lady 1: I see you komot Madam Office room now now, what be the run down?

Femi: ebi job wey carry me come land here

Lady 2: Nice, the money good, we all dey inside, but you for shine your eyes well well

Femi: I hear oooo jorrr

 

Femi was soon left alone at the table, she was approached by this guy who she knew immediately was in need of a Lady

 

Man: Hi Pretty, make my night, I for go see your Madam, how much she go charge whole night?
Femi: Me? I’m not a Lady jorrr, abeg carry yourself go make I think

 

Femi just got another Intel, So from the guy; Shuga is the person who charges the customers when they need the service of a Lady.

“But why she nor go let them charge, eno be dema body wey dem dey use, so why she dey charge give them”…Femi asked herself.

 

Shuga was a very smart woman, she has been in this business for some time now, and she definitely knows when any of them try to play smart. Tequila was not part of her favorite ladies, she knew very well Tequila was fighting very hard to free herself from her control, but Shuga wouldn’t let her go until she brings in new Ladies. Shuga felt deceived, Femi couldn’t give a straight answer when she asked her about her virginity, that, means, Tequila had told her to lie about it.

Femi took a walk around the pub, and every corner of it had a story to tell…Sex, lust, romance and drugs.

Is that what she was getting herself into, let her fate decide.

Tequila she understands wouldn’t be back anytime soon, she then decided to walk herself home…Under the great overhead bridge, she could see juveniles and youthful ages sleeping away the day, on a cold night. She was already mistaken for a hooker, the patriots whispered her to come warm up their night.
