MY BIRTHDAY PARTY – EPISODE 7

Cindy shout echoed through the dark house and Oliver heard the sirens coming nearby. “They are coming! The men shouted outside and fled while Oliver got Cindy up from the floor.

They were bleeding seriously and the cops arrived, “they left already, what took you so long to come! Cindy said immediately a cop entered.  Few cops were dispatched immediately to chase after them,  “But we didn’t waste time did we? What the hell happened here? Who could have done this? A cop asked who happened to be Oliver friend as he was not able to recognize the house anymore.

 

Cindy began to cry again seeing everything in the house destroyed and Oliver held her, “its okay alright, we can always get new ones as long as they didn’t succeed in taking our lives, He said.

“But do you know who could have done this? A cop asked.

“I don’t think I do, Cindy let’s go, Oliver said taking her.

“To where! The cop asked.

“To the hospital, thanks for coming anyway, Oliver said and the cop phone began to ring.

 

“Yes, he picked up. “OK return, he said after some seconds and faced Oliver, “they lost them, if you know who actually did this, don’t hesitate to let us know okay, the cop said and Oliver nodded.

“I have to get Cindy treated, thank you, Oliver said approaching his car but saw the glass damaged.

He looked at Cindy who looked with a teary eyes, “its okay I can still drive, let’s go, he said opening the door for her and drove off.

 

“Uncle why did they try to ki*ll us? Who are they? Cindy asked.

“I don’t know yet baby but I’ll get to the root of this, Oliver replied.

“So we’re homeless now right? Cindy asked.

“I’ll get a place for us, the house will be fixed back okay, he said touching her smiling but she sniffed.

“I thought we were going to die, uncle you’re bleeding, Cindy said pointing at his chest where a big piece of glass pierced him.

“I’ll get it removed and treated in the hospital okay, Oliver said and took his phone dialling a number.

 

The phone rang twice but Winifred angrily ended the call and switched off the phone.

“Why did you do that? Lily asked.

“Mind your business, Winifred snapped.

“What’s that for? When did this start? Lily asked surprised.

“Just leave me alone okay, Winifred said and Lily shook her head and laid on the bed backing her.

 

“Uncle who were you calling? Cindy asked.

“A friend, I was thinking you’ll sleepover at her place but don’t worry we’ll stay in the hospital. Is that okay for you? He asked but she only looked at him sadly.

“Are you returning me back to the hospital where I was dumped? Uncle am sorry if I’ve done anything bad to you, please don’t take me back, Cindy said in tears.

“You got me wrong, we’ll be going there for treatment and lodging at the hotel will be too late. We’ll sleep over in my office, am not leaving you there okay stop saying that, Oliver said touching her hair.

“Promise? She said.

“I promise, he replied smiling…….

 

The next morning his cop friend visited him at the hospital, “we stayed back at your place to see what was not damaged, we can still get your house fixed, Alfred said.

“Thank you, Oliver said and winced in pain.

“I hope you’ve done the needful for the wounds, you know its glass, Alfred said.

“Yea sure, am just thinking about Cindy, she cried the whole night when she was injected, I wish it was just me facing this not her, Oliver said.

 

“Hey, I know you’re hiding something from me, am your friend remember, Alfred said.

“A guy threatened me yesterday before the incident happened, I don’t trust him but I don’t want to accuse anyone falsely too, oliver said.

“I can secretly investigate him, whoever did this must be punished, Alfred said.

“I know, but how are you going to do that? Oliver asked.

“Just start by telling me what I need to know about this guy, Alfred said.

“I only know him by name Joseph, I’ll let you know more about him, Oliver said.

“Consider it done, I’ll take your car to get it fixed, am so sorry for what happened, Alfred said.

“Thank you so much, I’ll go check on Cindy to know how she’s faring, Oliver said.

“OK daddy, Alfred said jokily and they laughed at that.

 

Winifred woke up the next morning with a sober look, remembering what happened last night made her feel bad.

Lily gave her a strange face when she got up too that made Winifred held her, “am sorry okay, she pleaded on her body.

“Just let me be please I gat class to attend, Lily said.

“We are attending the same class right? Am so sorry about yesterday just that when you mentioned Duke, a different sensation came upon me I couldn’t control, Winifred said and lily looked at her.

 

“You’re right Winifred, I shouldn’t detect your life for you, you’re free to do whatever you believe is right for you, Lily said.

“You’re still mad at me? I just said am sorry okay. Is It about Oliver? OK fine I’ll give love a chance again but if it turns out bad, trust me I will never forgive you, Winifred said.

“Suit yourself, Lily said leaving her to the wardrobe.

“So what should i do? Winifred asked.

“Start by leaving me alone, Lily said and a knock was heard on the door. She opened it and saw Joseph standing,

 

“Hi good morning baby, Lily said kissing him while Winifred sighed taking her phone on the bed and left to the kitchen immediately.

She switched the phone on and called back Oliver, “hi good morning, she greeted when he picked up.

“Good morning, I hope your sleep was good? He asked.

“Yea, sorry about yesterday I was so tired, she said.

“I understand, you wanted seeing me today right? Oliver asker.

“Hmm yea, when will you free? She asked.

“I’ll let you know dear, okay just take care of yourself, he said.

“You too bye, she said and dropped the call.

 

The laughter of Joseph and Lily was pissing her off as she was already irritated hearing his voice. She went in taking her clothes to change up and left, what surprised her was that no one said a word to her or was even concerned.

“You too are so crazy, she mumbled inside her and stopped a cab.

 

On the way she saw someone familiar and stopped the cab, paid the cab man and ran after him, “Patrick, she called out and he stopped.

“Winifred, he said coming close to her and gave her a brief hug.

“You relocated or something? Its been long I saw you around, she said.

“Yea i did because there was nothing left here for me, he replied.

“Is it because of Lily? You’re disturbed or your conscience is eating you up because you hurt her that bad huh? Winifred asked.

“Really? Is she still with that guy? He asked.

“You mean Joseph? She asked.

“Of course, he replied.

“Yes, i left them at home, why? She asked and Patrick Scoffed.

 

“How is he able to hide his character to Lily or is she that blind to see who that guy really is huh? Patrick asked.

“What do you mean? Winifred asked.

“That guy is dangerous, he threatened me to leave Lily and succeeded in breaking us apart. I barely survived his attack which i had to run away, tell her to be careful, he’s more dangerous than a viper. I have to go now, Patrick said touching Winifred on her shoulder and left her standing in shock……
