“Jesus Christ, so what you are trying to say is that Louis will die soon?, as in we won’t see him again after two months?” Leo asked getting scared.

“According to Betty, yes, we need to do something, my Louis can’t die, we need to get help for him, he was the only person that gave me the love i couldn’t get from my mom, please Leo, let’s do something” Nanya sobbed.

“What should we do?, Am sure Charles knows about this, that is why he doesn’t want louis to impregnate any woman before dying so that he can inherit the company” Leo said lost in thought.

“About that Leo, am pregnant” Nanya said looking away.

“What?, You mean for Louis?, Isn’t that too early?” Leo asked confused.

“I did it on purpose, I had no choice, after eavesdropping on the conversation Charles had with his mother, i decided to make sure i make Louis fall in love with someone and Impregnate her, but i had no idea he was going to die” she sniffed. “And so when Louis confessed his feelings to me, i was happy, i made him have sex with me the first time he visited my house because i was ovulating then” she completed.

“What?, do you really love him like that?, you know that getting pregnant is not a child’s play?” Leo asked wiping his face.

“I know, but this is Louis’ company we are talking about, I don’t want Charles inheriting what louis suffered to build, let us help him please” she begged.

“What do we do?, We can’t let him die, do you have any idea?” Leo asked with a sigh.

“I don’t know, sincerely, i have no idea” she cried.

“See what we will do, tell him about the pregnancy, who knows?, he might decide to live because of it, while i also run around and look for a good heart surgeon, that is the only thing i can think of” he said scratching his hair.

“I think i have someone to call, a good heart surgeon based abroad” Nanya said suddenly wiping her tears.

“Oh really?, How do we contact him and who is he?”

“Doctor Akachukwu smart, all i need to do is to send him a mail and wait for his reply” she replied.

“How well do you know him?”

“We used to be very good friends before he travelled out to pursue his career” she sniffed.

“Okay then, contact him, while i also look for other doctors, we can’t hope on one only” he replied sighing.

“Okay then” she said leaving.

She breathed hard and waited for him to enter her apartment, she played with her fingers nervously and walked around the living room.

“There you are babe, how are you doing today?” Louis asked pecking her on the cheek.

“Am fine and you?” She asked.

“I have not been fine since you called in sick in the morning, what is wrong?” he asked looking at her.

“Babe, can you please have a seat, i have something i need to tell you” she said walking to the couch.

“What is it?, You are scaring me” Louis asked walking towards the couch too.

“Am pregnant, am carrying your baby inside my tummy” she said closing her eyes.

“You are what?, you are carrying my baby?, you mean i will have someone to hold unto my company when am gone, i won’t leave it in the hands of a stranger anymore?” Louis cried.

“What are you talking about babe?, is there anything you are not telling me?” She cried too as she couldn’t hold the tears.

“Nothing babe, am just happy, my legacy won’t die off anymore and i promise to live for you and for my baby, i will try, even though am getting weak, i will try to be strong, i can’t leave you and my baby in this wicked world, i i i will ma..ke..” he cried as he hugged Nanya so tight that she feared she would get a miscarriage.

“It’s all right babe, everything will be fine” she sobbed hugging him too.

Louis let out a breath for the umpteenth time since he sat down in doctor Joe’s office, he picked up a magazine and scanned through it before doctor Joe entered , apologizing right from the door.

“Mr Walter, am sorry for the delay, i had an emergency” he said sitting down.

“That’s okay doc, how have you been?” Louis asked with a sigh.

“I have been fine, i never expected you to be back after the last discussion we had concerning your health” he adjusted his spectacle.

“You mean the discussion we had concerning my death?” Louis scoffed looking away.

“You don’t need to be blunt Mr Walter, i told you that you had options” he replied with a shake of the head.

“Yea, that is exactly what brought me here this early morning” Louis said leaning closer. “Do you think i can still get a transplant or is it too late?” Louis asked in fear.

“Of course, if we can get a donor before two months, you will be operated on” he explained.

“So how do we go about it?”

“You will have to go through a careful screening process, and then we will place you on transplant list, a team of heart doctors, nurses, social workers will review your medical history, diagnostic test results to see if you are able to survive the procedure and then comply with the continuous care needed to live a long healthy life. Once you are approved, you must wait for a donor to become available, this process can be long and stressful, but we will wait” he enormously explained.

“So, where will the donor come from?, Will the person die for me to live?” Louis asked.

“Of course, the person will die for you to live, everyone have one heart” he smiled.

“No doc, i don’t want anyone dying because of me, i can’t live with the pain” he said shaking his head showing a sign of negativity.

“Mr Walter, no one is dying because of you, donors for heart transplant are individuals who may have died recently or become brain dead, which means that although body is been kept alive by machines, the brain has no sign of life. many times, these donors die as a result of a car accident, severe head injury or a gunshot wound” he replied after clearing his throat.

“Okay, so when should i come for the screening?”

“We can do it now” doctor Joe replied.

“Okay then, am ready” louis smiled.

“If i may ask Mr Walter, what made you change your mind?, Because you vividly told me that you won’t go for any transplant” he said, then stood up, walked to the shelf and brought out a piece of paper.

“I found a reason to stay, something to hope on, something i can’t leave behind, I found love doc, and she is giving me another love” louis replied with a glint of happiness.

“What are you saying?, your love is giving you another love?, What does that even mean?, I know people with heart diseases don’t talk gibberish, so i don’t know if your own case is different” doctor Joe said sitting back on the chair.

“Am not talking gibberish doctor, the lady am in love with is carrying my baby in her tummy, they are all the strenght i need to push through what life threw at me, i want to live for them” he replied with a smile.

“Oh, you will soon be a father?, No problem, let’s pray we get a donor on time, everything will be fine, and meanwhile, here is the list of food you should be taking for the mean time until you are done with the surgery” he shifted the piece of paper towards him.

“Okay doctor, so to the screening room then?” Louis asked collecting the piece of paper.

“Yea, let’s go” he stood up and walked away with Louis.
