MY HEART DESIRE -Episode 14

Dan almost fainted out of shock,he stood up slowly and looked at the direction of the women, luckily, they were engrossed in their conversation to notice or hear anything. When he had calmed down, he peeped for the second time only this time they were heading out and they would have to pass in the room he was currently in. He carefully dashed out of the room so stealthily to avoid suspicions. As he headed downstairs he remembered them talking about a den where they kept Lucy hostage, his blood boiled at the mere thought that Sarah had kidnapped Lucy.

It did not make any sense to him at all. Who was Sarah? It suddenly occured to him that he did not surely know the woman that had brought him up. He could not really lay his fingers on whatever she was plotting and that bothered him. He just hoped that he would be fast enough to save the only woman that made his world complete. The only woman that brought happiness and love to his life, in a moment, Dan remembered his supposed to be mother -in – law, Lucy’s mother. He remembered her words about Lucy’s father, he had at one time thought he was responsible for Lucy’s disappearance but Governor Tunde was also concerned about it. The woman had put her life in line to save her daughter indeed a mother’s love surpasses anything in this world.

He was left wondering if he had ever received a true mother’s love. The one claiming to be his mother at the hospital was she really her mother? He trailed after Sarah with a new zeal and energy, he had to know the mysteries sorrounding her once and for all. He was lost in thoughts almost missing their car taking a left turn, he just wished to catch up with her and squeeze the truth out of her.

Elsewhere Governor Tunde was troubled, he had sent his men to keep tabs on Dan and by that time he was yet to receive any news from them. He had given them instructions to feed him with information on what was happening and if need be call him over. He had tried their number for the fourth time now and every time the annoying automatted voice came up. What was puzzling him was why they had switched off their phone.

This was exactly the same month and time he had ordered for the execution of his innocent wife. He had been the architect of many deaths but that of his wife of his wife was entirely his fault and her blood and spirit had been crying out to him to do the right thing before it got out of hand.

In politics as far as he was concerned, you had to do all sorts of vices in order to remain in power. He knew quite a number of politicians that were involved in ritual killings,drug traffiking and all vices and therefore he was justified. Whoever had said that politics was a dirty game deserved an accolade because it was nothing far from the truth.

Unfortunately for him, he had no way of stopping it, he had tried to overcome his ways but his greed for power and fame had always dragged him back to square one.

His loud ringtone startled him, grabbing his phone, he quickly answered the call without even looking at the caller. “Hello boss, we are on Dan’s trail, he also seems to be on someone’s else trail, i am sending you the address after the call,” his right hand man’s voice echoed in his ears cheerfully. He smiled wickedly to himself, “it is time i put an end to all this madness,” he said to himself.

Dan leaned against the wall peeping to where Sarah had entered in rage. From his position it was suitable for him to see anyone coming from outside or from inside where he had his eyes on. He also chose the best position that he would monitor the activities that went on in the room.

He checked the camera recorder on his brea$t pocket and put it on, he could not take chances at this time. He watched as Sarah marched with rage to a frail looking Lucy, he could not hold back his tears any longer, the woman he loved dearly, the woman his heart beat for had been reduced to a shadow of her own self.

He watched patiently as the woman that he had grown up calling mom narrated the reason she had kidnapped Lucy. “No one comes before what i want,” she was ranting while Lucy just stared at her helplessness evident in her eyes. The hardest part of the story that he found so hard to take in was when he learnt that, Sarah due to her possessiveness and jealousy separated him from his mother. So Sarah was the one that had sent the thug he found at the hospital to eliminate his mom so that he would never get to know the truth. How wicked?

How could a human being be so wicked to that extent?, he wondered. So after all he had parents, parents he was made to believe dumped him in the streets. Parents that had lived almost all their lives without their son thanks to the wicked plan of the one he had grown up calling mother.

How could a woman be so wicked as to want to compete with his son’s fiancee over him, indeed he had been living with a wolf in a sheep’s clothing, or rather a snake in human form.

Sarah raised the gun in her hand and pointed at the already helpless Lucy, while everyone in the room watched. She was about to pull the trigger when Dan’s loud voice rang in the air “Not again, not this time mom,” he said sternly a malicious grin on his face.
