MY HEART DESIRE -Episode 13

“Hello, mom, meet me at the usual place, i have something to show you,” she dropped the call. Angela swerved to the untarred road after hurriedly checking her sorrounding.  She felt so uneasy, she had vowed never to be involved in her mother’s deals but in one way or the other, here she was ready to meet her mother with a dead body in her boot. She was also guilty that she had to go against Dan but she did not have much of a choice.

Dan was surprised to say the least when she saw Angela turn to an untarred road, the road to the best of his knowledge led to the most dangerous streets in that town. ‘I thought this girl was going to dump a body?” “What in God’s name is she doing in this ungodly street,” he asked himself. He was genuinely concerned but then curiosity took the better part and he decided to play in the shadow and see what would unfold. He quickly changed to detective mode his senses and instincts so much alert.

His heart was beating wildly in his ribcage not out of fear but a feeling that he could not like what he would find out. Deep down in his heart he felt that there was something that had been going on without his knowledge. He cautiously and carefully drove after Angela constantly checking his sidemirror as he knew she could not be alone in this street at that time.

His suspicions were confirmed after a few miles when he spotted a car far away. The car was approaching at a dangerous speed so he had to do something before he was busted there. He sped to the opposite side, killed the engine at a vantage point where he could see the approaching car without being spotted. There was no disputing that something fishy was going on and being the curious boy he was he decided to see the end of it.

The more the car got nearer, the more his heartbeat increased and the more the car got clearer and familiar. He choked on his saliva when he caught a glimpse of a very familiar face in the car. “What is Sarah doing here?” he wondered the matter suddenly being of so much interest to him.  The car was out of sight in a minute, it would be easier to track Sarah because she was a one careless lady. He followed her with a renewed energy and a rather increased speed.

A curse was almost out of his mouth after a few minutes of driving without sighting Sarah’s range rover but it was parked a few metres away ahead of him opposite Angela’s car. He moved further away to the back because he could not tell the situation of things in there and to avoid giving himself out too easily.

The sorrounding smelt of pure evil, he carefully climbed the staircase to the first house he found. He searched around for any clue of mother and daughter but the room was filled with broken bottles of bear and remains of cigarettes. He frowned bitterly when the foul smell hit his nostrils. He tiptoed to the next room, but was disappointed to find the next two rooms in  worse conditions than the first he stepped into. The moment he was contemplating of turning back he heard distinct voices somewhere in the next room.

Quickly, he climbed on the window, he could never be more relieved than he was right now, the window was suitable to hide him and the women were in the room discussing in low tones. His eyes wandered about the room for few seconds, he almost gasped when his eyes fell on the dead body of the man from the hospital earlier. His throat felt raw as he confirmed that something was fishy about the whole thing.

“Mom, i swore never to be part of your deals, but Dan was almost knowing the truth,” Angela shouted rather too loudly. “Are you sure, he did not follow you here?” Sarah squinted at her for a few seconds before scanning the room as if expecting Dan to emerge from somewhere. “No mom, the fool is probably on his way home,” she mouthed back. Those words hit Dan hard, he checked if he had turned on the recorder and after confirming turned his attention to the two.

“I had to ki*ll this man with poison after i realized you were the one that probably sent him,” Angela said between clenched teeth. “I had to cover your tracks again, and i feel really guilty lying to Dan, he is feeling guilty wherever he is,” what is your interest in that woman and why did you send someone to ki*ll him?” Angela asked.

So Sarah was the one behind the woman’s attempted murder but why would she do that? Does she have personal scores with her or what, what truth are they talking about and what is my relationship in all these? Wait, Angela does not know the reason for the woman’s attempted murder? Jeez this is so freaking confusing,Dan thought to himself.

Sarah’s voice brought him to the present. “It is a long story Angela,” “then make it short, mom, or don’t you trust me again?” Angela mouthed hopefully. “I trust you, that is why i want you to step in and help me iron things out,” her mom insisted. “I will fill you in in all you need to know later but for now help me clear this mess,” she indicated with her index finger to the body in the room. “You will follow me to the den, Lucy has to die this night,” Sarah quickly added.

“What!” Dan gasped before he could stop himself, he involuntarily let go on the metal rails he was holding making him fall to the ground heavily.
