MY HEART DESIRE.

Episode 8.

“Sarah,” she called out again not believing the sight before her. Sarah was grinning mockingly at her. Lucy was suprised to see her there, she did not really get along with Sarah from the start and only played her cool and at ease with her because she was Dan’s guardian.

A lot of things did not make sense to her, Sarah had been pestering Dan too much and the way she looked at Dan was nowhere near how a guardian should. Lucy had always felt like Sarah was literally dragging her for a competition to gets Dan’s attention.

Was this why i was kidnapped? She asked herself. No, although they were not best of friends with each other it was no enough reason for her to do that. She looked up only to meet the glaring eyes of Sarah, her eyes filled with venom that she found hard to explain.

“You want to know why you are here?” Sarah probed.  Lucy was quick to notice a slight tone of pain in her voice and it filled her with fear. “Yes,” she was almost inaudible not sure if it could comfort her to know the truth.

Dan rested his head on the huge gate leading to the governor’s palace. He was tensed, he heaved a huge sigh of frustration as the flashed on his life without Lucy.

It had been three sorrowful days with no news of Lucy’s whereabouts and it was seriously frustrating him. He had not the slightest idea where his woman was. He at first thought it was the best idea to go report to the police station but after going to them it only worsened the situation. He had been told point blank that he was not the best person to file for a case, he was filled with much anger that he almost caused a scene but calmed down as it down on him they were telling him the truth.

So here he was at the governor’s place to see what was going on. He very well knew that he was unwanted especially when he remembered how he was treated not long ago but this was a different case. He only prayed deep down in his heart that the governor would not have him thrown out or perhaps blame him for this predicament.

When he peeped for the hundredth time his adrenaline rising, he saw a few guards going about their work. He was startled when the gate was opened on his face, the governor was heading out as his mighty car pulled out of his driveway. His eyes met briefly with Tunde’s and he thought he saw uncertainity in them and an unreadable expression which was quickly replaced by scorn the moment he spotted him.

Governor Tunde had wanted to come down and yell on the young man but on second thoughts decided against it. Maybe, he knew where his daughter was. He was on his way to the secret shrine that he patronized when he saw Dan. The governor knew Dan was the best man for his daughter but his heart was just too stubborn and a lot was at stake. He needed to find his daughter and this young man will help him, then he will take his daughter to where she belonged, he thought. He wanted to use Dan as a pawn.

He quickly motioned for the guards to allow him inside in a friendly gesture that got Dan really thinking hard. It will be a long day, Dan thought as he was led to the palace.

Lucy wanted to believe that what she heard few minutes ago was a joke but when she looked at Sarah’s unsmiling face she knew it was the truth. Sarah was the architect of her kidnap, unbelievable. She shook uncontrollably as she could only spell one word “jealousy” it was well written on her face and it was evident in her voice.

“Why?” her voice shaky as she probed further. Why could she be jealous of her?  She threw a glance at her but the older woman was lost in thoughts.

“Well, i have always wanted for myself since he was a kid ,” “you have no idea what i did to have him,” her mind flashed on what happened.

Flashback.

Sarah and Grace had been best friends from highschool till college. They got married a year after college both to the love of their lives. They had briefly lost contact but met a few years later in a mall, Grace was with a little boy of around 5 years. Sarah had been on her 6th year of marriage but had no children on the other hand Grace had two.

While in school they had always competed on who would get children first and Grace was quick to rub it on her face though jockingly. Unknown to Grace she had just touched a wound she was trying to hide.

Sarah was jealous of her friend especially when she found out that her friends marriage was blooming while her home was breaking apart owing to her childlessness state.

Adding salt to the injury, Dan Grace’s boy was so intelligent, bright and so lively that she loved him at first sight. She wished he was hers and was so envious of her friend.

The envy got the better part of her that she hatched an evil plan against her best friend. She stole Dan from his parents and made it look like he got lost in a park. Her evil plan worked when his parents gave up on looking for him after they combed everywhere for him.

Because the boy was so bright she had no choice than to erase his memory with some herbs she got. She started planting a new memory in Dan’s head which was as blank as a new page. Even the story of Dan being a street urchin was some silly theory she fed him when his mind was very young hence he grew with the story.

She never regretted what she did to her friend.

End of flashback.

“So that is it young girl.” “No one comes between me and what i want,” she boasted. “I take out threats that want to take him from me now that he has grown to be a young handsome man, and Lucy you are becoming a block!” She yelled. She shot her a glare and stomped out.

To be continued.

From the flashback you have learnt that Dan’s parents are alive and probably on the lookout for him. Will they find him? Well find out in the following episodes as i introduce more characters.
