Chapter 1

Massux Hotel, Edo State
11.03am

Anthony sat on the bed proof reading an email which he wanted to send to one Mr. Lewis. By
his left was a file containing detailed information of five people whom he had carefully chosen for
his mission.

First on the list was Lewis Ogbonna, hacker and professional in computer technology. Lewis was
wanted by the National Police Command and various other security outfits on counts of illegal
computer activities.

He concluded proofreading and clicked on the send button. The message then displayed green
meaning that it had sent. He then changed his sitting position and focused on the television hung
on the wall as the network news had begun.

The journalist introduced himself and his name rang a bell in his ears. He suddenly remembered. The news caster, Alison James was his enemy right from his second year in tertiary institution. He however pushed that aside and listened yo the headlines which contained
“Federal Government concludes plans to concession multi billion naira enterprise…
“Governors in secret meeting with President, Security chiefs…
“Gunmen abduct minister, aides…

At this point, Anthony’s phone rang. He glanced at it and found out that it was his lawyer who was calling.
He picked the phone up and answered the call.

“Goodmorning sir” he greeted
“Good morning, Anthony. Your documents are ready for collection”
“Ok. I’ll be there as soon as I can for them”
“You better be. There is a lot yo be done…..”

Lewis chuckled to himself as he concluded the game he was playing victoriously. As he dropped the game pad, his phone jingled, signifying message. He unlocked his phone and was shocked at the message. The notification bar indicated that he had a mail message. But that wasn’t the cause of
the shock. How had the sender of the mail discovered a mail address which he had abandoned for nearly two years?
He however opened his gmail application and accessed the mail.

It read
“Lewis Ogbonna, I am a business agent with Cradle Plc. I have heard of your exploits in the computer technology sector and I can say that Cradle needs your services direly. I have a mouth watering offer for you. Contact me as soon as you can for details.

He laughed hard after reading the message and proceeded to switch on his laptop. When it finished booting, he copied the email address of the sender
pasted it in an application which he normally used to track location. Then he clicked on track. The screen displayed processing until about thirty seconds later when the computer showed error. He tried the process again for three
consecutive times but it kept displaying the same results. This confused him the more.

He returned to the mail message and responded

 

“Luwex Bar, 7.17pm”

After the message had sent, he opened his google browser and typed in
‘Cradle Plc’. The page refreshed and the search results displayed.
He went through all of them before finally choosing the one from wikipedia.

National Police Command, Abuja
12.52pm

“We finally have a chance to get to Lewis” Detective Steve told his team mates as he entered their work office.
“And what is that?” they asked in unison

“Lewis made a proposal to Vinco Entreprises where he controls their database and pays them an agreed sum over a period of time”
“That sounds suspicious. Why Vinco?” Inspector Dan, a team member asked
“Vinco has been suffering financial setback for the past six months. With the
amount lewis will be paying them for two years, they shiuld bounce back stable”
“Skip the trash. How do we get Lewis?” Detective Sally asked
“I would’ve suggested logging into the database but the chairman is adamant and will not release any information to me concerning that…….”
“Why don’t we arrest him for concealing information relating to a criminal?”
“Its too early for any of that. We have to use the company’s communication manager”
“Sounds fun but we still need a plan B should A screw up ” Dan said
“Yeah! I have been following the bugs we placed on Lewis and a few are bringing up positive results. I will analyze them today and bring them up at our next meeting.”
Sally answered him
“I advice everyone to be up and doing. Dig deeper into Lewis and pull up loop holes he left over. The Inspector General has instructed me to get Lewis in three weeks or he’ll remove me from the case.”
“That doesnt look good. How about we ask the chairman of the Security Cameras Regulatory Agency for assistance? ” Tom who had been silent all the while chipped in
“What makes u think that the SCRA will be willing to help?” Steve asked
“They will”, To said “Lewis has been causing them troubles and they’ll contribute their quota to nab him”.
“I guess that brings an end to our discussion. We should meet same time in two days”

Steve said and left

The expansive sitting room was decorated with beautiful flowers and other artefacts.

Barrister Alex walked in from his bedroom to meet Anthony waiting for him

“Sorry to keep you waiting, Anthony.”
“No problem. I arrived here just an hour ago”
“Allright. I was assembling some facts for the annual Senior Advocates Conference”
“Sorry for the interruption
“Nothing to be sorry about” Alex said and produced a flash drive from his pocket “This USB contains all information you need concerning all those you worked with before you were
wrongfully kicked out of office. I compiled them all night. When you insert it, you’ll six folders.
“Folder one contains information regarding your vice president and every one worked in his office as at that time. Two contains that of your ministers. Three contains that of your wife and child. Four contains that of your political rivals and those you messed up while on seat, Five contains that of the governors under you and six is that of all the heads of federal government parastatal”
“You really did a good job, barrister. Thank you”
“I appreciate. Have you ever thought of how to go about the mission, something like
assembling a team?”
“Yes. I’ll forward them to you later”
“Alright”

“You should be concluding plans now on how to go about your next term in office”
“Yes. I’ll forward you a memo so that action will begin”
“Hmm….Well, our mecenaries won’t be handling this years issue.
“What do you mean by that”
“We’ve concluded arrangement for a foreign assassin to arrive the country in two weeks time”
“Wow….That’s good cause we’ll be battling high profile big wigs of the country”
“Shine your eyes. Remember to pick a running mate from the the cartel. Your vice should be
eliminated.
“Yes. Get me a list of three likely people which you think will be accepted by my campaign team”
“At your service,sir………”
