MY HEART DESIRE – Episode 1

“But dad, he has a bright future!” Lucy shouted at his dad. “And i want to get married to him.” Her voice was breaking as she stared at her parents with tear filled eyes. “What is this you are calling bright future? Huh? her father angrily lashed back at her ,”you are not marrying that good for nothing bas***d and my word is final!” “Mum,dad,” the door opened slightly showing the well built figure of Dan. The trio watched dumbstruck as he moved three steps forward and stopped. Lucy’s heart raced as numerous things passed through her mind, her mind went blank as she stared at Dan. Through the pain she saw in Dan’s eyes she could tell that he had heard whatever the had been discussing. She just wished for the earth to swallow her alive but all was in vain. Before any one could utter any word, Dan raced backwards and he was out of sight in a jiffy. Lucy shot after him with her heart beating wildly against her chest but not after shooting a devilish stare at his dad.

Lucy’s woes with her parents started when she introduced Dan to them as the love of her life, since then she had known no peace as that became the centre of arguments in their house. She could vividly remember the stare of dislike that her father gave him as if he was a piece of sh*t. She had been a daddy’s girl and the envy of her siblings but since then the position was threatened. The numerous rants from her parents seriously took a toll on her, she was becoming a shadow of her own self. Apart from her exceedingly beauty Lucy had long and dark natural hair that complimented her beauty. She had curves at the right places with a model figure, you could be forgiven for thinking that she was a goddess. She had done well for herself making a huge step in life that many of her pals and age mates could find hard in accomplishing. At the age of 24 she was one of the leading journalists in the country and had established a beauty and modelling company for herself. These she had accomplished on her own despite the fact that his father was the governor of Cannambra state.

“You are not getting any younger Lucy,” her mother yelled at her as she pushed the door to her bedroom open. Apart from her nagging and bossy nature this was another thing she disliked in her mother, she had no respect for privacy and would pop in and out of her room whenever she liked. “Not now mom, she dismissed her mother with a wave of the hand and pulled her blankets over her head. Her mother cursed under her breath and marched out of her room like a wounded lionness.

Early the next morning

 

She paced around their expansive sitting room a string of thoughts in her young mind. If she knew her father too well, then she knew there was little she could do to save her case. This was the time she needed prayers but unfortunately she was not a religious person and she did not know the best position for her prayers to be heard. As she paced around a thought popped on her mind and the corners of her lips curved into a sweet smile. She had never thought of that before she grabbed her car keys and headed out. Her mother tried to stop her but she hissed and ignored her and through the corners of her eyes she saw her mother boiling in rage.
