I Saw A Child
By MiCi
Today I saw a child
riding a bicycle
On a government forsaken road
Half a lane
Once tarred
With potholes small and big
But wide enough to swallow dreams
Such as winning a gold medal
At the Olympics
Yesterday I saw a lass
With a ball
On a pitch of stones
And shattered glass
I saw passion
But it was chasing the wind
With a bleeding feet
She striked the ball
But hunger struck
And a dream dropped dead
I know you are seeing
You have seen, and
You will still see
But,
Please,
Tell that child
To keep his life
Till its gone beyond the reach
Of this world
And its government
No alarm wakes dead dreams
riding a bicycle
On a government forsaken road
Half a lane
Once tarred
With potholes small and big
But wide enough to swallow dreams
Such as winning a gold medal
At the Olympics
Yesterday I saw a lass
With a ball
On a pitch of stones
And shattered glass
I saw passion
But it was chasing the wind
With a bleeding feet
She striked the ball
But hunger struck
And a dream dropped dead
I know you are seeing
You have seen, and
You will still see
But,
Please,
Tell that child
To keep his life
Till its gone beyond the reach
Of this world
And its government
No alarm wakes dead dreams
