Preach to me
Conjure the humane in me
Feed me the sermon of history
On the pulpit of humanity

Teach me the serenity of nature
Make me understand its utterances
Let it keep me warm during the cold
Teach me to pay evil with love
.
Teach me to care for all and sundry
regardless of skin and race
Let me learn not to stand in anyone’s way
Teach me to leave the world a better place
.
I seek not to live forever
I ask not for fame
Instead i want to have a positive impact on my race
To treat everyone with grace
.
Purify my heart
Let me draw from your well of knowledge
To rewrite history with poetry
Steer my pen i rightly
