Funmilayo decided to go to the first place she has in mind and that is the JAY’S dynasty she saw it on the television when he won an award, that was how she got to know that he relocated to owerri, and once she finds him, she will make him suffer for disgracing her 26 years ago, agness will not be left out too, she smiled remembering that her son bought her fake story of what happened to their father and has vowed to deal with the old fool, the only problem she has is her foolish daughter, she wondered if she is really the child she gave birth to. She never believed the things she told them but that is not important as long his son is in support of her actions then she has no problem at all.

She got to the company, went straight to the receptionist, the lady gave her a bright smile that can soften any hardened heart, but she is not here for that.

Good morning ma, the receptionist greeted. “Good morning dear, is Mr Johnson around? Funmilayo asked hastily, she couldn’t wait to see the shock that will be plastered on his face when he sees her, she has been waiting for a day like this to come, she is sure going to enjoy it, she grinned again.

Am sorry ma he is not around but wait let me call the manager so that you can discuss with him, the receptionist said.

Funmilayo wondered where Johnson will be if not at work, or is he at home playing love chase with that foolish Agness, has he grown to love her over the years? The thought of him falling in love with Agness tightened her stomach and she felt like throwing up, she will destroy any love he has for that foolish woman, they should just wait and see, they can’t be happy and leave her to deal with her miserable life.

“Excuse me ma, are you the one looking for Mr Johnson” she heard someone ask. Yes am the one, I want to discuss business with him and it is a private issue I won’t discuss with anyone not even his personal assistant, just tell him that a business woman is here to see him, she said still doubting what the receptionist told her.

“Am sorry ma, for the past eight years now, Mr Johnson has not been to the office, I have been the one managing it and storing the money in the company’s account in case he comes back”

Funmilayo couldn’t digest what the young man mean, what are you saying? That he always stay at home or that he travelled?

He ran away ma, he is missing, his family has been looking for him since eight years and he is no where to be found.

Funmilayo’s face fell, that means her plan has been ruined, she tightened her hand and balled it into a fist, Johnson has escaped from her once again, she gritted her teeth in anger but then smiled when an idea popped up in her head.

You see young man, I have always known Johnson and his wife Agness, they were my friends right back at Port Harcourt and we lost contact when they relocated to owerri, can you please give me his house address, I need to see his wife my friend and console her, gosh what kind of a friend will I be if I don’t console her right away she said sobbing, ” I never knew that my friend Agness has been passing through such, she sobbed more.

That’s not a problem ma, I will write it down for you, the young man said moving to collect pen from the receptionist.

Mr Caleb Johnson was in his office going through some files when his manager stormed into his office without knocking.

What is it Mike? He asked, “sir a woman just left this place and she was looking for you, according to her she came to discuss business that she can’t share with any other person with you, we just lost a customer sir, mike said angrily, what kind of secret have you been keeping for the past 8 years that you can’t tell anyone, not even I your P.A? mike continued angrily.

Don’t worry mike, I will tell you when the time comes, Johnson said nonchalantly.

That is what you have been telling me since you faked your missing report, what happened?

I said I will tell you when the time comes, mr Johnson fired back.

Fine, am leaving, but I hope you won’t regret your action Caleb and I gave the woman your house address she said that she knows your wife, “Mr Johnson gritted his teeth at the mention of wife that murderer is not his wife and can never be”, take care of yourself mike said startling him, with that he left the office banging the door hard.

Mr Johnson sighed and relaxed on his seat, that is one thing wrong with making your friend your P.A, he will talk to you any way he likes. He sighed again, he is not regretting the fact that he left home, although he misses his daughters everyday but what he is doing now is more important than his children for now, the secret he is trying to save is an important and delicate matter and he will go back to them when everything must have been settled. He hopes that it will not be too late by then, he wondered how Mara will take the news if she hears it, because after finding out about what happened 26 years ago, he had to leave the house for Agness, he couldn’t trust and live in the same house with her and the time to confront her has not yet come, he feels nothing but hatred for her and he couldn’t let her know his own secret that the woman she tried killing years ago is still alive and he knows everything, she might try to finish her off He wondered why she never cashed the cheque he left for them, and according to the private investigator he hired, they have not been using the cars parked at the garage, he sighed, if Agness wants to suffer herself then she should do it alone and not drag his daughters into it, he left the money for them for Christ sake, he has heard how Mara his daughter struggles everyday with public transport, if that foolish Agness did not do what she did years ago he would still be in the house and his precious daughters will not be suffering, he planned to send his daughters Abroad to study, Mara would have been the manager in his company and not some shop owner, and he has been paying money every month into the joint account he has with Agness but she never withdrew any. He balled his hand in a fist and gritted his teeth, Agness you will pay for every pain you caused me and my family but right now It is better to be in hiding and come to the office once in a while until everything gets back to normal, he sighed again, and as for funmilayo that foolish Yoruba woman, he will make her pay, he gritted his teeth.

Obinna was at home watching his favourite channel E-sports, when someone knocked on the door, he stood up wondering who the person could be, he was surprised to see Kasie standing outside, his heart leapt for Joy, maybe she came to apologize, maybe she wants him back he smiled at his thoughts.

can I come in? kasie asked wondering why he smiled, ” yes come in and make yourself comfortable ” he said opening the door wide for her.

what should I offer you? he asked hoping that she really came to apologize. ” am not here for that Obinna, I came to give you an invite personally although I know you won’t be there because it will take place abroad but all the same I came to invite you and also apologize for using you, I shouldn’t have separated you from your girlfriend, she said hoping that he will listen to her.

It is okay Kasie, he said feeling disappointed, you know when you came I thought that maybe you want us to get back together but it is obvious that you love him more than the way you love me and who am I to question you, I give you my blessings.

Obinna let’s be real here, you don’t love me, what you feel for me is gratitude because I helped you, because I made you rich, I think you should go back to your Ex- girlfriend if she loves you she will take you back, am sorry once more, she said standing up, ” I will be going home now “.

No problem Kasie, my regards to your fiance and take care of yourself, “maybe she is right after all, maybe he doesn’t love her, he is just grateful for all she did for him, he thought.

Funmilayo smiled immediately she got to the address given to her, it wasnt hard for her to deceive that young man back there, just some few fake tears that’s all, she will like to see the shock on Agness’ face when they meet, it will be fun she grinned, she knocked on the gate and waited a while before a young girl opened the gate for her.

” good afternoon ma, how may I help you”? the young girl asked. ” Please am looking for Mrs Agness Johnson, she used to be my friend when we were in portharcourt until she got married and relocated to owerri” she lied through her teeth.

Okay you mean my mom? she is inside you can come in she said stepping aside, Kosi didn’t fail to notice the smirk on the woman’s face immediately she stepped into the compound, she shrugged hoping that she didn’t make a mistake by bringing her in.

Funmilayo marveled at the large and beautiful house with the garage full of cars, she eyed the house angrily, it could have been her and her children with the only man she ever loved in this house if only Agness had played her part well, that b***h she cursed.

“mom, someone is here to see you”, the young girl shouted bringing her out from her thoughts.

Funmilayo kept her hand on her waist grinning, show time she muffled.

Who is the person? Agness asked coming out from her room, she stood rooted to a spot immediately she saw who her guest was, her worst nightmare, “FUNMILAYO”.

Well well well, who am I seeing? I have missed you so much Agness, she said going for a hug which was surprising to Agness. Funmilayo has never hugged her before not even when she was living in their house, she had always treated her like trash in her own father’s house, did she repent from her evil deeds, how did she find her house? what is she doing in Owerri?.

Come on Agnes, I know you have many questions to ask me but we will talk about them later, right now the most important thing is Johnson, where is he? she asked looking around the sitting room.

Agness turned to find Kosi still standing at the place she was when she called her to come and see her visitor. Kosi, you can go to your room, I want to catch up with my friend, she said eyeing Funmilayo.

Okay mom, Kosi said still not comfortable with the woman’s presence in the house, she will surely be at alert and eavesdrop on their conversation, she doesn’t trust that woman.

Now that she is gone, can you start explaining to me why you are Jay’s wife and not me? why you didnt stick to the plan? instead you opened up your legs for him and even gave birth to a child for him, while we told you to ki*ll his child 26 years ago, no one is supposed to bear him a child apart from me, you knew all these things and you still eloped with him, causing Mama’s blood pressure to rise which later killed her, do you know how I suffered with my twins after Mama died, do you know? she asked angrily.

Agness was surprised, Mama is dead? she was shocked, tears slipped down her eyes, the wicked woman that tormented her right in her father’s house, serves her right, she sneered.

don’t you dare shade that crocodile tears, you killed Mama the same way you killed Papa funmilayo shouted, am sure you won’t want your precious daughter to know everything you did, now tell me where I can find Johnson or else am telling your daughter what you did 26 years ago.

Agness was shocked, tears started dropping down her face, her past has finally caught up with her, she doesn’t know if her daughters can ever forgive her, “funmilayo” she called, Johnson is not at home, he left 8 years ago, please take my contact and call me anytime you want so that we discuss everything elsewhere.

While I was suffering with my kids you were here enjoying with your daughter, Agness you will pay, I swear you will pay.

Agnes’s quickly scribbled down her contact, please call me as soon as possible, I wouldn’t want my daughter to hear our conversation, she said, I will explain everything to you, why we relocated, it was Johnson’s idea and not mine.

Kosi stood at the door trying to hear everything the woman was going to discuss with her mother but to no avail, they were talking in low tunes until the woman shouted, and she heard the woman threaten her mother, what? who does that? how dare she threaten her mother in the house? she decided to go and give her a piece of her mind until she heard her mother apologize telling the woman to call her some other time. no way, she is calling her sister right away, why will her mother apologize when she is been threatened.
