While there, he responded to Joshua’s earlier prayer by crying out to the Lord, “Bend me! Bend me!” In this prayer of submission, he received more revelation into the love of God. Charles surrendered to the will of God that day and allowed His compassion to fill him. Now, Charles felt ready to be God’s messenger.
He came home after the meeting and prayed for strength to do the will of God. “Charles, don’t forget, we have to go to the park tomorrow evening.” Noah said as he parted ways with Charles. “Sure, I will not forget.” Charles replied. Charles went to his room and prayed. “God, if indeed you have called me, show me a sign to confirm your calling.” Charles continued to pray these words for an hour.
Meanwhile, Mr. Roberts was still in his wheelchair. It has been a while he heard from his son, Charles. As he was thinking about Charles, he felt a surge of power pass through his spine down to his hip bone and then through his legs. He fell from the wheelchair onto the ground. At once, he felt strength in his legs. The pain in his hip bone was gone. He tried to stand up, he staggered and fell. He tried again, this time around, he could but his knees were shaking. He gathered the courage to move, and to his surprise, he could move freely. He was now walking. “I am healed!!! I am healed!!! I am healed!!!” He screamed and caught the attention of his family. They all came and saw the miracle that had taken place. They were ebullient and praised God with all their hearts.
Charles was still in his room praying when he heard his phone rang. He was surprised he forgot to switch it off before praying. He ignored the call for a while, but changed his mind and answered it since he was through with his prayer. He realized it was his mother calling. “Charles, your dad has been healed!!! He is now walking,” said Mrs. Roberts when her son answered the call. “Are you sure mother?” Charles asked. “Yes, my son, he is walking.” Mrs. Roberts replied.
Charles then realized his prayers had been answered. He asked God for a sign and God demonstrated it by healing his father. This increased his faith and resolution to be God’s messenger.
Noah called Charles to remind him of the meeting in the park. They were supposed to meet and pray. Charles dressed up and headed out to the park. He didn’t want to keep Noah waiting. Charles got to the park and realized most people were leaving. Charles was able to spot Noah standing behind a tree. He moved and tapped him on the shoulder from behind. “Why are you standing here, Noah?” Charles asked. Noah kept mute and refused to answer his question. Charles moved round Noah and stood in front of him. He then noticed Noah was in a daze, staring at the moon. Charles was confused as he didn’t know what Noah was looking at. He tried staring at the moon, but couldn’t see anything.
“Noah, why are you staring at the moon?” Charles asked again, but this time with anxiousness. He still received no answer from Noah. Then suddenly, Charles saw it too. He saw an arm seemed to be outstretched from the moon, reaching down into the town. He became perplexed when he saw the arm. “What does this mean? What is the meaning of this sign?” he continued asking himself rhetorically. It then dawned on him that the vision was a direct answer to his prayers. He had been fervently praying for one hundred thousand souls to be added to the kingdom of God.
Now, Charles was more anxious to launch his ministry. With his father’s healing, Charles knew his father would assume the role as the breadwinner in the family. He was ready to give all his time and money to the work of God.
The outstretched arm disappeared from the moon and both Charles and Noah were amazed at the vision God had showed them. Charles told Noah about his intention to launch his ministry. Noah was excited to hear Charles talk about going all out for God. “It is a good thing, Charles. I will provide my support all the way.” Said Noah. With that, the two friends left the garden.
The next day, Charles set out to look for a venue to start his ministry. He searched the whole town, but was always met with a negative answer. Each property owner he visited gave him over one reasons to why they couldn’t rent their place to him. He continued to search believing God would make a way for him by the close of the day. He was feeling weary, but continued on his quest. He saw a dilapidated cinema at the outskirt of the town. It was near dusk when he got there.
When Charles got to the cinema, there was no one present. It seemed no one owned the place. He waited for an hour to see if the owner would show up, but to no avail. Tired of waiting, he set out to leave. “I will try again tomorrow,” was what he said when he stood up to leave.
After taking some few steps, he heard someone shouting behind him. “Hey gentleman!!! Hey gentleman!!!” Charles turned and saw a man in his early fifties beckoning him to come in his direction. “Hey, come over.” Charles obeyed and went over to him. “Were you just leaving the cinema?” the man asked. “Yes Sir, I came to look for the owner to see if I can rent the place, but I could not contact him,” replied Charles. “I am the owner. I gave this place to a church and traveled. I was surprised when I arrived to see the place so ruined. I have plans to renovate the place, but never will I give it to a church when I am done,” said the man.
Charles was so disappointed that he wanted to leave. “Oh, sorry for interrupting you, Son. Why do you want to rent this place?” the man asked. Charles was quiet for some time as he didn’t know whether to tell the man his mission. Suddenly, he became courageous and decided to let his mission known to the man. “I want to rent this place for my weekly meetings. I am a young pastor, and I want to use the cinema to conduct my first service,” Charles elucidated.
The man became quiet for some time. It seems God was working on his heart. “Hmm. I told myself I wouldn’t allow any church to occupy this place, but I don’t know, it seems I am becoming fond of you. I can’t explain why, but I like you. I will give this place to you to organize your meetings till I renovate it. I won’t charge you anything. Here are the keys,” the man said while he stretched his hand and gave the keys to Charles. “You can use the place as often as you want,” he added and left. Charles was very happy and thanked the Lord for His favor on his life.
Charles had to spend extra money to clean the Cinema because of the bad state it was in. He was able to contact Noah to help him with extra cash. Now, everything was set for his first service. Charles prayed to God to use him as an instrument to touch the hearts of men.
Finally, the first day of service came. The service started with only two people. Thus, Charles and Noah. They came and organized the venue for the service. After which they continued with prayers asking God to bring people into the church. They prayed and waited for an hour, but were surprised no one had shown up. “What happened to the invitations?” the two friends asked each other. Everything seemed not to be working, but they never gave up. They continued to pray and waited for the move of the Spirit.
