MY DAUGHTER Episode 7

“mummy ekaro,

“Ibukun, Omo mi, bawoni?

“Adupe ma….

My mum called that mummy to remind me of their 35th wedding anniversary, she and dad has agreed to celebrate it after much persuasion from us, we their children told them not to worry about any expenses, it was all taking care off, the cake was made and decorated by Seun, asebi, that’s the cloths was all bought and sewn by Tosin, I take up food and drinks with Gift, my brother was every where, assisting in any way necessary, it was glorious, my sister and i surprised my parents with a brown new car, we wanted to do even more for them because they deserved it.

my dad made a speech, telling the crowd that gathered that they should never look down on the female child, “love them dearly and in your old age they will not despise you”

Me and my sisters head was swelling up with pride as my parents sing our praises,

They also celebrated my daughter as their first grand child, Victory was all shade of beauty, as she was dressed by her aunty Gift.

After the party we were clearing up the place when I was told somebody was outside asking of me, with the happy mood I was, I rushed outside, lo and behold It was Obinna, I wanted to turn back immediately i saw him but he rushed to me and knelt down, pleading and asking for forgiveness, I told him that as he can see, what he did to me can’t be traced on me, because i turned it into praise like my mum will say, no more pain in my life, but as for forgiveness i still have 2 more work for Karna to do in his life, after the work is done then we can talk of forgiveness, as we were still talking my daughter brought my phone that was ringing to me and went back into the house immediately, Obinna on seeing her said to my annoyance

“Ibukun, is…. Is that my…..my… daughter?

“your daughter ke? Mitcheeeww, Obinna you are really crazy, wait which of the daughter are you talking about? Is it the one i got rid off at your command, the one you killed or termed useless, because to you a female child is not really a child, or are you mistaking her for the the daughter your wife gave birth to and carried away leaving you for a white man, look at you, your life is spoiling small small but you don’t know it yet, just wait with time you will realize that same way money gives you power to do sh*t and get away with them same way karma comes in due season serving you your delicacies in a hot plate”

He was standing there with that sorry look as i walk back to the house.

I returned to my place without my daughter, my parents begged me to leave her for them, I warned them about Obinna they assured me not to worry about him, he won’t come near her,

I resumed work and have to face Lekan who was angry with me for not inviting him to my parents anniversary, I apologized and we continued our so called relationship which my heart wasn’t at peace with, his demands for sex continued but i told him not to worry that we will have alot of fun during that weekend, that’s two days away, he was happy and even went shopping for me

The following day I went to a supermarket to buy things for the house, I saw a fine young man at one corner buying things too, after the first glance at him he was really well Built, not too tall, an average guy and he wore a cute attractive smile, he noticed someone was staring at him and turned, we locked eyes for some time, I quickly looked away, I was so embarrassed to be admiring a man, he approached me and greeted warmly, I flashed a smile at him and was about getting acquittance when he mentioned his name, immediately he said ” I’m chima”

my smile turned into a frown, he was an igbo guy, Obinna ‘s people, aah no wasting time as i quickly did a U turn, to the cashier to pay for my items and disappear, he followed me and i started rebuking him in my mind, “Satan get behind me, you will not have me this time, I have learnt enough lesson from them that will last me a life time, the only good Igbo person i have met was Chief Emeka and he is dead, so every other person can’t appeal to me again… I prefer my Yoruba men, like Lekan, others can get behind me.

I was saying all this in my mind still rebuking him as he came to the counter and asked me if he said anything wrong, I said no and ask the cashier to hurry up, he was surprise in other to ease up his tension i told him he looks like my brother in-law who’s name is Tunde I said it with mean face and left, as he was still trying to understand my drama.

On getting home i saw a car packed in front of my apartment, I approached gently, it wasn’t Lekan, and I’m not expecting anybody, immediately i got close a woman came out from the car with a man, they both rushed to me, slapping, beating heating me, calling me names, “ashawo, husband snatcher, Jezebel, I was on the ground as they mount on me beating me, everything i bought from the supermarket scattered on the ground, i managed to tell the woman that she’s mistaken me for some one else, she then said,

“are you not Ibukun, ashewo, why don’t you go and find your own husband and marry, has men finish in this world that you will not leave my husband alone

“please ma, ejoo ma, Imabinu ejooor, who is your husband?

“Lekan, does his name ring a bell? We have being married for 9 good years, 9 years oloshi, with 2 children, 2boys, i sent people to locate where you live for me so that i can deal with you my self useless old cargo like you” this beating you received today is a child’s play compare to what that will happen to you if i smell you close to him again.

She went back into her car with the tout she came with and zoomed off still calling me names,

I was in serious pain but i was laughing so hard like a mad woman while still on the ground because this life is truly funny.
