THE FINISH LINE
By Akinyemi Bliss (MiCi)
Your race began in the testes
small straight shaped cell, you won!
Yet, in your early twenties
you wish you never won!
Cadavers don’t race
‘racing is for the living…
You race to life
Your life a race
Why deliberately remain obtuse?
Why kvetch ’bout life’s hurdles?
Homosapiens and troubles
A thriving struggle!
You raced for breath,
With oomph, you journeyed earth
A race which ends in death
At the seizure of breath
Isn’t the line ahead
where you head?
Like a winner, cross
You and your cross…
Across the finish line.!
